What does that prove? Literally no one has said there wasn't an altercation in the car.

See this is where I lose patience with people and their thought processes. In my world and way of thinking, if you get into any type of physical altercation with a police officer (no matter what color you are) you deserve and should expect to be shot.

Even if their hands are up surrendering. Okay. Cops just have free range to kill everyone.

No matter what happened, 6 witnesses say Brown was surrendering when he was shot. Even though I believe Wilson instigated it by even hightailing it to go yell at them or whatever, even if Brown did hit Wilson (softly since Wilson is perfectly fine in pictures at the scene), that doesn't make it not murder.

I'm a cop. The use of force decision is heavily reliant on the details of the altercation. If the cop was attacked in the car and the kid went for the gun then the officer has two defining reasons to use his weapon ie the attack and the kid trying to grab the gun. Depending on what the kid was doing after the first shots are the discretion of the cop. The cop needs reasonable belief that the kid was still a threat. Was the kid lunging towards him? Telling the cop he's going to kill him? Also, it doesn't matter who started it, if the kid felt he was harassed then crush the cop civilly. If you don't think it's fair...call your states attorney general

It's not murder. The cop did not intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly kill the kid. So you believe the cop instigated it and it's his fault bc he yelled at kids? What did the kids do prior to the incident? Maybe the cop knew him from the block as a drug dealer? You, like the rest of us, don't know the facts.

Evidence supports officer’s account of shooting in Ferguson - The Washington Post

By Kimberly Kindy and Sari Horwitz October 22 at 1:56 PM

Ferguson, Mo., police officer Darren Wilson and Michael Brown fought for control of the officer’s gun, and Wilson fatally shot the unarmed teenager after he moved toward the officer as they faced off in the street, according to interviews, news accounts and the full report of the St. Louis County autopsy of Brown’s body.

...

A lot more at the link.

PDF: AUTOPSY REPORT FOR MICHAEL BROWN

This is the official St Louis Co report. 16 pages

It's not going to matter To him, BGIF. He believes what he wants and that's it. Facts are meaningless. He'll write them off as some sort of coverup. Thank God cops all over are wearing cams now. It'll put an end to 90% of the excessive force claims. And Title, before you start questioning the legality of cops making stops while off duty- check the officers states attorney general mandate while your at it check out the use of force policy. You'll be unpleasantly surprised when you realize most of the stuff you think you know is wrong

For public safety they should make the announcement early, so folks can get the hell outta Dodge.

Oh now they're saying they don't know what day the announcement will be, just that they're expecting it.

Awaiting Ferguson grand jury, activists drill protest tactics

Scott Malone, Reuters

We are in a rebellion at the moment," said Reverend Osagyego Sekou, an activist from Boston. "That means breaking police lines, non-compliance with police orders. It is confrontational but not violent."

...

On Tuesday, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon warned that violence will not be tolerated and said more than 1,000 police officers had undergone more than 5,000 hours of specialized training in preparation for the grand jury decision.

The training involved four hours per officer of mostly classroom instruction, said Sgt. Brian Schellman, a spokesman for the St. Louis County Police.

He said a group from the county force’s Tactical Operations division trained about 500 police from the county, the state highway patrol and various city forces, during October in the St. Louis County Police Academy.

Classes focused on protesters' constitutional rights, laws regarding unlawful assembly and failure to disburse, as well as a review of civil disobedience and riot training.

Officers will carry at all times a laminated card setting out the 1st, 4th and 14th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution, which deal with free speech, unlawful search and due process, Schellman said.

If there was ever a time for a true leader(s) to step up this would be one.

Governor declares state of emergency in Ferguson - CNN.com

Dana Ford 11/17/14

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency Monday ahead of an expected grand jury decision in the case of Michael Brown.
In his executive order, Nixon cited the "possibility of expanded unrest." He said that people have the right to protest peacefully but that citizens and businesses must be protected from violence and damage.

...

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay said the plan will bring National Guard troops to the city, but he said their role is designed to be secondary to local law enforcement.

...

"In the days immediately following Michael Brown's death, peaceful protests were marred by senseless acts of violence and destruction," the governor said last week.
"That ugliness was not representative of Missouri, and it cannot be repeated," said Nixon.
The state of emergency will expire in 30 days unless extended by another order.

...

But he stated that the troops will "not be on the front lines, confronting protesters."
They would play a secondary role, he said, and will be partnered with local law enforcement anywhere they are posted.
While Slay emphasized the back-up role of the National Guard, he said he agreed with the governor's decision to declare a state of emergency.
The troops are needed for visibility and deterrence, Slay said.
