Stanford: Not nearly as close as last year. I hope I can get tickets to this one. (Note: If I'm in the stands that's bad. I'm a harbinger of losses.)

Just stay home then, Guff. Besides, the beer is cheaper and there are no lines to the bathroom!!

good post Guff...........except that coaching & talent win games, (not necessarily seniors). I agree with Jigga......we'll be on cruise control until Los Angeles. Some of you just don't understand how hard it is to beat USC at home! If we have any losses.......it will be this game. Petey is cutting his practices short because the offense looks so good!

why is eveyone worried about Michigan, same coach, same QB that couldn't score on our D til the 4th quarter last year. It's all about confidence, if we play confident, with a definite purpose of being #1 nobody beats us. 13-0, offense averages 43.6 points per game defense allows 17.9. I agree that FSU could be in the hunt.

I am going with one loss in one of the 1st four games. Not sure which one will bite us but think one will nip us. But, doubtful anyone else runs the table unless WVU beats Louisville then they could sneak in untouched. Setting up a reunion in the desert WVU vs. ND for all the marbles.

Also, you were talking about fire Charlie sites. This idiot had this up shortly after the Fiesta Bowl: cancharlie.com

Well we now have a good feel for what all the pundits are saying, how practice is going and how our opponents look. What is everyone's prediction on the season? If you pick us to lose any games please name the team. And what bowl do you think we will be in. I think it will be fun to see how close we all get.

My prediction:

11-1, lose to Michigan. BCS title game vs. Florida St.

13-0.

Period.

Thanks for all the love everyone

why is eveyone worried about Michigan

#1. It a rival, anything can happen #2. They are talented the talent may be misused but there is talent. Henne, Hart, Breaston and Manningham are weapons and they could hurt you if you're not prepared. Which leads me to #3. I think it is a 'trap' game. I think it's perfect spot for ND to start getting full of themselves, start slacking off just a little.

Here's the nightmare scenario that I envision. Game 1. ND takes on Ga Tech and rips through Atlanta like General Sherman. Game 2. PSU comes to South Bend. ND lays an "back behind the woodshed" beating on them. Now the hype machine hits high speed. The media falls in love with ND, everyone starts singing their praises, the defense starts getting hyped then comes Michigan and the big let down. The team doesn't get into game until the 2nd quarter and by then it's too late.

But I think two things prevent that - Michigan is a huge rival that ND won't take lightly and Charlie. It happened to his teams twice last year. It won't happen again.

Only two tough road games.

I don't buy that at all.

From some other thread.......
"Best Chance to beat ND" or something..

This is my pre-season power list for, and only for,.......... "Best Chance to beat ND"

In order:
UM - Why?.........It's Michigan
USC - Why?........Away game, it's USC
MSU - Why?.......Away game, Stanton
GT - Why?..........Away game, first game of the season
PSU
UCLA
UNC
Stanford
Navy
Purdue
Air Force
Army

Three of those four toughest games are on the road. That's tough.

I'm just sayin'............

For some reason, I see Tech being a much tougher road game than MSU. We've won the last couple games in East Lansing.

I just think we have a smart confident group here. They are 18-23 year old kids but I don't think with the coaching and leadership of this program that anyone will get full of themselves, or not realize the impact of a game against Michigan or any other opponent for that matter. This is not a bunch who will be looking ahead, and won't be prepared for any game. Michigan is comming to our house, and to think that the Irish won't be "up" for that game (whatever that means) is absolutely perposterous. Maybe I'm thinking more on logic, then the "magic" of a team that's fired up and has their game-faces on. (insert Bobby Knight interview) If ND loses it will be because they got outplayed, not because of a lack of preperation. Big up to your posts Guff!

Is it just me or would any one else like to kick Ivan "Lurch" Maisel in the yam bag?

Another huge ND hater.

If we get past the first 4 games unbeaten. 13-0 I think the Michigan game will be the toughest. UCLA will be down this year compared to last, but will still be tough. I think PSU is overated, and I can't wait for us to woop on Purdue and Michigan State. If we get to USC undefeated we will school em. We'll claim California as ours and shove the poodle in the ocean with his pretty poofy tail up his ass.

13-0 period!
I just don't see CW allowing a let down.....
Michigan is michigan...great talent crappy coaching...
I think our toughest game very well may be a team we should completely wipe the field with...that is where we will need coach to get their heads right....

and OH MY GOD i hired a skunk bear grad...what is the world coming too!!!

... You can't be John David and play football. Fashion designer, interior decorator, Broadway producer, maybe. Football player no way.

So does John David Crow have to give his Heisman back?

He won the year after Hornung. He was "mean" and "tough" when those words had meaning in football.

You can't be John David and play football

Really?

He was a 60 Minute Man.

He was one of Bear Bryant's Junction Boys.

He won the Heisman despite playing injured. As a RB scored 6 TDs and threw for 5 more, also had 5 INTs as a DB.

He was also a Scholastic All-American that season.

And he was elected to the College Hall of Fame.

Football player no way

Cute line but dead wrong.

John David was a hell of a football player - in every way!

You might do better with "booty" jokes.

But that is an obivous joke, way too easy to be funny. And as far is not being historically accurate. RELAX dude. It was a freggin' joke. So there is one John David that could play football - he's exception to the rule. And from what I hear his friends called him Biff.

It's time to evaluate how we are doing. I picked 11-1 and losing michigan, I think that was pretty good. I also picked them to play FSU, I think that was pretty idiotic.

I had us going 10-3 with losses to Mich, USC and the Sugar Bowl (to Louisville, oops).

Hate to do it, but I'm sticking to the 10 - 3 record. Still think we'll play in the Sugar Bowl, but I'm jumping on the Arkansas bandwagon.

I hope you are wrong but it looks like you have a chance to be the super prognosticator.
