Penn State wore their throwback uniforms on Saturday, to honor the 1881 team.

No one noticed, because they are still wearing the same unis.

I agree. I love the Penn State unis. But the Buckeyes wearing their throwbacks got me to thinking......if Penn State wore throwbacks, how would anyone know? I don't think their unis have changed in about 100 years.

I never cared for the Penn State uniforms. Boring, especially the away whites. White, white, white, yuck.

It's been scientifically proven that white helmets are equal to gold helmets in awesomeness, if not greater.

1. Oregon
2. Oregon
3. Oregon
4. Oregon
5. Oregon

This list goes on and on for all of their different combinations of uniforms, like 200 some... so they are numbers 1 through 200 some on the worst uniform list

Thought there was a JoePa joke coming for sure. Like, "because JoePa missed the old jerseys."

ND needs a coach with the character and reputation of JoePa.

For sure, ND and Penn State have been the leaders in college football setting academic standards for their players.

ND's problem has been the revolving door of coaches. Not good.

The best coaches in the country come from schools not known for athletic greatness. Belichick (Patriots), Wesleyan, Murphy (Harvard) Springfield, are just two that come to mind.

Let's focus on the genuine goals of education and athletic purity when selecting our next coach. If we do, the Knute era will return!

Who has the reputation of JoePa??? That's a reputation built on decades of ecellence. Who in the world can we possibly hire that has his rep? Knute himself?

And for your information, JoePa isn't the saint he's made out to be. He sold his soul to the devil about 7 years ago, when Penn State's football team was in the dumps and he instructed his assistants to start going after the best athletes, regardless of character. The results? His football team has returned to national prominence, and they have had more arrests at Penn State in the last 7 years vs. any other program in the nation, even more than Florida. Here's a little blurb from ESPN:

Since 2002, 46 Penn State football players have faced 163 criminal charges, according to an ESPN analysis of Pennsylvania court records and reports. Twenty-seven players have been convicted of or have pleaded guilty to a combined 45 counts.

I lump JoePa with Urban Liar and Nick Satan. Would do anything to win, univeraity ethics be damned...

Paterno is just a glorified mascot at this point. I can't stand him and people who stick up for him. Most of the time their argument is that "he's old!" Give me a break. I root for Bowden and F$U to win so Paterno doesn't end up on top of the all-time wins list. He beat Temple, Eastern Illinois, Indiana, Toledo.

Don't think Paterno gave the marching orders you stated. You sound like a bias ND supporter and a jealous PSU hater. For sure PSU has their problems but to his credit, Paterno did not hide them and disciplined the athletes. Nothing was worse for ND when Holtz led the program. Remember the fake punt agains Navy? (up 40 points with under 2 minutes...first down...next play, pass to end zone for TD, and drunk students chanting...go for 2 go for 2) Pretty embarassing for me as an alumni!

Okay....we need to get a coach that can develop the reputation of Paterno.

You're equating a fake punt and a drunk students with 163 criminal charges and 27 players convicted or pled guilty to 45 counts?

Since 2002, 46 Penn State football players have faced 163 criminal charges, according to an ESPN analysis of Pennsylvania court records and reports. Twenty-seven players have been convicted of or have pleaded guilty to a combined 45 counts.

Let's assume you're correct and LA's mistaken and JoePa did NOT tell his staff to recruit them. Something still stinks badly with the program with that number of charges and that number of convidiction and Joe's name is on that program.

As an alumnus (whether ND or PSU) feel free to comment on how many of the 27 guilty and 19 others charged would likely still be ND students, much less football players, after their infractions?

At ND Res Life handles Student conduct not the football coach. At the minimum the convicted would be suspended from all Student Activiites and quite a few would be invited to spend the next semester at home, wouldn't they? And some would not be allowed to be readmitted.

Unless LA fabricated that ESPN statement on PSU arrests and convictions your "PSU hater" is a off base, isn't it?. As far off base as your reference to drunk students who you know do NOT come under the jurisdiction of the ND football coach who has zero control over the student body.

For sure PSU has their problems but to his credit, Paterno did not hide them and disciplined the athletes.

Three cheers for Coach Paterno for not hiding the Nittany Felons.

Pretty embarassing for me as an alumni (sic)

Even more embarassing for you as you're an alumnus, or at least you claim to be.

You need a lot. Don't worry, I will say a few for you. For sure, you don't sound like an ND alum...or at least any I know.

Well, BGIF pretty much chewed you up and spit you out already before i could. Well done BGIF.

I will say this...facts are facts. I'm not a 'PSU hater', I really have nothing against them b/c I live out here on the west coast, and my 'hatred' is saved for FUSC. Again, the FACT is:

Since 2002, 46 Penn State football players have faced 163 criminal charges, according to an ESPN analysis of Pennsylvania court records and reports. Twenty-seven players have been convicted of or have pleaded guilty to a combined 45 counts.

What is so hard to comprehend about that? I'm not making that up. Go look it up for yourself. Is that what you want from this university, considering your an 'alumni', errrrrr, alumnus? And you're equating Holtz' time with ND with those 163 criminal charges? For real? In Holtz' final 7 years at ND, how many criminal charges were brought up against his players? I'm going to take a wild stab and guess that it was under 163.

YOU said we should hire someone with the reputation of JoePa. Well guess what...we get that, and we're getting some players with some heavy, heavy baggage. Just think, Jimmy Clausen RECEIVED a punch and it made national headlines. What do you think would happen if 46 ND football players had been arrested in 7 years??? I think ESPN's computers might explode from information overload personally.

Finally, as for disciplining his players...ummmm, yeah right. Again, go look it up. He's been veerrrrrrryyyy lenient towards football players who get in trouble with the law. Nothing like what would happen to them at ND...

Alright, Joe Pa may or may not be a grandfatherly mofia don posing as a football coach.

That being said, the point that this school needs to identify a coach who embraces the values that make ND ND (1:commitment to academics 2:hard work 3:respect for tradition 4:commitment to the players and 5:ability to compete with anybody in the nation) and STICK WITH HIM through the highs and the lows is a great one.

I, for one, think CW fits the mold, but what do I know.
