What a great game! I thought the bar top at the pub where I was watching the game would break because we were all beating on it so much.

True team effort: hats off to KB on his kicks, EG for playing tough, Defense for all they do, and THEO...forever a part of ND-USC lore with that gutty performance. And I love our coaches, too.

I decided to wait a day before posting anything, because I was so pumped after the game that I doubted my perspective.

What impressed me last night and has impressed me all season is the physical and mental toughness of this team. The coaches and the players rise up when adversity makes lesser teams crumble. They reach down and come up with their best performance when the game is on the line. The guys in the trenches, both sides of the ball, are intimidated by no one.

The only single player I am going to name is Mike Golic. That guy has stepped it up and performed when the games get tough.

Where are the calls from the talking heads that our Admissions are too tough to get the "Elite" players in to SB?

Where are the calls from the talking heads saying that we're irrelevant and should join a conference because we're treading water as an independent?

So proud of this football team and University. You've allowed people like us to believe again. We Are...N.D.

I've been able to enjoy the NC teams since the 60's. I don't remember ever feeling quite this good. I guess it's because of the missed expectations for quite a few years. To be able to share thoughts with other Irish faithful on this board is great. It let's you know there is no other college football team in America that can raise this kind of passion from coast to coast. This team displayed a pride and desire that is required for a team to win it all.

Bring on anyone.

I agree that Mike stepped his game up. So did Farley. Both these guys dialed it up and were playing above their typical selves. Leave everything on the field!

With all the conference realignment going on, ND couldn't have done this at a better time.

12-0!!!

Theo Riddick played with a purpose, he was an animal. He carried the offense.

Manti was Manti. Enough said.

The speed of SC scared me. Lee and Wood are unreal. Our corners are so young and they still hung in there. I can't wait to see them in the future.

I love how our defense gets stronger as the game goes on. Their endurance is incredible, and it seems like a switch clicks in their psyche igniting a mean streak. Very proud of our defense and Diaco.

My only complaint is in the red zone with our offense. The drive where we drove down the field on the back of Theo Riddick up to the 3 yard line and we come out in an empty backfield with a QB sneak and 2 fades? I was screaming at my TV to lineup with Theo in the back field and punch SC in the mouth. Our online got a 2-3yard push off the line evry play. We need TD's against Bama or Georgia. 5 FGs wont win us a NC.

But, man. Does this feel great or what? 12-0. Man...if you see any of these guys grab them and give them a big kiss on the mouth...if you're a girl! haaa what a game! 12-0 baby!

I think we'll be playing Georgia. Im selling Alabama. I dont think theyre very good.

If Everett and Eifert get on point within the 20, no one can stop us.

I think we have 44 days to work out more than a few issues about our redzone offense. From getting on point with players, to getting on point with playcalling in the redzone. The redzone has been our achillies heal all season. We had 5 FG's last night, if we had 2 TDs instead we wouldve won 30-13.

FG's will not win us the NC, we need a few TD's mixed in. FG's, after long drives, are wins for the defense and give momentum to the other side. I am certain we will have a few wrinkles mixed in, and be much more efficient with 44 days to game plan.

Man I am so excited. I just sat their staring at my TV in shock. I wasnt screaming, yelling, just staring at the TV thinking Wow they really did it.

Keivarae is going places. So are Bennett and Mathias. That second pass interference call on Kevairae was a phantom call don't you think. Was that why B.K. was so hot with the officiating crew shortly after?

I'm pretty sure Kelly was livid because USC went and did the "Bush Push" again like in 2005 and the refs failed to flag USC for this. Only this time, not even an illegal push from a running back could help USC get in the endzone.

I think he was actually mad because someone stopped the clock for no reason after one of the goaline stuffs and he was telling the officials it was "on you."

One thing I loved to see was that when Martin went down briefly with an injury, Manti and Kap both ran out to walk with him off the field. This team is tight.

Makes sense. Thanks for that. No it did not work this time and in my opinion it didn't work then either, if the whistle had blown at the appropriate time. Anyone can score eventually if you never whistle a play dead. That play still pisses me off. GO IRISH!

Also a legitimate theory. I'm guessing there's no radio interview today with B.K. staying out west to recruit. I'd like someone to ask him about it.

Another thing, I think it was that last punt by S.C.; the punter was around their 5 or 10 yard line, the snap was low and he fielded it with one knee on the ground ( at least it looked that way to me on the television). If I'm right and I think I am, shouldn't that have been marked down on that spot and given to us, first and goal? Anybody else see that, not that it matters, just looking for thoughts here.

Didn't notice it and I rewatched the game last night around 1 am looking at holds that weren't called and the PI calls. Could have been. I didn't notice the clock stoppage either.

The best part of all of this is that this team is going to get a ton of extra practice time. It's going to help the young guys, in particular Golson big time. A month of extra practice against the best defense in the country and I fully expect our offense to play great in the NC.

Oh, and I love you guys. What. A. Feeling.

I do wish Kelly would have ran the ball instead of emptying the backfield. Riddick was having his way and the big uglies were doing a fantastic job.

Loved how Diaco blitzed with both safeties. That low pass by Wittek was a result of being rushed and not having experience in that situation. Diaco knew just the right time to bring the heat.

Great contributions from all phases in this game.

What a time for Kelly to stay out west to recruit. Do you think he even needs to say anything to a recruit other than, "Hi, I'm Brian Kelly, Head Coach of the undefeated Fighting Irish of Notre Dame."

Is it January yet?

Best job all year by 4 out of the 5 lineman.

74 had his hands full.

Golic Jr. was doing great on those pulling blocks and I liked the way Riddick was getting yards after contact.

An additional month of practice is more benefical to Golson at his level of development than to either McCarron or Murray at their's. Both are finishing their 4th year in a Div 1 program.

Murray is ranked #1 in NCAA QB EFF and McCarron is #2. Golson is way down at #61 but he's been climbing up the list for several weeks.

Agree 100% about it being more beneficial for EG. I still hate giving either SEC team a month to prep for our D. Our secondary, although they've done a terrific job, still keeps my heart/stomach/nerves on edge. I also hope our young DBs take advantage of the time as well. I think Golson and the WRs/TEs need to go play our DBs in a 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 each and every day till the game.

Question on 93 squad

Question on 93 squad

I thought the NC was vacated by FSU, wouldn't that mean that Nd won the NC that year?

I thought they'd play well and they played better. southern cal to their credit gave it all they had but this game belonged to the Irish. The long pass was well defended and it showed me alot about how far the d-backs have come. The o line/d line was spectacular and Manti needs to be given very high Heisman consideration. He may win this thing after that performance by his defense. Keep in mind that 5 trips to the red zone produced only field goals. If they put 2/3 touchdowns on the board its a blowout. I have a 74 year old ND graduate that is a dear man and to see his happiness after this was beyond words. I teared up - and as Pat Forde said 'dismiss Notre Dame at your own perile SEC champion'. All I wanted was to be 0-9 in my picks and for the Irish to be undefeated in the regular season-I got much more. Go win one more game. That train we've be listening for for the last 15 years just got a bit louder.

Just watched the game again. It was amazing watching Riddick. He always ran north and south. He shook off linebackers and defensive ends behind the line of scrimmage, turning losses into gains. He made the first guy at the next level-sometimes a LB sometimes a safety- miss time and again. Then, once three guys had him downfield he still fought for yards. He caught everything thrown to him. He is a nightmare for D-coordinators who have to choose between three linebackers or two in trying to defend ND. There isn't a linebacker in the country that can hang with him on a pass route. I'd like to see him utilized more inside the 10 yard line.
