I thought the CB's were the best thing about yesterdays game. Gray was everywhere he supposed to be, and made every tackle that came his way. I was very happy with the secondary as a whole.

1. Gary Gray was a beast.

2. Carlo was stout in the run game. He was in on so many tackles. I was really impressed with him.

3. Ruffin.

4. Bennett Jackson was incredible! I said the same as you GoIrish...he was the new Mike Anello.

5. Cierre Wood...game changer. He was phenomenal. Wish he got more carries.

6. Coaching - guys knowing what they're doing, especially defensively.

Darrin Walls still makes me nervous in coverage.

Dayne managed the game, he didnt try and do a lot. (I still maintain he will have to do more to beat Michigan)

They were aggresive, strong, and well conditioned

Kyle Rudolph is Dayne's security blanket.

Reps (after I spread it around a bit more...). This was exactly my take away.

Chuck Martin is my favorite coach on the team. When we stopped them in the 4th quarter, he threw his headset ten feet and did a giant fist pump. He's exactly the type of defensive coach we've needed for years.

- Armando Allen had a great game, I saw a spark in him that I've never seen (although Wood will be on his back all year).
- The quickness of Bennett Jackson on special teams was amazing.
- Coach Kelly and his staff doing their job: coaching. Rudolph missed a block and Kelly went right to him after the play. After Ian Williams got the interception how Bob Diaco was stoked on the sideliines.

for me the biggest positive is coaching. it's clear that the boys actually know their respective responsibilities.

once they get even more comfortable with that, their athletism will get to shine thru as well. i like seeing their confidence.

the offense wasn't as predictable. granted weis put up some big numbers, but as the season went on and late in games the plays became predictable. hopefully BK's offense doesn't suffer the same fate. but i like the play selection and was very surprised at the run.

defense had a lot of energy. loved it. and they were very disciplined as well.

Bennett Jackson!!!! I LOVE a killer gunner and would always key in on Anello in years past. I don't know if Anello ever made FOUR tackles in a game like BJ! Kelly perked up last week talking about how Jackson flies down the field and then finds the perfect place for him to contribute and get some experience.

I don't remember the last time I saw so many Irish in the opponents back field. Immobile QBs better pack some extra pads this year!

Offense did what was needed and established the run. We moved the chains more consistently rather than relying on forty yard go routes all day to move the ball.

PACE OF THE GAME!!!! So much more fun to watch with shorter commercials and a hurry up offense to make you hesitant to even run to the fridge.

Mayock did OK but I could swear I caught at least three instances of calling OUR players by he wrong name. I thought ignorance was Mrs. Doubtfire's job?

I thought Mayock (outside of mixing up a few names) did a great job. I thought his analysis was very strong and insightful. If we can't have a homer in the booth I'm glad we have someone like him. Of course I was very pleased with the defensive play as a whole and was very pleasantly surprised at the run game. I'm looking forward to a few more years of Cierre Wood. Really I thought there were to many positives to mention. I think once the playbook is opened up and Dayne becomes more comfortable this team is going to be tough to contend with.

I think the biggest positive is how the game itself played out.

Let me explain. By holding onto the win after the three setbacks (Floyd’s fumble, the safety, Mavre’s TD run), it teaches the players to dig deep and work even harder to close out the game. If we had blown out Purdue, the players probably don’t learn this lesson. The two interceptions gives the defense confidence that they can do it again in the future. Finally, winning using a simple game plan with no trick plays sends a message that we can win if we focus on fundamentals.

Another positive is how the Michigan game played out. Robinson’s performance should be a wake-up call to the defense to stick to their assigments and make tackles.

Coaching.

Two penaltys.

Two armed wrapups when taking someone down.

One thing that impressed me being at the game was the speed they moved the ball down the field on offence. They had a hard time in the red zone but if they can figure that out they will be able to score in a hurry.

Defence.
Running game .
We won the special teams battle hands down.
Freshman play.
