Amazing how people get upset when a policeman shoots an unarmed person, but not in this case.

There are a ton of hypocrites on both sides of this issue. Lots of people who normally think cops are racist killers and should be defunded suddenly screaming for medals of honor for capital police. On the other side you got people who routinely stand up for police officers and defend them for questionable decisions, but in this case, this guy should be held to account.

I was playing devil's advocate, but you hit the nail on the head. Everyone wants to have their cake and eat it to.

Johnathan Turley wrote a really interesting piece on it. He seems to think that the DOJ did a poor job establishing that the officer did nothing wrong.

I think he said based on what DOJ provided, last summer and January police could have mowed down hundreds of people without facing any liability.

I'm not really comfortably crucifying the cop. You play stupid games, don't be surprised when you win stupid prizes. But making him into some kind of hero seems pretty flawed.

Turley is an awesome follow on Twitter. He just tells it like it is from a legal standpoint. Yes he leans conservative, but he has no problem stepping on conservative toes. He doesn't follow a narrative.

Just another political note and this may explain a disconnect with the posters here.

The last time I voted for a divorced person was in 2012. Since then I never have, to my knowledge information and belief.
It gets challenging to figure it out when you get down to municipal offices and minor judgeships.

But that's my value choice. If they bailed on one vow, they're likely to bail on another.

And that is EXTREMELY CATHOLIC. You're Welcome!

Not that divorced people shouldn't swim in public swimming pools or be prohibited from public libraries, but I just won't vote for them..

Going out on a limb here, but if you're threatening telecom companies after a subpoena, chances are you have something you want to hide.

Maybe I'm wrong.

IMO, it really doesn't matter much since neither side is desirable. The US is in need of a major financial overhaul and neither side has the balls to do it.

I am not one of those financial Armageddon types, but I will say that there are some serious issues that will severely test our resolve and we need real leaders in Washington and that is rare in DC these days.

No, we need citizens who are not sheep, and speak up and act.

The Losers are the sheeple who sit around wringing their hands, tweeting anger hate and fear, waiting to be told what to think from tv radio and print.

We need more John Galts in this country.

We need more Alexanders the Great.

Give me a sword, I have some knots to cut, while the sheeple fumble at the knot.

Killing your political enemies ain't it. Having more "Alexander the Great's" would be terrible for the world.

my admiration for Alexander the Great is SOLELY RESTRICTED to his having the searing insight to cut the knot, not a thing more.

America's biggest non Covid crisis is what I call "the binary lie" that it is all left/right, Republican Democrat.

this is manufactured by many media pundits, on all 360 degrees of the spectrum.

I did some research on the Senate when Eisenhower was Prez.

It was astounding that a large number had served in the Military, many in WWII or Korea.

They had a loyalty to country, and the whole population, and that was primary, with party loyalty second.

Of course that was 60 long years ago.

I don't endorse anybody for all they do. If I misled people, then I apologize to you and to them, and that's from the heart.

The problems in America today with this SCHISM, is the death of thought. And insight.

So, is Powell right or wrong?

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/27/powe...elsewhere.html

In local news, some of the more scurrilous local businessmen have raised prices in a way that is NOT COMMENSURATE with any increaase in their cost of supplies or inventory.

Inflation profiteering. It's hidden in plain sight.

Uncertainty and instability of pricing requires higher prices to compensate for added risks. Pay your employees more to do the same work and you either raise prices or go broke. Your rent doesn't get cut in half if you are operating at half capacity - need to raise prices to break even. Every person I talk to involved in production of any type of real goods has supply chain issues and paying more for those in demand goods. From hamburgers to widgets COGS is up - I have a hard time imagining any industry where that is not currently the case.

These charts mean producers will profit - which is necessary for them to increase production, which takes time and capital investment. "Transitory" and they don't invest. Government hating business and obsessed with green new deals - definitely not making that investment in the woke developed world.

I think Powell is catching up to the reality of real inflation sticking around for a while after trying to wish transitory in to existence. We have not seen widespread inflation for 50 years so I don't expect anyone to respect it when it shows up. We also have not seen a weak dollar for over a decade.

.

No, Inflation was extremely strong in the early 8o's robust throughout the whole decade and did not truly abate until the long bond went below 6 in the mid 90s..... was embroiled in it, in a job whee some people made a lot of money from inflation.l.

