The key is to be where you want to retire (state) before the end of your first 5 years. I had a very difficult time rolling my retirement from Arizona into one for Indiana. Every state is different, and it's a mess when you move.

That's one reason he is looking at Ga. They have a great retirement system and it's close enough to keep mom and dad happy too.

It really starts with the family unit. I know most don't want to hear that but it's the truth. Too many children born out of wedlock. Too many children growing up without a father figure in their life. Too many single moms who need to keep their legs closed. Too many "fathers" who want only one thing - and sadly, too many females wanting to give it to them.

Until this behavior stops, there isn't any "social" program gonna stop it. There has been more money poured in to disadvantaged neighborhoods for the better part of 50 years. And for what? Those communities are no better off today than they were then.

Education? It is really sad when an educated black person is vilified in their own community by their own people. Success isn't measured by how many years one attends school in order to try to break generational curses of welfare and poverty. It is measured in the latest fashion, rap music video, smart phone, and car one is driving.

Stop making babies out of wedlock. Stop peddling drugs on every street corner. Stop trying to impress your chump as* buddies by the cars you drive, the clothes you wear, and the women you bed. Start acting like a damn as* grown adult. Be a spokesman for those in your family and in your neighborhood. Hold each other accountable. Get an education. Celebrate a kid when they break the curse instead of vilifying them in the community. Take advantage of all the systems out there already in place to move a people forward.

Get involved. Vote for those in your community that don't play race cards and have the community at heart. There is no reason why inner cities can't be moved forward by the people that live there. But until the "victim" mentality and race trading chumps continue to get all the admiration from those "victims" we will sadly be talking about this for the next 50 years.

I'd rep ya, but I've got to spread the love first.

What Tommy points out in this post is not exclusive to the black community. I'm sure he has known many white people in Alabama suffering from the same problems he outlines. I know here in East Tennessee there is a large percentage of poor, uneducated white folks suffering the same problems. How to break the cycle is another question all together.

Amen. Not sure why anyone would neg rep this unless they're just unless they're just putting on blinders and choosing to ignore what's going on.

Blaming hip hop is like blaming metalk for school shootings. People who actually listen to it knows how wrong it is.

Data from the US DofE in 2012 shows that diverse schools have less experienced teachers and a quarter pay $5000 less than less diverse schools.

The truth usually hurts. Negative repping me doesn't bother me. Calling me racist doesn't bother me either. Ignoring the issues at hand or dismissing them with another excuse does bother me.

Excuses can be legit you know. You're post is racist and demeaning, and most of it is incorrect and idealized nonsense. I didn't negrep but that's nothing different than what would be on Stormfront.

So you were agreeing with me but simply hit the wrong button? Gotcha.

Inner city schools aren't diverse, they are all African American. You are looking at data that isn't applicable to the argument.

Indiana's highest paying districts for BA teachers:

1) Wayne Township
2) Warren Township
3) IPS

*IPS is obviously inner city, and the other two are fringe districts with more inner city qualities (crowded classrooms, underachieving) than rural ones

While the teachers get paid more, some of the resource differences are astronomical. Comparing a suburban Columbus high school with a CCS is just sad. Yeah there are alternative schools and such but its still pathetic.

You are probably right. I wasn't born for the Rodney King stuff but I saw the two compared on twitter so I just threw it out there.

I was a 24 year old sailor up at Pt. Mugu (Ventura County) for the Rodney King riots. It was about as sad a display of human behavior as you can imagine.

Any chance you could discuss this without being condescending? A simple, "I think you're going to be wrong" would suffice.

I don't think this is condescending. I am sure that this won't be week long riots and constant fires. The press and cops hope this happens, but it won't.
