1. What a heartbreaking loss.

2. Michael Floyd is BY FAR the best receiver on the team, and ABSOLUTELY one of, if not THE best receiver(s) in the country.

3. Brian Smith is our best linebacker, and probably would start (probably not star, but start) on just about any major DI-A school.

4. The team did not quit. They had plenty of opportunities, but they fought to the end. IF you can ever be proud of a loss, this is one of them

5. Game balls to Armando Allen and the offensive line. Armando's numbers: 21 carries, 139 yards(6.6 yards per carry), 1 TD, with a long run of 24. The offensive line gave Clausen plenty of time to throw, on damn near every pass attempt.

6. The defensive is just good. Not great, not very good, but good. This is a positive, considering that they were BAD, last year. The D actually played very well in spots, today. But, when it counted; with a 3 point lead and 2:13 left in the game, they allowed Michigan to pretty easily move 58 yards in 9 plays.

Overall, I am happy with how much better this team is playing, this year. But this is one that slipped away. It's a heartbreaker, for sure.

I HATE sam young. 3 holding calls on him alone. Dissapointed in the loss but I still saw good things from this team. Believe it or not I'm not going to say fire Weis. Give him the whole season. Its only 1 loss and I counted this as a loss anyway. We can still get into a BCS game and run the table. Its still a long season. AND YES I'M HIGH AND DRUNK OFF GUINNESS!!!!!

1. We lost

2. What the heck was wrong with Tate? He picked the worst time to get his only drops of the season.

3. Anybody else notice they never threw at Blanton? Lockdown coverage.

You know the rest.

1. Our offense looks pretty damn good. Jimmy looks solid and our wideouts are amazing. Allen looks to be getting better back there too.

2. Our defense sucks!! We let a freshman QB pick us apart and still can't seem to stop the run.

3. Charlie Weis better start looking for work, cause if ND doesn't run the table from here on out, the alumni are gonna apply some pressure. This was a must win for Charlie.

i posted it else where but a lack of discipline cost us today. Critical penalties. a man out of his lane on the KO return and a missed tackle. Dropped balls. not staying on our feet when forcier scrambled. Flemming got caught a couple of times. B Smith a couple of more.

Our front seven has serious issues. The D-line has been absent. NO PRODUCTION. Linebackers are getting blocked and sealed creating HUGE running lanes.

9-3 and Gator Bowl birth

GO IRISH!!! BEAT SPARTANS!!!

1 Big porps to Armando Allen, Michael Floyd and Jimmy. Greatgame

2 stupid penalties and one HUGE turnover. Get your head out of your ass

3 Our defensive front seven is not suited to defend a dual threat QB

4 Tate Forcier is the real deal. I thought after the second quarter when we were gettin on him and had the momentum, he would fold like a freshamn but the kid can play

:alcohol:

I saw next to no pressure on the qb from the front 4....they let a freshman punk them. for me Darius Fleming is the poster boy for this game...getting clowned by a freshman.

Is Carlo better than that?????

I haven't been on here in a while, but some of you may remember me from last year. This game was a heartbreaker! Yes the refs sucked, and yes, we had some dumb penalties, and yes Tate dropped some key passes. I have been a Charlie supporter from the beginning, but this game falls entirely on his shoulders. We have a far superior team to Michigan and our offense showed that we couldn't really be stopped. When you have 3 minutes left in a game and the lead you should never be thowing down the field. Slants to the ends, screens, or just use the guy who ran for over 100 yards in the game. It is not all about the big play, he wasn't fooling anyone. He lost this game with poor decisions WHEN IT MATTERED. We will win alot of games this year and probably end up 9-3 with a loss to USC and another in a BCS game. Charlie can not motivate nor coach when IT MATTERS. The kids played there hearts out and I feel bad for them. Great recruiter, but doesn't have the goods when it comes down to it. I jhate to continue the merry go round of coaches, but we will not win a big game because of Charlie. This team can do it, and if they do it won't be because he called a brilliant game. It's always the same old thing. We will win because our kids are just far supior to the other team on the field. But if you want to beat the big boys, you need a coach that can calm the team and call the right plays for the situation. Charlie isn't that guy, and I'm not sure who is right now.

Crushing lose - I am interested in seeing how the team pulls together this week in practice. The team never folded and I'm still proud to be an Irish fan.

Yep. And on second and ten with two minutes left, trying to run out the clock, Charlie dials up a 30 yard fly route.

