Explain for me, meaningless to who?

I just provided an example to you of who it is meaningless to.... Georgia had numerous starters sit out last years Sugar Bowl to concentrate on the NFL draft, because they deemed the game meaningless.
Look man i'm not looking for a fight....you are free to think what you want.

I follow Notre Dame to watch them compete for National Titles, I am 28 years old and have never seen one. Therefore, I would much rather watch them get beat by 28 points vs Bama at least trying in two weeks, then play Oklahoma in what I regard as a meaningless bowl game.

Just my two cents, and I almost guarantee the players on the team feel the same way.

Yeah, scored a TD every drive. UF picked off Jones and then fumbled it back to them on the return.

Bamas wide receivers are more physical than most of ND’s secondary. Lol.

Jebus. Bama is going to crush every team they play in the playoffs.

I dont agree. Clemson takes them again this year. Not so impressed by this Bama team as in years past.

That is an average FL team. LSU proved that.

Bama will smash us, but you have to continually play the top teams to eventually beat them.
A lucky win against Clemson leads to a belief in the locker room. Believing is half the battle.
Keep cranking out the ten win seasons and making the playoffs.
Eventually we will get the difference maker that will put us over the top like Watson. Watson led to Lawerence.

I thought Reverend Dabo led to Lawrence.

Lawrence is throwing to Amari Rogers and a few other 5 stars. ND's 3 star QB they stole from Wazzu is throwing to a 5th year grad student from Northwestern and a 5th year senior who had one catch today and won't sniff the draft.

See the difference?

Grew up a Vols fan. If the weren’t such a train wreck he may have ended up there.

Not sure it matters who he's a fan of. He didn't end up there anyway. He went to the "hot" program of the year.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make is Clemson was exactly where we are now until they finally landed the kid that put them over the top. It took an all-time performance to beat Bama and it led to a flood of five stars, including Lawerence who has taken them to even higher levels. If Watson didn't win, Clemson is Oklahoma.. or us.

I think it was the bag man that helped Clemson make the leap. ND is basically Clemson pre stacks of cash.

Clemson was always a punching bag pre Dabo. They lost to S Carolina every year. Nothing special.

Think USC with Carroll. The team was a juggernaut. Carroll left and the team flirts with good but overall very average. Just like Clemson will be when Dabo leaves.

I agree. I really think if you flipped QBs, we win that game. Not a slight on Book because I love the kid. Lawrence is just phenomenal and it’s the most important position in all of team sports.

So back to the playoff discussion. If ND isn't #4 who is? There isn't a good answer, so we're in. Unfortunate to back in, but you can't say TAMU or Cincy or Oklahoma or even Florida with a win. The whole season matters.

And Tua leaves Alabama and they don't even bat an eye and put Mac Jones in.

There's no excuse for ND not to have great qbs starting every year. We have these Smurfs and meanwhile, USC has a Slovis every year

Florida is about to score and make it a 4 point game. If Florida comes close to beating Bama, that may make A&M’ win look better and push them in.

Yeah, unfortunately Kelly likes to look his QBs in the eye. It’s why he drove Phil out.

So A&M is rewarded for not playing in a conference championship game? They beat 3 loss Florida. We beat Clemson. They get smoked by Bama. We gear smoked by Clemson. I still don't see it.

Kinda funny hearing that argument from an ND fan. That’s all I hear in most years here in SEC country about us not playing in a CCG. Who knows? I’m not saying they deserve it but if we get left out I’m assuming they’d be in.

Weird year, weird arguments.

Ohio St played 6 games. Eye test and all that. They didn't play a single team that is top 10 caliber yet everyone just assumes they are good. Hard to know really.

We split with the team that beat us. TLaw getting COVID and the other injuries are Clemsons problems not ours.

TAMU getting in would solidify us just staying independent.

And another thing. Their best, most explosive player gets lost for the season and their like 'fuck you, we're dropping 60 on everyone without him'.

The disparity between them, Clemson and OSU and us is just ridiculous.

Seems like crazy gymnastics, considering that Florida just last week lost to a terrible LSU team.

What this Florida game is proving is that with elite offensive talent you can compete with anyone. You've always got a chance. The problem with ND is that they don't have that, so they can't win these shootouts.

Don’t disagree but I bet it gets brought up again that they canceled ours and Clemson’s games last week while Florida had to play. If they didn’t play last week, would A&M be in? This is the crazy crap you get in this sport.

How are we completely unable to either recruit or bring in transfers of elite QBs?

It's so frustrating.

I don't necessarily disagree. But when Bama got humiliated by Clemson or whenever it was a few years back their philosophy changed. Where before they would smother you with defence and run the ball up your ass all game they've now sold out on offence to keep up. Defence be damned we'll play decent enough to win but now we'll drop dimes all over the place if needed.
