New electoral-vote.com map.

Govenor Romney has made great strides to get electoral votes, but still has a huge problem: Ohio. Ohio has been consistently blue throughout this campaign and no Republican has ever won the Presidency without Ohio. The three closest toss-up states are Florida, New Hampshire, and Virginia.

I'll admit when I'm wrong. The republicans had it right when they talked about voter fraud.

GOP registration worker charged with voter fraud - NBC Politics

Amazing!!! This story came from NBC....I am sure they will have a story to counter balance this one on the fraud the Dems are perpertrating on college campuses with multiple registrations(yet when they wanted to register as a Republican they were not allowed) and the team Obama member who went down to the high school in Florida and misrepresented who they were to register 18 year old voters as Democrats. Oh and by the way, this person ala Hillary and the many others was thrown under the bus and fired. They stated this person acted on their own...OK.

I haven't heard any of the things you just talked about. Do you have links? Also, how could you possibly know if this person acted on his own? Do you know him or something?

Putting party affiliation aside in the debate over voter ID I heard an amazing and scary statistic. There are currently 20 million people in America who can vote illegally. With well funded terrorist organization it struck me how scary that number is and with money could our election truly be bought or controlled by one of those organizations. I recently heard a story out here in Cali that as a joke someone filled out a voter registration form for his dog. He made it as blatantly obvious that was a joke and sure enough his dog is now a registered voter in the state and just received his absentee ballot. Pretty scary!!! I believe that we need the voter ID law for National Security and not for any other reason.

One thing I am certain of, both Repbulicans and Democrats participate in voter fraud. The win at all cost mentality basically guarantees it. All the more reason why we need voter ID laws.

Oliver Stone? Is that you? :)

I hear Romney is up 3 points with the canine voters this year. :) Seriously, if that happened that should be dealt with. Possibly, the guy should be presecuted for fraud. However, because one guy did something stupid is no reason to disenfranchise millions of voters. If this is still an issue after Nov. 6, I'm all for voter IDs. The issue during this election is that GOP controlled state houses across the country were trying to ram these laws through right before the election. You have to admit that is a bit suspicious.

So you don't mind fraud in our Presidential election, but your condo association vote in six months needs to be legit.

Of course I don't want voter fraud. It is just curious this wasn't a big issue until the election year when Obama is up for re-election. I think a compelling argument could be made that it is part of the plan for the GOP who said that "ensuring Barack Obama is a one-term president" was the number one priority. So, like I said, if this is still a big deal on November 7, I'd support it. You aren't seriously suggesting that we should change voting laws 2 weeks before the election, are you? Millions of people have already voted across the country. You don't think that would raise any eyebrows?

Which states are trying to pass voter id laws right before the election?

Ohio for one. After the republlican primary and before the presidential elections, they enacted several new voter laws and reduced early voting hours. The Dems fought this in court and the judge ruled that the state had to extend the hours to last year's levels. The GOP Secretary of State filed an appeal to that this week.

But actually, my response was answering the question of whether my wanting voter fraud was more important to me than votes in a condo association. It sounded to me as if the questioner was suggesting these laws should be changed immediately.

Do you really think it's not been a big issue till now? Why ? Is it your excuse in waiting?

as I said in a previous post ... look at ohio. They implemented their laws after the Republican primaries but before the presidential election. that timing is a bit questionable, don't you think. Why not in 2009, or 2010? Why in this questionalble window of time. They said that they wanted to deny Obama a second term in office, that it was their number one priority. You don't think it is plausible that the voter fraud talk is connected to that stated goal?

This has been discussed ad nauseum already. Voter fraud occurs a whopping 0% of the time. Statistically is non existent the last 10 years. Election fraud is another story and the RNC has some explaining to do.

In case anyone doesn't already use it, this is the best site for election updates: Election Forecasts - FiveThirtyEight Blog - NYTimes.com

Really interesting stuff. Nate Silver is a pretty smart guy (who made the baseball stat PECOTA) and in 2008 and 2010 his predictions were extremely accurate. He uses a really interesting method that weighs polls, includes the usual leanings of states, and his blog has some good information as well. Because of his system he doesn't seem to have any biases at all. The only problem is that he will probably take any excitement away from November 6th because the projections on November 5th will spoil the results.

Pollsters get hired for accuracy so the idea that they would "skew" polls seems pretty ridiculous. I tend to use RealClearPolitics but Nate Silver knows his stuff.