.Strong words sthere "Powell trying to wish transitory into existence."

On this view, I am long Powell and short , well Powellskeptics......

Of course, inflation data matter, so here are the facts:...

https://www.inflation.eu/en/inflati...ic-inflation/cpi-inflation-united-states.aspx
istoric inflation United States - CPI inflation
united_states_of_america.jpg
Historic inflation United States (CPI) - This page features an overview of the historic American inflation: CPI United States. The inflation rate is based upon the consumer price index (CPI). Two overviews are being presented:
  • the annual inflation by year for United States - comparing the december CPI to the december CPI of the year before and
  • the average inflation by year for United States - the average of 12 monthly inflation rates of a calendar year
In case you click on CPI United States plus year in the inflation table, you will be directed to a page showing the historic inflation rates of that specific year in United States. Using the tabs you can switch between the historic CPI inflation overview and the historic HICP inflation overview. When you are interested in the current inflation in United States (CPI), click here. In case you are interested in an overview of the current inflation by country (CPI), click here.
Chart – historic CPI inflation United States (yearly basis) – full term

infl-chart-3-1-4.jpg
Table – historic inflation United States (CPI) – by year

But i wanted to provide the facts, lest someone "try to with the transitory out of existence, or, alternatively, wish their own fantasies into existence." as we used to say back on the block.........................

We need another Ronald Reagan.
.

Couldn't agree MOre!

We ABSOLUTELY need another Iran Contra dealy bop.

And we NEED a Reagan to do a two and a half bagger on the federal deficit.

MORE DEFICIT!!

"Reagan took the deficit from $70 billion to $175 billion.
Bush 41 took it to $300 billion.
Clinton got it to zero.
Bush 43 took it from zero to $1.2 trillion.
Obama halved it to $600 billion.
The 45th "corrected" that and got it back over a TRILLION!...

I applaud you Sea turtle, for going on the way back machine and bringing us back to iran/Contra, a 250% bump in the deficity and AMNESTY!!!!

Let me know how those three prongs work for you as you rally support for the next REAGAN..

Comparing presidents on debt is fucking dumb.

Reagan had a goal of bringing about the collapse of the Soviet Union. Whether he was the reason for that or not, mission accomplished. Spent them into oblivion.

Btw...Obama didn't half the deficit...his Congress did.

A Domer friend sent this-how ought I respond?

Reflections and opinions post “Brothers”
Some were new data points and musings, some merely intensified preexisting, but honest, judgements and observations.

DISCLAIMER: there is an apocryphal story about a football coach who had a long contract and middling success. When asked about his biggest challenge he said that it was to keep the alumni who wanted to fire him from getting to know the alumni who wanted to assassinate
Him. So too, with presidents..

We all play the “If I were President game,” even if silently, in our Walter Mitty moments. Voila! I have made myself, first president, and then, second, corrector of America’s most grievous, expensive and deadly error, and third, a wistful political/revolutionary/romantic.

“Abandon Hope all ye who enter here.”
Me as President.

First, on the podium I would take the Bible and lightly, playfully bop Roberts over the head with it and say “No Homey!” I ain’t doing it.
Who said? The Son of Man:

Matthew 5:33-37

No book, John Roberts, my “Yea is my Yea, My nay is my nay”
“Habla constitution, John? Show me your pocket version which says I can’t swear in this way. (tick tock, tick tock) thought so, and I accept both your apology and your resignation..
What about the Evangelicals, the Catholics? Won’t they be upset.

Well they are all free to take a flying leap at a rolling moon.
Christ controls not YOUR. degradation, manipulation and blasphemy>
I’m done accomodating, hemaphroditic transvestite Christians all broods of vipers..

First to the Cabinet, court and seconds in command.

No graduates or attendees of Ivy League schools. NOPE not one. Enough, already. (I will revisit this a few weeks from now-in which the 1619 project will be criticized as right church, wrong pew, for the more virulent original sins were more against women than blacks.) When I moved from race to sex, I disclaimed that there were some very inconvenient truths about the origins of male toxicity, stay tuned.
As further evidence, and this spills over to something below, just do your own due diligence of Tim Russert’s interviews with both George Bush and John Kerry. Russert probed about “Skull and bones” a Yale “society” which is to academe what Isis is to Islam. Both knuckleheads, one the donkey, one the elephant, deferred to the “high oath” of secrecy of Skull and Bones. Omerta, in a WASP disguise. They should have brought out the vaudevillian hook, carted them off, preempted the conventions and found two new candiates, loyal to America not some stupid boy’s club.
And to complete your diligence, both watch the movie “the Skulls” and think about how many high ranking spooks come from Skull and Bones.

