Technically this is true. But it's likely in our best long term interest to support Ukraine. The financial commitment is not that burdensome to us, it hurts our biggest global adversary, and its just the right thing to do as the country that used to be considered the leaders of the free world and a force for good worldwide.
It depends how you define "lose"
Ukrainians are the best positioned to decide the terms of their settlement. Especially when dealing with Putin who they cannot place an ounce of trust in.
Assuming this means Putin, then yes, that goes back to the terms of settlement. If the US doesn't grant significant security concessions to Ukraine, Ukraine would be dumb to agree to anything.
