Starting to come down to the close here soon.

You're not going to get that but I'll take Jiggs' five any day. We'd all be rich if we had a dollar for every offensive guy that wound up on defense. Just because these guys played offense in high school does not mean they cannot be changed. The needs of the team will dictate where they play.Svoboda said:I want defense, defense, defense on the remaining spots.
scooper said:I'm really starting to come around to your side on Paddy Mullen at DT. Size-wise he's not far off. He can make a very athletic DT. The NFL and NCAA are loaded with stud DT's and OL that were high school TE's. Heck, Warren Sapp was a high school TE. TE's tend to be the most athletic big guys on their teams. Bring in the athletes, build them up a little and set them loose.
jiggafini19 said:I think Paddy Mullen is going to be a DT. Call me crazy, but that's my hunch.
iloveirish_12 said:I agree, I think he will be a DT or DE. I don't know. When they talk about him thats all they talk about is his defense.

With Carufel and Young, that would land ND 5 linemen. If Yeatman comes in on a LaCrosse scholarship, that's 6.
I like the idea of Wenger being a true center, but Eric Olson is versitile enough to play any of the three line positions and can be moved.

Talk about screwing up your football future...I mean geez....
Beautiful -- what a great post. How happy do you think David Grimes and DJ Hord are right now knowing they have all the opportunity in the world over the next 3 years and played some good minutes as true frosh.Aerosmith777 said:Hey, you know who I just thought about? Jiggs, I'm with you on this guy. In my opinion he would have gone to Fla. regardless of what Weis did. When a recruit can make a head coach jump through hoops he just wants someone to lick his boots. Weis is too smart to fall for that crap. Nelson can shove it as far as I am concerned.jiggafini19 said:You know what?
David Nelson is example #1 that Weis is not going to kiss or wipe any @ss with these recruits. That punk wanted Weis to come to his house the Monday after the AFC Championship. Weis said if they lost, he'd be there but if they won he'd have to be in NE to prep for the game. And ND was sending the MAX amount of assistants that can be present for a home visit.
So screw David Nelson. He went to Florida because Urban strokes these kids and treats them like Divas.
Nelson was no loss. He was an example of what NOT to do when Charlie Weis is recruiting you.
jiggafini19 said:A DT with Paddy Mullen?
Interesting. Hopefully they land McCoy and that won't be necessary.
scooper said:I recall someone on another board from NY saying they've seen him play and he is dominant on the defensive line. But, this is going strictly by my shaky memory. Either way, six OL would be nice, but it's also potentially too many, especially with a lack of depth at DT.
A special year in ND recruiting
Who will land the final spots in class?
BOB WIENEKE Tribune Staff Writer 12/4/05
In most years, the Notre Dame football banquet weekend served as part awards ceremony, part recruiting tool. Perhaps not in even that order.
This, however, has been no ordinary recruiting year.
Twenty-two players have given ND coach Charlie Weis verbal commitments, and the only players making official visits for Friday's banquet were players who already had committed.
The large number of early commitments leaves little space in the recruiting class of 2006, although the Irish could surpass the NCAA maximum of 25.
Running back James Aldridge and offensive lineman Chris Stewart have said they will enroll at ND for the spring semester, meaning their scholarships will count against last year's total and allow for more scholarships to be offered this year. George West, another committed player, has not yet made up his mind but, according to his high school coach, is leaning toward early enrollment.
So who will fill those final spots? The following is a player-by-player breakdown of Notre Dame's remaining targets according to recruiting analyst Tom Lemming.
-Sam Young, OL, 6-foot-7, 292 pounds, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (Aquinas High School): Young is, in the opinion of some, good enough to start along the Irish offensive line next season. He has not visited Notre Dame yet, but is expected to do so once his high school season ends. Young is also involved with Florida, Miami, Penn State and Michigan. "I think it looks great for Notre Dame," Lemming said. "I think Notre Dame has definitely got to be considered one of the favorites."
-Gerald McCoy, DT, 6-5, 300, Oklahoma City (Southeast). McCoy is the highest rated player with whom Notre Dame remains involved. McCoy isn't saying much, but Lemming believes it's down to ND, USC, Miami and possibly Oklahoma. An announcement may not arrive until close to signing day. "I do know that his parents like the religious aspects of Notre Dame," Lemming said.
Konrad Reuland, TE, 6-6, 240, Mission Viejo, Calif. The nation's top tight end made his official visit to Notre Dame for the Nov. 12 Navy game, a game in which ND tight end Anthony Fasano caught four passes, including a touchdown. Reuland recently canceled a visit to Stanford and was expected to attend Saturday's USC-UCLA game. Lemming believes that Reuland is leaning toward Notre Dame, but more will be known after the weekend.
Butch Lewis, DT, 6-7, 280, Aurora, Colo. (Regis Jesuit). Georgia and USC may hold a slight lead over the Irish, but Lemming noticed a lot of ND fans at Lewis' high school when he visited in May. He also has recently noticed a big ND fan in Lewis' own household. "In the mom's mind it's Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Notre Dame," Lemming said.
Toryan Smith, LB, 6-1, 235, Rome, Ga. Could be the next player to announce, and it appears to be between Notre Dame and Florida. "I think Toryan likes them both but what I've been hearing is that the dad would really like him to go to Notre Dame," Lemming said.
Matt Carufel, OL, 6-5, 290, St. Paul, Minn. (Cretin-Derham Hall). Carufel, from the same school as current Irish players Ryan Harris, Rashon Powers-Neal and Marcus Freeman, will announce during the Jan. 7 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio. Carufel is reportedly down to Minnesota, Iowa and ND, but he was spotted after one Irish home game wearing an ND hat while sitting outside the Irish locker room.
Dan Wenger, C, 6-3, 270, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (Aquinas). The teammate of Young has already made his official visit to Notre Dame. Wenger could also play other spots along the line. Florida and Miami have offered. "I just think he's leaning to Notre Dame," Lemming said.
Terrence Austin, WR, 5-11, 170, Long Beach, Calif. (Poly). The speed receiver that this class lacks will announce during the All-American Bowl on Jan. 7. But because Notre Dame has secured commitments from three receivers already, four if you count defensive back/receiver West, Austin may land elsewhere. He is also considering UCLA and California.
"I think right now the only way Notre Dame gets him is if they lose a couple of other guys," Lemming said. "But he's still out there for sure."
LaRon Moore, DB/WR, 5-11, 185, Midwest City, Okla. Like Austin, Moore may be the victim of a numbers crunch at his position. He's been starting to show more interest in Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, but has set no timetable for a decision.
Jason Kates, DT, 6-3, 330, Harrisburg, Pa. (Bishop McDevitt). Kates, who at one time had been rumored to be committed to ND, is also involved with Penn State and Virginia. "I believe if Notre Dame put pressure on him right now, he'd come," Lemming said.
Marques Wilkins, WR/DB, 6-1, 188, Decatur, Ill. (MacArthur). Wilkins is committed to Illinois, but is a good friend of Irish quarterback commit Demetrius Jones. If he backs out of his commitment to the Illini, and if ND is looking to land another receiver/defensive back, this could be a name to remember.
Osahon Tongo, LB, 6-3, 225, Naperville, Ill. (North). If Smith commits to Notre Dame, it's likely all over at linebacker. But if he doesn't, Tongo could be another name to keep in mind.
Young will visit USC Dec 16thSam Young, OL, 6-foot-7, 292 pounds, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Eliades is very explosive off the snap, and he finishes every play. You'll see him drive defenders 10-15 yards until the whistle blows.
