Hard to beat the Drew Brees-led Rose Bowl squad.

My favorite team was 1997. I was a freshman there and interest in the football team was mid at best.

Colletto era finally over, Joe Tiller era begins. Brees was a freshman, part of the “worst recruiting class in the Big Ten” that year, and a Billy Dicken led team went 9-3 and got their first bowl win in almost 20 years.

Fanfare for Purdue football became noticeable after that.

Hey all!

I usually drop into opposing team territory the week before a game and answer any questions an opposing fan may have about Purdue in an unbiased manner (former media member)! Looking forward to the game and should be a game where both teams can really see where they stand this year.

Fire away if you have any questions about the Boilermakers this year or the WL area (gameday, restaurants, parking, etc.) if you’re coming to visit!
I hope you lose by 60 and spend the rest of your night crying in a pool of your own tears.

Just playing. You guys will probably win.
I doubt it.

Purdue fans had this game as an auto loss before the season started. Now, I don't think Notre Dame is as good as anticipated and I think Purdue is better than anticipated...but I still think it's an ND win.

I would be surprised if Purdue wins. Talent gap is just too big still.

The game will likely be won in the trenches and I think ND > Purdue on both sides.

I think Purdue would stomp NIU so you might win by 20. Depends on which Notre Dame team shows up the one that doesn’t give a crap or the one that actually tries. The one thing Notre Dame has going for it in terms of motivation is that they know if they run the table they are in the playoffs and so they can’t take any game for granted here on out. That’s either going to lead to an angry motivated team that is going to demolish everyone left on the schedule or it’s gonna be a team that quits and turns on Freeman in the locker room.

We will see. I'm hopeful but also a realist.

Purdue is better and this game will be a great barometer for them. I'm just really nervous about the pass defense. If you told me that Riley Leonard would go off for 300 yards passing...I would not be surprised at all. It's very hit or miss and in the Indiana State game they never threw the ball so I couldn't tell if they were better or not.

Starting a true FR at CB makes me nervous.

Purdue also will need to move the ball...but I think they have a better offense than both NIU and TAMU.

I like Hudson Card. Wanted him before learning Hartman was on board.

He was poor last year. When you lose your best OL to injury and have to start 3rd string guards at center you don't have much time to throw. He was also hurt for a few games and played through broken ribs.

The WR's were terrible too.

He's good though. We will see how good today.

Is it a mandate for females to be 200+ to get into PU? Or is that just a coincidence?

Sorry my man but I think you've officially won the only game you'll win all year

Must admit, I was surprised how poorly the game went for Purdue. It’s hard to go from a dominating win to a dominating loss and feel you have anything figured out. Good luck surprising some of your conference foes!

They’ll win some games. I think ND just came out with more intensity.

Oregon State will be a good barometer - if they can’t get up for that one. Might only win 2 games.

I don’t think they did anything the past two weeks truthfully.

Purdue's run defense is also a question mark this year. They use five down linemen and none of them really impress that much despite being big. They are solid against the run one game and then terrible the next. I'd like to see better tackling from the LB's coming up to the line to make plays. Purdue can definitely be gashed in a zone run scheme but they do a great job of plugging the middle usually since they play 3 DT's.

The biggest issue - that irks everyone is the QB contain. Purdue continually gets burned when the QB runs with the ball. It's like they do not have any sort of contain set up. Schrader at Syracuse ran for over 200 yards and 4 TD's on Purdue last year. That's what scares me the most because with playing 90% man-to-man that really exposes the defense for the QB run. With Leonard being able to run the ball - I think he should get 10-15 carries and could easily, easily run for over 100 yards in the game.
Bingo.

Stadium seemed real quiet from the kick off? Or was that just bad CBS audio?

What was there to be loud about?
For sure. Hey man, good on you for showing back up after that.

Your offense should be able to do some things the rest of the way, but your D is going to have to come on a bit. Hopefully Walters can work some magic on that side for you guys.
