For me, its just nice to have this team shutup certain posters. (If you're still posting tonight, you're good in my book). We have lost to 2 top 25 teams, which is respectable. Just enjoy the ride brothers!! Let the Haters hate while we go on a good win streak. Peace to you all, love to the Irish. Feeling good, but I'm too drunk for this ****! Good night gentlemen!!!

The defense argument is tired. How many times has the offense put the defense in a bind? They aren't last year, but they aren't weis years either. Be happy with progress.

SMH.

THIS IS WHAT I'M SAYING! Jesus, I give Diaco mad props and I get hammered, lol.

This is what I said:

"I will give Diaco huge credit for making 2nd half adjustments.

Carlo/Fox played better than the MLBs in the 1st half, and he started running 'stunts' with the DL, which generated inside pressure. Rather than the DEs running themselves out of the play, they bull rushed inside and look what it did.

Kuehnja is very happy with Diaco, especially because he showed that he can make in game adjustments which has not been his strength."

I swear some people just want to argue.

Yeah im one to argue. I just take posts at face value.

If I mistook your intention, I apologize .. I may be a bit under the influence.

Bbbuuuutttttt.... the defense argument is tiring.

I thought Ishaq was good in rushing the passer. He didn't register a sack, but he caused two of them by forcing the QB into another defender.

Ok, I will refrain from giving the defense and Diaco credit in the future...

I guess some of us just read your post as:
Man, this team is crappy and our coaches are clueless. But, you know, they sucked less today, so that's cool.

I was on the board with you in real time. You made some suggestions that worked and some that didn't. There's a reason the Bob Diaco had one of the 2-3 best defenses in the country last year and there's a reason that we're on a message board talking about it.

It's fun to talk about. But none of us really know what we're talking about. I give the most credit to those people who are humble and rely on statistics to prove their points.

I find that sometimes you are dismissive and argumentative.

That's not my problem. If you read my post, it's nothing but positive for Diaco.

You said he was good today at adjusting, but that he generally sucks at it. Right?

Lol, putting words in my mouth again to cause an argument.

Is saying '2nd half adjustments has not been Diaco's strength in the past' the same as saying 'Diaco sucks'???

Not to mention, you're completely avoiding the point of my post, which was to give Diaco credit, and only focusing on the one thing you can twist into a negative.

This is a you problem. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my post:

1. I apologize if I misinterpreted your comments.

2. I'm really calm. I'm actually sitting with my dog who is asleep.

3. You are the powder keg on this board. Not me. You have started threads about firing people and seem to always find yourself in a mono a mono battle with someone or another.

If you're frustrated about arguments, look in the mirror for just a moment.

Good night.

I looked in the mirror. You tried to start an argument over nothing, not me. That was weak.

It's fine, but it's irritating when people try to argue just to argue because 'it's kuehnja and he'll have something to say'. I said nothing but good things in that comment.

I always have an opinion which leads to a lot of arguments, but I never am offensive or cross the line. If you pay attention, yes, I have a voice but I'm never pushy or offensive like some. I encourage debate on here. It's how I learn more about team/football/coaching/styles/recruiting,et, but some people get too sensitive and all of a sudden it's a contest of 'who can make the other one look like an idiot'.

It's all good though.

Go Irish! **** USC,

-Difference in the defense was the corners were more aggressive in attacking the bubble routes.
They got off blocks and made tackles (like they did all of last season)... oh and Jaylon is arriving.
-Still confused on why we refuse to match personnel.
What's wrong with getting more db's on the field when teams spread us out?
-We only get to watch this team 12 times a year, 13 if we're lucky. I refuse to **** and complain about Tommy anymore. I dislike him as a player, but there's nothing I can do about it.
-GA3 really could be awesome if he had any vision.

I was at the game are here are my thoughts:

Rees is a very limited QB. He lacks touch on deep passes, as a couple were under or over thrown. He also makes at least one horrible pass a game that lands in the other team's lap. He is very late with some of his decisions when the whole stadium can see one of his WR is wide open, but he misses them. But, he is also a class act and a battler .. so he will always give you a chance.

Kona Schwenke saved the Irish today. He blew up two 3rd down plays all by himself. This guy gets good penetration, and he and Nix were destroying ASU's running game all night.

