True, he was seen as an outsider and never accepted or supported by the various factions in-fighting within the athletic department. With 19 returning starters, including their only Heisman candidate in years, he would have been rolling on offense. At that point they would only need an average defense to be vying for the B10 championship. Now they get to start over!
Wht they reap for treating an "outsider" so badly is that quality coaches aren't interested in stepping into the quicksand that is Michigan today. They need to clean up the athletic department, get everyone on one page, then the job will be more attractive to coaches who aren't emotionally tied to the school. They are insisting on this inbred "Michigan Man" crap when in reality that is the only type of person who will be interested. The Northwestern coach already said no; the last time they went shopping they were turned down for the likes of Rutgers.
Unless they pull off a miracle and get Harbaugh (seems unlikely as of today) they are going to get slaughtered by Alabama to start off a brutal 2012 schedule.
