This is ridiculous! A 22-year-old in Michigan's UP ran over an 80-year-old man yesterday with an ATV while the man was putting up a Trump sign in his own yard. The elderly man is hospitalized in critical condition. The assailant is suspected in two other politically motivated incidents. Afterwards, he called police to come get him, but when they arrived he'd committed suicide. This BS needs to stop from any and all sides. I can't imagine getting upset enough at someone for supporting a candidate, no matter how much I disliked that candidate and their views, to run over someone or try to kill them, let alone an 80-year-old in his own yard.

Political violence has been ever present and pretty consistent throughout American history.

Seems like that would indicate some sort of fundamental flaw in the way we choose to organize and approach creating a peaceful and civil society.

Would be nice to show trends on that average income chart. The migration would imply average incomes have increases a lot over the last few years in FL/SC/Idaho while it might have decreased in CA/NY/IL. Delta is the relevant data point, not current average.

How terrible is it to call the data "average median household income"? Is it an average or a median? Median for tech billionaire CA is more relevant than average. Also household can be screwy as household formation sucks right now. Generalizing a whole state sucks - big difference making $67k in Chicago versus Carbondale. Main problem is median versus average though.

Seems the states with the highest avg income are also the ones where the COL is the highest.

Go ahead, that isn't the point. The point is propping up the rate stats of high income migration is hilariously misleading.
It in and of itself is not a meaningful statistic, but chosing a snapshot of household income in a given year without showing the rate of change in household income does not disprove the significance of the trend.

The migration could be for a variety of reasons. My guess is that the biggest issue is cost of living. With significant increases in jobs that are allowed to work remotely, it would make perfect sense for people who have historically worked in high cost of living states to move to lower cost of living states and work remotely.

The cognitive dissonance is real. A rate stat set at a threshold of $200K that is susceptible to large variances for a given year (hmmm a given year....) is enough to show a "trend".

Those wanting to do that better hurry and find that job. The trend is starting to shift back to the office. From Zip Recruiter....43% of companies have set tighter limits around remote work or mandated some form of return-to-office over the past year.

A little levity in contrast to our usual political bickering.

A woman went into a bridal store and said she was getting married for the fourth time and wanted a wedding gown. The saleswoman asked her what style of dress she was looking for and the woman replied that she wanted a long, flowing, white lace dress with a veil. The saleswoman told her that that sort of wedding gown was more common for innocent brides, not those married several times before.

The woman replied that she was as pure and innocent as any bride ever. When the saleswoman asked how that was possible if she'd been married three times before, the woman explained that her first husband had gotten so stressed out from the wedding that he had a fatal heart attack just after the service before they'd even reached their hotel. She and her second husband had gotten into a huge argument in the limo shortly after leaving the church and had their marriage annulled.

"But what about your third marriage?" asked the saleswoman.

"Well," the woman replied, "he was a Democrat and all he did was sit on the side of the bed every night for four years and tell me how great things were going to be."

Frankly, I wish more billionaire assholes would leave California. The super rich have ruined basically every cool town (Santa Cruz, Venice, Cayucous and on and on) in the State.
Relocate Silicon Valley to some place like Evansville, Indiana. Instant upgrade for everyone.

Maybe. Most of them would probably still own a beach home, home in Tahoe and a home in wine country in California that sit empty most of the year.

When I was working in high end construction I worked on three residences in two years that were purchased and remodeled expressly so the owner’s friends had a place to stay when they all vacationed together.

The amount of money that gets casually thrown around on inane shit in the Bay Area is mind boggling.

25 school board candidates backed by Ron DeSantis ran in Florida on Tuesday's ballot.

Only 6 won.
