I just received this email. Can anyone confirm it? Seems like there might be some confirmation on Rivals but I am not a subscriber.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
6'8, 302 pound offensive linman, Sam Young has committed to Notre Dame.
Young is the top ranked player in Florida. He is Rival's #23 ranked player, overall. He is the #2 ranked offfensive tackle.
Can defensive player Gerald McCoy be far behind?
Damm, I wish I got unsolicited emails like your instead of the inbox full of canadian pharmeceuticals and pyramid schemes.
I haven't seen anything being mentioned elsewhere... but I don't have any subscription to rivals either... if true, that would be awesome.
Here is the Rivals article that mentions Young from today. It says nothing about him giving a verbal.
Season's Greetings
Pete Sampson
Sam Young wanted Notre Dame to prove it.
Now, with the Irish headed to the Fiesta Bowl, top juniors such as Jimmy Clausen, Josh Oglesby and Ronald Johnson don't need to stand by to find out if Notre Dame will win under Charlie Weis. A 9-2 debut season provides evidence that the Irish will thrive under their first-year coach, a storyline that's that been well-documented in the context of today but out of focus regarding its future impact.
"No one wants to be stuck not winning, obviously," Young said back in May before taking his first visit to Notre Dame. "With Coach Weis … that's a giant leap forward. I'm just looking to see if they take that step or not."
Notre Dame's stride showcased near perfect form, exactly what the Irish needed to convince players of Young's caliber that signing in South Bend also means a legitimate chance to compete for national titles. For how much the Irish fandom believes Notre Dame can woo recruits with superior academics and top-notch facilities, those things do little when mediocre football is also part of the pitch.
After all, if academics alone could carry a program's recruiting campaign, Duke would have been better than 1-10.
The impact of the Fiesta Bowl won't be felt just in Notre Dame's budget, but in its recruiting stature too. This fall turned Weis into a brand name, meaning his reputation will precede him into the nation's top high schools next spring. Considering Weis' recruiting drive that included barnstorming across the country last May, it's hard to believe he won't stage something similar next year. But this time he can sell more than three Super Bowl rings and 15 years' NFL experience.
Weis can sell winning at the college level and the expertise to develop his players too.
"For the top players at least … the jury was out of whether we were going to back up what we said," Weis said. "To finish up 9-2 kind of erased some of the indecision that some people had trying to figure out whether we were going to be any good or not."
That means elite players such as Clausen, Oglesby, Johnson, Marc Tyler, Arrelious Benn and Ben Martin won't need until next January to figure out whether or not Weis is the real deal. It also means patience has paid off for Young and Gerald McCoy, the top two players left on Notre Dame's recruiting board.
Considering Notre Dame's early activity on the junior recruiting circuit, there's little doubt the Irish will be near the top of the list for the Young and McCoy equivalents in 2007. But this time those players won't need to wait to form an opinion of Notre Dame. Odds are they are already have one, and that's a good thing.
I made a visit to the site once. I don't know if they are credible or not.
No offense to you. If this is true, thanks for the heads up. But there has been at least one site out there that has been doing some rumor-mongering, especially in relation to Mustain. That site was linked to the infamous SI25 and was full of crap.
addendum, I just checked out irishblueandgold.com. It's there in their forum. How credible is mkallen? I believe he is a guy who has been blacklisted from a couple established boards. His post lists no sources, simply says that Young is Irish.
I'm going to quelch my enthusiasm on this one until it comes out somewhere else.
Thanks, for the possible news, though.
The email's dated 12/21 at 12:35.
I also received another email from the same site today requesting a vote on the size of the font used for articles, not to be confused with the size of the font used for the message board.
No announcement has been made.
Click on the link in bigwindbag's post. Someone in that forum is basing this off of the lead of the Rivals article I posted. Reading the text, you can clearly see it isn't about Young giving a verbal.
On Sam Young or Irish Blue and Gold's font size? Either would be welcome news at this point.
Sam Young has been signed by George Steinbrenner and Brian Cashman to play first base for the Yankees.
Yet another guy who can't pitch.
There are 116 people on line and there have been about 20 new members in the last ten minutes.
Is this Sam Young rumor traffic or did Svoboda hit the marketing trail?
i visited that site a few times last year, I don't think they have any credibility. That MKAllen guy had alot of enemies on other ND sites, not sure what all the beef was about though.
Oh well, it made for a fun thread to screw with people over at NDNation...I like it over here, because you can actually ask a question and get a serious answer or some off the cuff fun remarks, not dick remarks...which set off that entire thread making it more funny than anything, in my opinion.
I was a lurker at NDNation before I started this forum. I was never impressed with the various Irish communities out there because they either seemed to be very restrictive or overly pompous. I think we have a nice mix here.
Irishblueandgold is very credible. I am a member there and I've never found anything to make me believe otherwise.
Besides, there were rumors going around for months that Sam Young and Dan Wenger had been walking around school openly speaking about their commitment to Notre Dame.
So is it that surprising? No, it isn't.
Any idiot can go out on these sites and say, "Jimmy Clausen is a silent verbal. I don't have a source, but I have the information."
Basically, they tell Richard Gere gerbil stories.
And that might be too kind.
Next piece of evidence: Sam Young was dropped by Rivals from the 9th best prospect in the country (and #1 OL) to the 23rd and 2nd respectively. A lot of people don't give much credence to the idea that Rivals and Scout are biased, but if you take an objective approach to all the 'evidence' it's impossible to deny that something unusual is going on over there.
Now I know he's Irish if he slipped on Rivals. That's a dead giveaway.
If McCoy drops, I'm having a party.
Okay, well, I was in Philadelphia on a college visit to Villanova and while there I met a kid from Florida. He was a big FSU (or Miami, can't remember) fan and eventually we started talking recruiting. Upon mentioning my most wanted targets in Sam Young and Gerald McCoy, he told me that Young was an ND-lock.
I was pretty surprised, but eventually he mentioned that he attends St. Thomas Aquinas and that both Wenger and Young were pretty open about their commitments to Notre Dame.
Now I don't consider myself an idiot, but that sounds pretty assuring.