People are too hard on GAIII. The ASU d-line blew up ND's OL on several plays and he had nowhere to go. He tried to make something out of absolutely nothing. I think it has to do with play calling .. they run him outside the tackles consistently while Cam gets all the interior runs. The ASU defensive ends were getting penetration and thus shutting off GAIII's running lanes, while Cam had the opportunity to run inside and pick his way through a less talented DT front for ASU.

Troy Niklas is going to be a monster. He can seal block as well as a lineman and he is just athletic enough to be a good receiver. He's an NFL TE for sure.

#22 Elijah Shumate played well. He was a solid tackler today and seemed to be around the ball quite a bit.

Ben Koyak had a nice early TD catch. Good for him!

Read the first page and wanted to puke. Did we not just upset the #22 ranked team, a team favored by 6 pts over us and who most thought would just roll us?

And yet so many people are complaining. WTF am I missing? Are ND fans EVER ****ing happy?

Sorry, but I refuse to be miserable or even a little mad about this win. The team obviously has some flaws, but life is too short to be complaining even when good things happen to you. I'm going to enjoy watching all things college football again, and listening to all my favorite podcasts again.

Cheers to a good win!

well, well, well...hey we won so that's a plus...we're not bad, but not great...im soooo sick of the delay of game penalties/timeouts wasted to avoid them...how many has saban had? that's just **** poor...cant give the qb 15 f@@kin seconds to get the play called and then make his checks...tommys not a great qb but that's not all his fault...im startin to fall in love with jaylon...nice of the DL to show up tonight...its a big boost when they do...there is some talent on this team...we still have a chance to have a very good season...oh yeah, and we have the condoms next (but I have bye weeks)

gonna go back and watch it tomorrow but on that PI call with DD, it looked like he caught the ball. I know the announcers seemed to think the ball hit the ground on the reply but I didn't see it. Anyone rewatch it? Did it hit the ground?

- Cam McDaniel is an extremely underrated running back. No, he doesn't have home run speed and he's not the kind of back to juke you out of your shoes, but he hits the hole hard and he's tough to bring down. He's really growing on me.

- Someone else said earlier that Tommy had a "typical Tommy game". I agree with that wholeheartedly. He is what he is; he'll make a couple of impressive throws then throw a duck out of nowhere. He had a couple of high throws, and one truly awful pick, but he played a very solid game overall tonight.

- Offensive line did a good job in pass protection tonight.

- Really wish the offense would clean up the pre-snap penalties.

- Atkinson had a few tough runs tonight, but too often he dances around in the backfield and doesn't hit the hole. Not a fan of that.

- T.J. Jones was great tonight.

- The defense has their best game of the year, IMO. Shembo was a monster, Jaylon was flying all over the field, Tuitt was the man we thought we'd see this season, Nix got great penetration when he wasn't getting double and triple teamed, Ishaq and Schwenke got good penetration as well, and Jackson played a great game. Just an overall impressive performance from the defense.

- I know he's just a true freshman, but it's a bit concerning to me that Redfield can't get on the field over Farley at this point.

- Just how good is Jaylon Smith going to be? He was very, very impressive tonight.

- Brindza had a great game, as did Wulfeck.

- Very unfortunate that Daniel Smith and Jarrett Grace went down tonight. Here's to wishing them a speedy recovery.

- Great win. Are we perfect? No. Are we making progress? Definitely.

I didn't hear it mentioned on TV but Dan Fox's Pick 6 should have been flagged for his Unnecessary dive into the End Zone.

Had that happened ASU probably would not have gotten their last possession as ND would have chewed up the clock on a first and goal.

1. As whiskey has observed before; at some point we are going to have to quit bitching about the limitations of this team long enough to praise them for never giving up, for fighting to make plays until the very end, and for being pretty resilient in the face of adversity. No matter the record, THIS is a team that is worthy of our respect, and exhibits some of the best qualities that the University of Notre Dame stands for.

having said that...........

2. The playcalling is, at times, baffling. But I'm sure that I don't always see the logic behind it. And that, if I did, I would probably understand it.

3. There is an obvious disconnect with the decision making processes of Davaris Daniels, related to Tommy Rees. There are too many instances of Daniels going one way, and Rees throwing another. Whatever the coaches need to do, they need to get it fixed.

