Okay, well, I was in Philadelphia on a college visit to Villanova and while there I met a kid from Florida. He was a big FSU (or Miami, can't remember) fan and eventually we started talking recruiting. Upon mentioning my most wanted targets in Sam Young and Gerald McCoy, he told me that Young was an ND-lock.
I was pretty surprised, but eventually he mentioned that he attends St. Thomas Aquinas and that both Wenger and Young were pretty open about their commitments to Notre Dame.
Now I don't consider myself an idiot, but that sounds pretty assuring.

Exactly. This is a tangible story that can at the very least be taken with a grain of salt. Some of the other crap that gets put out there doesn't even give you this much information. They just post stuff without any credible source, fabricated or otherwise.

I agree with Svoboda. We've got a good mix here. Most important to me, the intelligence level, knowledge and credibility is by far and away the best out there that I've seen. And if any bozos do come out here, they get banned. Who was the one guy that got banned last year?

That's all I'm saying.

I was a lurker at NDNation before I started this forum. I was never impressed with the various Irish communities out there because they either seemed to be very restrictive or overly pompous. I think we have a nice mix here.

The commitment of Sam Young is not official. And, it has not been confirmed yet. My sources said he had committed. There is still the possibility that he has. However, I should not have posted the info. I know this will anger many of you and I accpet the responsibility. I apologize.

I sure hope that you all realize I do have contacts. I have spent a lot of time over the last year building them up. I will still do my best to bring you the best, accurate information.

We certainly aren't pompous, though it would be nice to be a little more elitist. Doesn't always feel like an ND site otherwise.

Sam Young's mom is a teacher, thus education is important to him. He said this in an interview during halftime of the Florida 5A state title game. I can't imagine any of the other schools he's looking at giving him a better opportunity for both athletics and academics.

Gerald McCoy appears to be a very religious kid from a religious family. He continues to mention ND's graduation rate whenever asked about his impression of the school.

Bodes well for ND.

This is closer to what I expected the truth to be. This was a very irresponsible announcement if it was true or not. Other sites most often respect the kids' desires to announce their decision on their own terms. I don't know what this guy's source is, but I'd much rather hear it from the recruit than an unnamed source.

Secret sources mean jack squat to me. Sure, they are many times correct, but I never buy it until the kid wants it to be known.

He shouldn't EVER do it. Not just on occassion. And he really shouldn't do it without a quotable source. Otherwise, his credibility is nil, even if he does get it right once in awhile.