Wow. Blame the refs, blame Tate's drops, blame whoever you want. This one sits squarely on Charlie's shoulders.

I said it before, can't stop the run and we'll lose. I think my observations of last year were validated today.

RichRod is in year 2 with not nearly the players he needs and Weis is in year 5 and can't beat Michigan. I also said before that if ND loses this game don't expect to beat Michigan for years to come.

The problem now is if ND ends up getting rid of Charlie this program will be set back farther.. Rock meet hard place.

I disagree with the playcalling, as well. But this is NOT Charlie's fault. On both of those pass plays, the receiver is open. The players on the field just didn't make the plays. on the Tate pass, Tate has at least two or three steps on the defender. A good pass there is 6 points. But Clausen underthrew the ball. On the pass to Evans, if Jimmy either takes a little bit off of the ball (which you cannot blame him for zipping that pass in there, that is how you are taught to throw the deep out), or if Evans comes out of his break ready to catch the ball, that is a first down.

Charlie put the kids in a position to succeed, on both of those plays, and the kids just didn't come through. You can question the playcalling in that situation, but you can't hang the loss on him.

HE needed to call runs. Hell, have Clausen sprint out and slide down. You run the ball on second down and take five seconds off that clock AND force Michigan to call a timeout, they run out of time on that final drive.

So who called the plays at the end of the game? Jimmy? Knute Rockne? Ty Willingham? Nope, it was Charlie Weis.

Agree with you NDFLA but not on firing Charlie. I'll be setting myself up for some $*+% for this but I think he's the guy. They will win a lot this year and THEY have to learn how to win these games. To waste the Oline effort, Clausen, and Allen with these receivers today was either a wake up call or the beginning of the end. Now they gotta deal with knowing they were the better team and lost. The offensive firepower of this team is something that just cant be wasted. From here they either win alot or fall to mediocrity but to waste that offensive firepower is just not acceptable. They ain't doing it with gimmicks their just pushin it down peoples throats and throwing it like a pro team.

Like I said........you can question the playcalling. I do, too. But the bottom line is......both of those plays WOULD have worked, if the players on the field had made the plays. If those players make those plays, the game is probably over, and ND wins. So they are just as much to blame as Weis. You can question the playcalling, but you can't say Weis blew the game because of it.

One more observation, and I know that I will get a ton of shit for this one. I feel that Floyd is one of, if not the best reciever in the game right now. But it irked me that he was not in on the last series. I know he hurt himself, but he was walking fine on the sidelines. He needs to man up and get his ass back on the field with the game on the line. I am prepared for the attacks and probably deserve them, but this just bothered me.

The same thing happened when we lost to Carolina last year. That game ended up being a spring board to losses at home to Pitt and Syracuse and a 2-5 finish to the regular season.

No, man, those were idiotic play calls. It's on him. Yeah, Clausen could've made a better throw, but the play shouldn't have been called in the first place and so it doesn't matter. He calls the plays. The buck stops some where and this time it isn't with the receivers or Clausen.

What kind of Kool Ade were our coaches drinking at half time?
The third quarter was a coaching disaster; The game was won until this coaching disaster.
The refs were letting the Mich backs push our receivers out of bounds (?no contact after 5 yards??????). So we kept throwing sideline go routes. And out QB kept throwing the ball out of bounds.
We let a freshman QB out play us!
I know a good middle school coach; perhaps we can try this next.

Could be wrong- will say so if I am, but I think this will be a wake up call for more work and to do the small things needed to win. Look I see these guys as college athletes and understand you cant tear them apart after a tough lose but the little things they didnt do at the end of that game is not on the coach- they have to to it under fire to know the feeling of winning. This team has what it takes and they should get better. Now the leadership of the vets comes to full exposure. Clausen just said in a press deal he agrees with coach we have to decide what we're going to do from this point forward. Did you think 2 years ago you'd see him as a leader and this kind of triggerman on offense. Point is give 'em a chance to regroup ,get mad at what they pissed away today, and see if they get it. My guess is they come out hot next week.

We tryed to get the ball to our playmakers. I understand where you are coming from but you also have to see my side of this aswell. Throwing the ball was a high percentage play in that situation.

I'd love to agree but the guys on this team that are supposed to be superstars and leaders have had 15 "wake-up calls" coming into today's game. I don't think, personally, that a
16th wake-up call is going to matter much.
