Personally I think there aren't very many 4 star kids out there who even care about Notre Dame and the tradition. its getting to a point where we haven't won in so long that kids don't really care. But if the next coach can win with not so great players recruits will start rolling in. One thing I will say though is I don't think we will see the recruits that we were getting under weis for a longgg time

that was a brilliant call, but the wild cat didn't help us in our end. i'm just tired now.....i hate to lose a game like this. and i think cw's time is done.
i think he knows it, the players play like it. no inspiration tonite. tenuta is garbage.

You hire me as a contractor to put a roof on your house. I then hire & send some kid with no idea what he's doing out to your house to do the job. When the water starts pouring in your house after the 1st rain who do you sue? Me or the kid who works for me that did a terrible job?
Obviously you sue me because I'm responsible for every employee & I'm responsible for quality of the product & craftsmanship I sold you. Same thing can be said here. As the Head Coach Charlie is responsible for everything. Putting incapable people in the positions they are is his doing.

College football doesn't work like that bud. there is a huge difference between a 2 point loss and a 50 point loss, and that can be the difference between being in the top 10 and being out of the top 25

Fine the fault lies with the guy in charge but that doesn't excuse the the guy in control of our defense from any criticism or accountability. We all thought Tenuta was a great hire....guess what what? He has been our great down fall. I thought this was the place to discuss that.

Yah and the 5 other series that went 3 and out (or close to it). If your great game plan includes getting smacked in the chicklets by the Stache, then all the more power to you bro. You can only blame the players for so long until you realize that standing on the side is the guy who is supposed to be teaching them.

Nobodys refuting that claim but rather trying to get you to understand that his failure is Charlies failure. The responsibility at this point rests solely on the head coach.
Either way Tenuta will be gone regardless of what happens with Charlie. Everybody knows it & this is why you don't see a bunch of headhunters calling for his job.

This game was lost up front. No pass rush again. Our D plays zone behind a blitz and the blitz rarely gets home, leaving huge gaps for opponents QB's to pick us apart. Same tired old story for the D. They played hard, but gave up huge plays in critical situations. IMO Mr. Williams should speak out again this week.
On offense Weis was really vanilla early. Pitt's defensive ends just Teed off on Clausen. Our tackles get abused on a weekly basis, yet are provided no help. Can we please have a back chip an end. How about double teaming the other team's best pass rusher. Maybe move the pocket. Or even better solution. RUN THE FOOTBALL. For what seems to be the 100th time in Charlie Weis' career we abandon the run. Allen looked good when he was fed the rock.
In the end it was a furious rally, but one falling short because of a lack of discipline and our two tackles getting dominated. Extremely frustrating...

True, my point was that losing 4 games by 50 or losing 4 games by a few points won't really make a difference if you lose 4 games. Losing games doesn't win championships. Almost winning doesn't win championships. When they put a column next to losses titled Almost Wins, then I'll care about how we almost beat USC.
The fact that we almost beat a ton of people doesn't change the fact that when you go back and look at the overall stats, its counted as a loss.
Willingham was fired because people felt he would keep us in a constant state of mediocrity. And Charlie Weis said after his first season "9-3 isn't good enough" Well yeah you're right Chuck it isn't good enough and neither is 7-5 or 8-4

Yeah I'd like to win every game we play. But we're not doing that. I don't care about how we almost beat USC or UM or Navy. We also almost lost to MSU, Purdue, BC, and UW. If you count almost wins, you gotta count almost losses too

I don't know what chart you're looking at but 5 punts, a INT & a FG over almost 3 quarters does not win football games & does not scream good play calling to me.

I looking at a poster who said there were 5 three and outs. The pick in the 2nd killed any chance of us getting the ball back. The 3rd could have easily of ended with a score had we chosen to run a play. Weis called a good game. Not great, but we were in it until the end.
