As a Purdue student that wore ND gear to class today you can guess I got an earful of $hit from everyone. I was mainly asked two questions:

1. If ND can barely squeak by teams like Pitt and Purdue (the students here hate the football program this year because we suck), what makes you think that you can hang with any team like Oregon or Bama?

I didn't quite know what to say about this. My explanation was that we had jet-lag so we didn't play so well against Purdue. Everyone jumped on my case immediately and said "Typical ND fan, always making excuses" "What do you expect, he's a ND fan, of course he has excuses"... I just countered with ND has the toughest schedule of the top few teams and we don't play any $hitty FCS schools like Bama, LSU, etc. AND we are STILL the only qualified team that is undefeated, even with our schedule.

2. What makes you think you can actually beat Bama?
I was laughed at and mocked when I said I honestly thought we could beat Bama. Well, we weren't supposed to be able to hang with that tough MSU team, weren't supposed to be able to keep up with the speed of that lightning quick Miami team, Stanford is just too tough for us, Oklohoma is just too good of a team. No on gave us a chance all year, yet we wound up at this point undefeated.

So they say "Bama is a whole different animal, they are way too tough for ND".

One of the people I was talking to at this point is on the Purdue team and he is just amazed with our front 7. That led me into my point of how we have one of the best, if not the best, defenses in the country. And if our offense plays to it's potential, we can play with anyone in the country.

A LOT of hate for ND here at Purdue. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though. Just the typical hate and misconceptions about our team this year that I see and hear all around. It's just a matter of perspective. No one outside the program gave us a chance all year, why should that change now.

"But TA&M is in the SEC now and the SEC is way tougher than any BIG 10 team ND faced. The SEC is way too tough to go undefeated"

Yea, someone said that.

The answer to that is that it is the college's own fault for staying there then. If ND gets no excuses for being independent and the consequences of that, the same is true of SEC schools getting no excuses.

Persnally I think the SEC schools DO have a LOT of elite talent (mainly because of 2 things...winning bring in more talent and their recruiting of kids that couldn't get in many other places/over signing/lack of educationg their players-graduation rate). However, I honestly don't think they are as scary good right now as the have been in recent history.

Just keep repeating, "We're 11-0".

Blah, blah, blah: "We're 11-0".

BUT BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH: "We're 11-0"......

Eventually, your fact will wear down their emotion. And it doesn't take much to calmly say, "We're 11-0".

I can't wait to go to work in the morning. The folks that have been rooting against me have to be dreading tomorrow.

Between GA Tech, FSU and Clemson the SEC should have one or two more losses to their top tier teams to open space for the non-SEC top tier to move up and kill the SOS interleague.

I've seen enough of the SEC to believe they are mainly mediocre offensive teams that make the defenses look good. Very beatable across the board and not deserving of deity status.

Regarding the Purdue game, the Boilermakers have a very good DL. They stuffed our running game (52 yards total, at 1.4 YPC), which isn't easy to do; ND's rushing attack was rated 13th nationally before Saturday's game against WF, so give them credit there. That put the offense on the arm of our RS Freshman QB in his first home start, which predictably did not result in consistent offensive output.

Regarding Pitt, ND was coming off an emotional win over OU (see 'Bama v. aTm after LSU), we turned the ball over 3 times, Pitt played close to a perfect game, and a bunch of our starters were sick with the flu.

Regarding our chances against 'Bama, most of the advanced stats indicate that we'd be competitive with them. Always use objective statistics to bolster your arguments; everything else is just hand-waving.

You can also mention that we're playing with a redshirt frosh QB. It took some time for him to get into the groove. Now that he has a bunch of experience under his belt our offense is much better and more polished.

Not to mention, we're 11-0.

The explanation on why games like BYU and Pitt happened is pretty easy to make.

First off, you have to recognize that Pitt, Purdue, and BYU are proud programs. They do have good athletes. Anybody that has played sports can tell you that you have good days and bad days. We can easily make the argument that both teams probably played the best game of their season against us.

This argument can go the other way around. We certainly didn't play our top game against these teams. Then again, the traits of a true champion is even when things are not going your way on a particular day or moment, you stick your nose in there and find a way to be victorious. We did that.

We beat teams that was supposed to spank us according to the rest of the world and on the road that is.

Our defense has been just as spectacular as the Oregon offense throughout the year. It's cliché, but so true:
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.

I said enough.

As a Purdue Student that frequently wears ND stuff on campus.

Most of the time, I don't get any **** from Purdue people.

But when I do, I just respond with "Danny Hope" and walk away.
