At first glance, yes. But 3 TDs on 6 drives against a defense ranked in the hundreds is actually total crap and unacceptable.

Yeah, and don't get me wrong, I'm not opening a box score and acting like I know more about what went down than y'all who actually watched this mess.

Really didn't think they would lose this game. As already observed, team seemed to play without passion or confidence. Just like in Miami game, why are we afraid to run the ball and throw it on 3rd and 2? Offensive line and unSpecial Team play rear their ugly heads again.
Might be a sullen Saturday in San Antonio next weekend...at least the margaritas are good.

Houston lost to Navy, just saying. Not like they are slouches and you know they will play us hard every year... for all those wanting coaching changes and Herman or whatever, just consider that before you have a field day on Kelly and Co. I didn't watch the game so I will refrain from talking much. But on Kizer's regression I'd love to see a stat on how many QB pressures he's had this year compared to last? Our offensive line last year was so good, I think often times we take that for granted.

Just like I stayed by the Cubs in their hard times, I'll always stick by my beloved Irish. But man is this season hard to stomach.

On the bright side this is the first Navy loss in the last 50 years that I did not attend so maybe I am not the curse.

They did not lose this game because of the OL. Kiser is just not a very accurate passer. But really this loss was a team effort, and I really hate watching the back-ups and their antics on the sidelines. It looks ridiculous and so fake. If Kelly wants the team to have fun they need to win games.

I'm not here to make any - any excuses. All I am going to say is MY post-game observation was there were a tremendous amount of holds by the Navy offense that were not called.

tremendous amount

Man seriously who gives a shit? ND has SO much better talent that this shouldn't even be a game. I get some teams Navy should give trouble to because they aren't use to the option...Houston, OSU. I get it. But ND sees it every single year and has plenty of tape on defending it.

You are running 4 stars vs 2 stars. Gimme a break.

Awkward. Nd coaches coaching, the team's play, the fake energy on sidelines, the angles we attempt to tackle with, all awkward.

My favorite part of the game is when they showed every team we lost to has a losing record with the exception of a sub-par Stanford team...

ND post game

ND post game

1. Special teams doh

2. Monumental coaching error to kick the field goal in the 4th. But that's par for the course this year.
1. 4th an 2, ND kicks the field goal. Like telling Navy right there we can't compete with you so we will settle for 3.
2. To beat the wishbone the defense needs to penetrate into the backfield. Maybe 2 plays that happened. Otherwise Navy own the line of scrimmage.
3. 15 carried the ball most of the time and defense should have zeroed in on him sooner.
4. Out coached again.

1. Kizer is really struggling. The stats don't tell the whole story in this one. He left a tremendous amount of production on the field. Even completed passes were wildly inaccurate, on easy/remedial throws. Not sure what is going on there but he is straight choking. Opposite of what he did last year, major regression.

2. Defense actually did quite well on early downs. We got them into quite a few 3 and 5+ situations. We failed miserably to get the stops after that. Weren't aggressive enough early on, then turned it up, then stopped again. Not sure where that is coming from but it was frustrating.

3. Very disappointed in McGlinchey. The team is frustrated and now it's displayed on the field. He's shook, Kizer is shook, the team is shook.

4. Which leads me to this, ND came out last week to win. We took it to Miami early and played hard. This was a pathetic sluggish effort, by the team. Not all but some key figures.

5. There is talent on this team. It just doesn't have the right coaches. I'd love to have a re-do on the season with all different coaches in place. Because I do believe this team has the talent to beat everyone we play. It's a top 10, overall, roster per the 247 composite. It's being completely wasted on a 3-6 football team.

#68 is a senior he has way to many illegal procedures called against him this year. Maybe 10 or more, gheesh.

Thought the defensive coaches might of watch the film from the Navy game last week to see what worked for the other team. Guess the winged it.

Navy scored 45 points last week. I'm not sure that the coaches would have gotten too much from that.

How much of the DK shit slide do you put on BK versus Sanford? Serious QU. I blame BK just because I've seen enough of his shit to know he can definitely cause players to regress, but Sanford should be in question too IMO.

One thing that's bothering me is that our entire triple-option defense seems to rely on Martini and Tranquill making the proper decisions. Last year against GT, they did that. We struggled a bit more against Navy last year without Dru, but still got a W. The analytics thing seemed to work last year.

This year, Tranquill goes down and there is literally nobody to fill his role. We're left watching Martini get beat to the edge every time they pitch the ball.

Are our LB's all slower than Martini?
Did the coaching staff simply fail to get somebody ready behind Dru in that "monster" role?

Seems like Bilal would be the perfect guy to give reps behind Tranquill all week as a "just-in-case," but there was no plan once Dru went out. The lack of proper backup options seems to be a theme for the coaching staff.

I think it depends on who is calling the plays and who is doing more individual position coaching in practice; we don't really know the answer to either question.

We already know the staff does not have realistic plan Bs

Rare for me but I barely paid attention after the first quarter. Just a gut feeling that ND was going to lose based on what I had seen early on.

The OL could have played better, the defense could have played better but a lot of this loss came down to Kizer's performance and not just this game. It's been mentioned already but he has clearly regressed recently. It seemed he was playing better when he was splitting some snaps with Zaire but now that he's more or less entrenched as the starter, maybe he's just gotten too comfortable in that role?

I've been an advocate of "name your starter and stick with him" but by halftime I was hoping Zaire would get a look. Kizer *was* a better passer and a good runner but he's been no better that Malik passing recently and MZ is a more dynamic runner.

Also, for all the "name" guys playing on the OL, they're really pretty average as a unit. Maybe it's a matter of chemistry there but I've been pretty disappointed by their performance overall.

I didn't think this team was going to go undefeated this season before it started but at this juncture, 4-8 is looking like a real possibility and I didn't expect that in any way, shape or form.

If it ends at 3-9, Kelly's a$$ should be left at the airport in L.A. That would be tied for Weis in 2007 as the worst record in the past fifty years but Weis was coming off 9-3, 10-3 and had his big extension.

At this point, even Bob Davie and Gerry Faust would probably be upgrades. It's just sad.

Special teams...not liking that shit at all. You can't bench everyone...so now what?

DK's head is messed up. His feet are AFU, and he isn't good mechanically about half the time. He has turned into an inconsistent performer...his balls looked awful today.

Need speed on the D end...because what I saw was < speed.

Navy is ALWAYS going to hold, and ALWAYS block in the back...and ALWAYS cheaply cut block. Other ND teams beat Navy, with all the same shit going on...

I felt like the D-line let the team down today...they gotta be able to play on Navy's side of the LOS, and manhandle people. Did not happen.

This team's ability to breathe life back into opponents, just when it is time to seize momentum is Epic.

Head scratcher why Bilal did not see the field today. Guess the choaches figured he is to fast to stop the option.

Head scratcher why the coaches played Coleman at corner again, after benching him for weeks...I know the corners were getting eaten alive; missed tackles, not getting off blocks, etc......but playing Coleman?!

Keith Arnold summed up Coleman's one standout play nicely:

Perfect break for a pick-6, but just bodies up the receiver for no reason instead.
