Oline the problem for the loses???? NO NO NO

Our putrid QB play against those good teams is the reason! Now they have a hand in it. But, Tommy's innacurate throws, INTS, Fumbles, and inability to run is the real issue.

Now the line has been a problem. 7 ints/3 fumbles/2 lateral fumbles/missed wide open receivers was and is the problem.

If people want to give him the credit for being 12-3 as a starter, that must go both ways. He sucks against good teams. And is 12-5 when he takes the most snaps.

If Rees sucked against Michigan State, I can only imagine what you thought of Hendrix's performance last night?

kmoose, Andrew came in against the #6 team in the country and FAAAAAARRRRRR outshined Tommy who has had 1 full year (over two seasons) 1 bowl game, 2 spring balls 2 fall balls and still couldn't outplay a guy who had under 15 snaps.

Kmoose please do some research, but Tommy did suck against MSU. 161 yards 1 TD 1 InT and 1 fumble. 18-26. Sorry, that absolutely sucks. 2 Turnovers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And what I watched he missed guys all over the field that day too.

He completed 69% of his passes against a Top 10 defense. That sucks? Forget it. You guys are like a broken record. The sad thing is that I think many of you Rees haters were actually rooting AGAINST the kid (and, therefore, the team).

If Tommy Turnover or Tommy can't run is our QB again I am going to get sick. As long as we play Army/Navy/Maryland we are OK with Tommy. If we play good defenses Tommy will be what he is, a Turnover Machine.

Stats don't lie

2 Ints in 2010 against USC and 1 this year and 1 fumble not including the backwards pass fumble.

2 ints and 2 fumbles and 1 lost fumble against Michigan

Michigan State 1 int

BC solid defense 1 int

Stanford in 1 half 1 fumble and 1 int

Pitt 1 int

Turnover Prone against good teams. Oh well, he is what he is. And now he has regressed.

And you're forgetting about the passes dropped by the secondary that should of been INT's. You can count 5-6 just from the Navy, Maryland and BC games.

Kmoose, overlook actual facts---like stats. This passion is because we love ND. We dont root for them to lose or a kid to fail. Just going with a guy who is better. Sorry, against a top 15 team like MSU he sucked. GA had a kickoff return for a TD and we had stellar D, not Tommy!!! Tommy had 2 fricking TO's.a

Again, kmoose look at the stats. 69% great. But, you left out 161 yards, missed open receives and those two TO's!!!!!

Again, do some research!

skeeter you are 100% correct. Sorry I did not mention those. My mistake. And he had another one last night that was a dropped INT. I am also sick and tired of seeing the throws going to the wrong shoulder or hip over and over. The one last night made me sick to wood for a TD that he blew.

Great kid, never makes excuses, but isn't a good QB overall. Fine agains weaker teams not against good teams.

Matt Loveccio anyone!!!

Do some of your own research......he completed damn near 70% of his passes, but according to you, "he missed guys all over the field that day, too" Pull your head out of your rectum long enough to think about that for a minute. You contend that he missed guys all over the field, yet he completed almost 70% of his passes.

Again, he misses guys that are open down the field. Go back and watch the games. He locks on guys all the time. And again, do your research since you are having a hard time doing it. How many Turnovers does he have against those good teams. Do some research and look it up, it is horrible. Great, 69% on those check downs or quick hitters. What are his avg per receptions? What are his turnover rate? etc. He is a turnover machine against good teams whether you like it or not. Look up the stats, then again you haven't done so up to now so why would you?? Because you would be proven wrong, that is why you haven't.

So an unblocked DLineman blasting him in the back and jarring the ball loose is on Rees? That's good to know. By the way, not sure if you have been paying attention in the many weeks that you have been watching college football(it's obviously only been weeks), but underclassmen QBs have ALWAYS had a lot of turnovers. Rees is only a true sophomore. Seasoned or not, he's still an underclassman.