Second, if an applicant for any post is a “religious person” I will interview them directly. I exclude Zorastrians, atheists, agnostics, and definitely Mormons. Having grappled with the Angel Moroni, Nephi and Laman, well, damn! I don’t like blasphemy, but I am fairly certain that “I ain’t in the favor of any decaffeinated Lord.” They can serve, I am not going into that rabbit hole of due diligence on Moroni, Laman and Nephi.
Of course if any atheist comes in and says “thank God you agreed to interview me.....” Give ‘em the hook!

I am highly conversant with Christ’s Gospels, the Gita, (less so with Vedas and Upanishads) and certain of the Buddhist teachings, but highly comfortable with the Sacred Q’uran.

I could tell in 3 minutes that Phil Jackson is a completely phony Buddhist. Of course he fooled the LA media, whose definition of a tough interview was V Stiviano, Donald Sterling’s ex girlfriend.

But if they are flying the flag of Christ, Allah/Muhammad or Krishna, I will put them through my own diligence. Simply, if you make your deity your bitch, I can’t trust your service to 330 mil Americans.

And no divorced people. Nope. Monogamous gays YES (Ok, I see you winking, Pope Francis). You made a vow for life. You broke it. Next candidate please.

Mohammed Mossadegh was duly elected. He was a desert/oasis populist. He was Muslim, but secularized. One of his key initiatives, which guaranteed his election was to keep Iranian oil for Iranians rather than allow the unctuous Brits to steal Iran’s most preciiousl natural resource.

An author, administrator, lawyer and prominent parliamentarian, his administration introduced a range of social and political measures such as social security, land reforms and higher taxes including the introduction of taxation of the rent on land. His government's most significant policy, however, was the nationalization of the Iranian oil industry, which had been built by the British on Persian lands since 1913 through the Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC/AIOC), later known as British Petroleum (BP).[SUP][6][/SUP]

His government's most significant policy, however, was the nationalization of the Iranian oil industry, which had been built by the British on Persian lands since 1913 through the Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC/AIOC), later known as British Petroleum (BP).[SUP][6][/SUP]

I'm a bit worried for the above poster. But maybe that's just an old age thing. He's old enough to have been in Vietnam so I suppose the fact he was able to find IE at all and make an account is pretty impressive.

I would say it's Circa, but he hasn't been posting a bunch of confusing .gifs so maybe they're brothers?

Sooo

IVY League one thing, BroodofViperism another, but when you mix them it’s like putting potassium into water in High School Chemistry.

5million people have security clearances. Didn’t know that, did you?
That’s the size of the population of Alabama. Why not just give them all security clearances and freeze out the rest of the country?.
.Enough already. State secrets, whispered communications. Enough

Here I will propose
Then LISTEN
Then gather data
Then review and analyze.Then decide.

But we’re America, right. Let’s take an extreme case. Former US payrollee is hiding in Abbotabad, Pakistan. We put that information up on a website. We know where you are Osama, and we’re about to launch a cruise missile up your ass. So he gets on a camel and rides out of town. A 6’6” Arab with a dialysis machine on a camel? Clouseau could. find him.

The reduction to the absurd is the Dulleses. Clandestine, secret, whispered, unaccountable. Bbbbuuuutttttt there is congressional oversight. From Whom? Lindsay Graham?, Ratcliffe? Adam Schiff, Rand Paul, Jackie Speier, Elise Stefanik, .Devin Nunes? Devin Nunes cow?.Rudy Giuliani? Sebastian Gorka?

We’re going to overcompensate, overcorrect. May not work, we may have to pull back. But this crap went south with ONI, the CIA and the Dulleses. Did I mention to you that they were Ivy League Grads and hemaphroditic Christians?.

So, no phony religious zealots
No Ivy Leaguers
No secrets, no spooks with clearances..

And now to our WORST, most expensive, most deadly foreign policy error ever.

Persia.

Persia is elegant, intelligent, exotic. I prefer that name to Iran.
The natives call it Iran, but Persia, for America, connotes the elegenace of an advanced civilization./
