You think we'll make the BCS as a 3-loss team? That would require absolute chaos among the top-25.

Edit: Just realized you could be predicting a loss to BSU. You'd put us in the BCS only to lose to Boise State!? WTF, man!

Bold. If that one loss comes against a surprisingly strong UM or USC, we'd be talking NC game.

Also, is it safe to assume that these 10-3/ BCS predictions are 10-2 with a BCS loss?

Yes.

Many of us, myself included, are predicting a loss to Michigan State. Sparty is not BCS caliber. Alabama made them look like my old third grade flag football team. It depends on who we play in the bowl, but I have a hard time seeing us beating a BCS caliber program if we have trouble beating Sparty.

I could see this team ending anywhere from 7-5 to 12-0. The truth is, no one here as a clue what will happen, might as well think they'll do well in August and be happy until it doesn't happen. :)

For the real record, 9-3 is my benchmark for an acceptable regular season.

Also, I think a lot of people are taking Michigan. A night game in the Big House is too mysterious for my liking.

It doesn't work that way. By that logic, our losses to UM, Tulsa, and Navy signalled guaranteed failure against a ranked Utah, USC, and Miami. Yet we still beat those teams.

Vegas says we're likely to lose 2-3 games, so many of us will naturally pick our 2-3 toughest opponents (pre-season) as the likely losses: MSU, USC, and Stanford. Perfectly reasonable. I think we're likely to beat MSU and USC, lose narrowly to Stanford, and drop another random game (probably Air Force).

God I hope we don't drop every one of those games, like you think. That would make this season a complete failure in my eyes. If we win 3/5 of those I'd be alright. We'd also be 11-2 :eek:grin:

'Man' -I cant be that specific but right now I'm stuck on 9 1/2 wins and 2 1/2 loses. I think they will win the bowl game. Right now the offense is bothering me. Never imagined that under Kelly but if someone gets hurt the next guy in is reliable but not explosive. My loses are USF (already taken heat for that ) MSU and either Stanford or Maryland. If they beat Stanford and Maryland they should be in a BCS game. But once again I am preparing for a tough start against USF. Of course I would like to be dead wrong and see this defense smother people and make the offense's job a bit easy.

An 8-4 or 9-3 finish virtually guarantees us a berth in the Champs Sports Bowl, in which we'd face the #3 ACC team. Most analysts are projecting that team as either NC State or Miami.

You think we'd lose in a bowl game against either of those teams? I don't.

I would not be surprised. As you know, for a long time ND has had the stigma of not being able to beat teams that they should be mopping the floor with Navy, Syracuse, Uconn to name a few. Until ND starts to consistently beat teams like the aforementioned, I will remain cautiously optimistic on predicting wins against other teams that ND should be beating especially when it comes to a bowl game.

If we're good enough to get to the Champs Sports Bowl with our schedule, we're definitely good enough to beat either of those teams.

Overall Record: 12-1 or 11-2 (USC Toss Up)
Wins: USF, UM, MSU, Pitt, Purdue, AF, USC, Navy, WF, Maryland, BC, Fiesta Bowl
Losses: Stanford (I want to say we don't lose this one, but I hate to get my hopes up for an undefeated season. The team was straight handled in this game last year too so it makes for the most logical loss this year.)
Toss up: USC, Stanford (We beat USC for the first time last year. They still have a **** ton of talent though. They will be tougher than MSU IMO though.)
Offensive MVP: Cierre Wood (~1100, 6.3 YPC)
Defensive MVP: Darius Fleming (76 Tackles, 19.5 TFL, 9.5 sacks, 2 INT) or Manti Te'o (156 Tackles, 8.5 TFL, 2 sacks, 3 INT)
Bowl Game: Fiesta v. Boise State
Best Tailgating Beer: N/A
Inanimate object most likely to meet its demise: Computer chair. I think it's the last piece of furniture I broke. I snapped off the wheels while slamming it on the floor. :) I have a bit of a temper.

Oh and yes, we go to the Fiesta Bowl against Boise either way. lol

Do all these people predicting 11-1 regular season records realize that could easily put us in the NC game?

It seems unlikely that we'll have multiple undefeated teams this season (Boise State and TCU excepted), so depending on when, how, and against whom that loss comes, ND would have a strong case to play for the MNC.