But I'm going to just go ahead and bow down to you, now. I had no idea that you drew up the offensive game plan for Brian Kelly, for the Michigan State game. You must have, how else would you know that Rees checked down, instead of the plays being designed to go underneath? My bad.

Truth.

Quinn had 25 picks at this point in his career. Clausen has 23. Matt Barkley had 26.

Granted, Rees doesn't have the physical tools of these three players, but the turnover argument is a poor one.

Hendrix played better than Tommy, but he was only 11/24. He threw a lot of passes high and missed a lot of open throws.

You know how much of a di*k you sound like when you call Tommy Rees that? Does it make you feel like more of a man by belittling the kid every chance you get?

Seriously, did he bang your wife or something? Steal your bike? Kick your dog? We get it, you don't like the kid - so why keep bagging on him and calling him names?

You know what Tommy Rees is? He's a friggin' gamer. He's an overachiever. Look at him, look at his measurables, look at how he throws and runs. And yet this kid somehow has won 12 games for the University of Notre Dame, a school you say you're passionate about. He works his *** off by all accounts, he's a good kid, he's a competitor, and he's a great teammate. And yet you keep ripping him and calling him names. WTF???

We all know his limitations. We all know that he sucked last night. Even most his supporters (like myself) hoped that the younger, more athletic QBs would step up and compete for the job this spring. Almost everyone concedes that, but yet here you are, still ripping the kid that SAVED OUR ASSES last year and much of this year as well. Do you feel good about that?

I get critiquing the performance, but for the life of me I'll never get the name-calling of such a good kid.

(P.S. - Hendrix couldn't beat him out. That's on him, not Rees nor Kelly.)

I think Tommy's nickname is immature too, but to be fair, you've called Crist a 'headcase' and I don't see how that's much different.

Calling Dayne a "headcase" is accurate. He folds completely whenever he's facing adversity.

Reps. I shouldn't have. I think it is different in the sense that if Crist was starting and struggling and then got pulled, I'd stop calling him anything because he's not playing anymore and the argument is over. Like with Rees...it's over already - why keep killing the kid?

But that's semantics.

Thanks for the reps. It's so easy to forget that they're just kids and they're trying their hardest.

?? So Tommy should remain as our starter?

I don't know who should start the bowl game. I think it will all depend on the game plan. But whether or not Rees should start over Hendrix, or Crist, or Golson is no longer the issue for me. I'm tired (and have been) of people acting like Rees is a horrible QB. A Honda Accord is not a Lambourghini Diablo, but it's still a pretty nice car. Tommy Rees is a Honda Accord.

I completely agree with that but if there is a chance you have a Lambo in the garage and your driving an Accord dont you wanna open up the damn door to see for yourself?

That depends on the drive you are going on. Kelly put Rees in and Rees did enough not to lose the starting job....... until last night. As much as I have defended Rees, I was on the live chat, calling for Rees to be benched at halftime. Ask anyone who was there. Rees was completely ineffective yesterday. For the first time this season. He's had rough games, but he never looked completely lost and ineffective, until last night. So he got benched. Pay attention next year; if Hendrix gets the starting nod, and has a couple of rough games? Some of the same people who are singing his praises right now will be screaming for Golson, and calling Kelly an idiot for not going to Golson earlier.

Despite Rees' ineffectiveness last night, the kid has shown a ton of guts and character over the last two seasons. He hasn't always been great, but he's never been horrible for more than one series in a row. People should have more class, and be more thankful for having Tommy around.

I've stated that I was Tommy's biggest fan but the inability to complete a deep ball and the turnover issues have just gotten out of control. The bar has to rise and it's been dropping over the last 3 games. The praises that were being sung were because of the situation that Hendrix was put in and the way he performed in that situation. A RS Freshman QBs 1st meaningful game action is on the road against a top 10 team. He made the correct read on the INT just thrown high (most likely nerves not horrible mechanics) was thrown out for the wolves because our OL flat out was over powered and was trailing 21-0 when he came in. Never was it said that we thought he was our savior, I'm just happy he showed signs of something positive which has been missing the last half of this season.