4. The Defense played hard............. they came up with some HUGE stops when they needed to. Congrats to them.

5. NBC's broadcast was horrible. When Daniel Smith got injured, they went to commercial simply saying, "There's an injured Notre Dame player on the field". After the commercial, they informed us that it was Daniel Smith, but I never heard them update us on what the injury was, nor did they ever show us a replay of how he got hurt.

6. Tommy had a typical Tommy game. He looked very good on some drives, and like a rookie on others. I'm tired of debating Tommy, so I'm just going to leave it at that.

The bottom line is that I am looking forward to attending the USC game in two weeks.... and that's good enough for me!

Agree they play hard...good kids...

But that run of momentum killing ridiculousness that was the 4th quarter is indicative of the entire year...they just cannot play with the consistency to take over a game...can't.

They take control of MO heading into he 4th...and then throw a pick 6, turn around and give up a 3rd and 20 or something, and then GAIII runs like he doesn't know how to follow blockers...they survive all of that, make a play on D to seal the deal...BUT NO WAIT, they do some idiot crap where they don't care to burn time off the clock as much as they can, let ASU march right the hell down the field and have to face an onsides kick...No reason to HAVE to work like they do...if they'd stop shooting themselves in the foot at horrible times ...and over extended periods of time handing MO back to the other team over, and over, and over. Good lord! Again, no leadership on either side of the ball to speak of that can stop the momentum killing ridiculousness...Just gonna start turning the sound off and playing keystone cops music whenever we are about to take MO ...because I know whats coming....at least the music makes it funny.

Pass coverage is still not something to be proud of...but pressure did help them.

QB completion % needs to be closer to 70% than 50% to make it to Stanford w/o picking up another L...come on now! Receivers are making plays (when they run the right route)...otherwise...ugh!

McDaniel is a RUNNING BACK...just sayin'. If he'd get 15-20 carries, we might gain the ability to keep MO....because it WILL NOT happen from the QB spot based on what I've seen.

Go Irish! **** USC,

I'm with Jayhwak on this. Diaco made great adjustments last year. Go back and look at some of the second half defensive statistics. This year he is much more limited in what he can do. You lose Slaughter, Motta, Teo, Spond, and Moore it will make things tough. There is a true freshman playing the hardest position to learn, a talented, but lost safety, Shumate, a not so talented Farley, but understands the defense, and Fox playing like a freshman. The players were put in position to make plays and they didn't make them in previous games. It looked like a more vanilla scheme tonight and it was successful. I hope this continues.

Rees was Rees and I've said it from day one, if he has to throw more than twenty times in a game, there is going to be a really stupid play, it's his MO. Someone mentioned it and I agree, I think Daniels is frustrated with the deep routes and getting terrible throws. I'm all for getting Niklas more involved. Atkinson is finally running like a man.

Overall, all 3 phrases played well, most complete game we have played and just in time for the bye week. Fix some issues and let's kick U$C's a$$.

GA3 actually made some really nice runs tonight, and he is running harder and not going down from arm tackles as much.

He IS however still making bonehead runs trying to make runs that are never going to happen, often for a big loss. If he can learn not to do that he would take the RB job. Either way we have a solid stable of backs at the moment.

Any Irish podcast, I listen to:
Power Hour
II
BGI
Dome and Domer
Official ND podcasts
There is a live one I can't remember the name of, part of the Blog Talk Nation or something like that. Comes out every Tuesday and Thursday, an hr long.

And then there are college football ones:
ESPN has a daily one
CBS Sportsline... 2 or 3 a week
Solid Verbal - twice a week

I have a 25-30 commute, plus ill listen when doing work around the house. But when we lose, I usually try and avoid listening and being even more miserable LOL. I'll also listen to Bill Simmons, Grantland, and several other types of shows.

And I'll say what I said last night...I can't believe so many Irish fans are pissed after upsetting a 6 pt favorite. Life is too short not to enjoy good moments people!!!

On that ASU touchdown just before halftime, it looked like Kelly was still backing up into his shotgun stance instead of being set before the snap. Shouldn't that have been a penalty (not to mention the delay of game)?
