My nephew (and godson) was just informed that he made varsity for the defending Texas Division 2 -- 5A State Champion (and according to some mags the 2007 National Champs!) Katy High School Tigers. He was one of only 19 Juniors to do so. They asked him to move from ILB to DE and once he said he'd do whatever the team needs, they gave him the good news. I just wish I lived closer so that I would get a chance to see him play.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my good news.

What a great 500th post for me!!!!

Cool. Just don't let him become a Longhorn!

Oh God I hope not. He used to be a huge ND fan, but has lived in the Houston area for so long that his loyalties are changing to the Texas schools. If he happens to get lucky enough to get even a partial scholarship, he'll go wherever and to whoever offers.

Thanks to all for the congrats.

I know this is from The Bleacher Report so who knows the credibility of the writer, but I thought I'd share this article. The school my nephew will play for is ranked the #2 high school program of all time behind De La Salle based on winning percentage, alumni, facilities, etc.... I noticed there are 3 Texas teams on here and 4 from Cali.

I just found out my nephew's team, the Katy Tigers, advanced to the Texas Division 2 -- 5A state championship game again this year. They started out the season slow, but have been dominating as of late. One more to go!

For those of you who get Fox Sports SouthWest, the Katy Tigers take on the Abilene Eagles for the Texas 5A division 2 championship title Saturday, December 19 at 7 p.m. Central time. It will be televised live. Katy is going for a three-peat and my nephew (and godson) is the starting RDE for the Katy Tigers. I am so very proud of him. Can't wait till game time!! I purchased the sports pack from DirecTV just for this game!!

Anyway... should be some great high school football from the state of Texas! Here is a preview...

Go Katy! Go Bubba's nephew. Is the era of Odessa Permian dominance semipermanently over?

Katy has been the Texas 5A team of the decade. I don't have all the stats at my disposal, but they have won more games and titles in the 2000s than Southlake Carroll, who have been a dominant force in Texas High School Football.

It's all because of me (see location).

But you're a Woodlands fan. And, yes, I have to admit they are the only team to have beaten Katy this year. Too bad they couldn't continue winning as Katy has!!

Katy had one of the toughest schedules in the state and even defeated Bellevue, WA .. Washington state's 4A state champion.

What grade is your Nephew in? Any offers? Notre Dame needs DE's

He's a Senior. Looking at Division 2, but he's not sure. Wants to wait until after the season to really think about it. Probably doesn't have the physical ability to play D-1. He'll play D3 for sure, but is more concerned about academics than football.

Already has 1 D2 and a few D3 schools that want him. The D2 school is willing to offer a scholly I believe.

Also, he'd play LB in college. Just doesn't have the size for DE at that level.
