Um...... am I the only person that noticed that he isn't ANYTHING like Armando? If he is like anyone it's Darius Walker - he has good vision and balance but is undersized and doesn't have breakaway speed. Allen has a ton of speed and even better balance... essentially had everything but is lighter (ala R. Bush). They are in no way the same mold of running back.

Getting excessive depth means losing it at another position. Think we should have 10 RBs on scholarship when we can only have 1 or 2 on the field at a time? If USuCk has that many on scholarship then it means they have thin depth at another position. If the staff thought we were thin at RB then they would have pursued more guys and earlier. It took a long time to get them to even offer Gray, who seems to have more power and speed than Knox. Unless Cyrus gray changes his mind, we are probably done with RBs this year.

Armando didn't strike me as having good balance this year, at least not yet. He was always falling or tripping constantly. He has good quickness, but I didn't really see the WOW speed that I should've this year. After watching Knox in the game against ND this year he was a pounder and solid but would add nothing that Hughes/Aldridge and Jonas already do.

Agree completely - I was thinking about how a guy who literally ran into and out of a pile in HS seems to get tripped up so easily... here is my hypothesis. I think we haven't been able to establish the kind of blocking we need to get him to the outside where he will be able to be dangerous. In HS the balance often looked great because he has surprising power and can stay up when people try to tackle him as he goes by. But he doesn't have enough power to get by guys that are in front of him in the middle of the field. In other words he is used to running by people rather than having so many in front of him. If we can get AA some blocking and get him outside, he is going to look phenomenal.

I think AA was adjusting to the game again. In high school he did seem to have good balance and vision, but that year he missed definately hurt him early on. He was rusty, and seemed to be blown over by the wind, you can tell it was a big adjustment for him early. He seemed to adjust around USC week, and I'm sure the extra time in the weight room will help.

Exactly right, IMO ...

Guys,
First, I do not see the speed with Milton. Second, Armando basically went from playing Junior year in high school to college football. He broke his leg in high school so he missed his senior season. I believe Armando looked really good at the end of the season. He has great burst and moves well in traffic. I am not ready to ad another body just for sake of having another. If we did get into total jam, remember that Golden played RB in high school. Tell me he would not give us that speed change of pace guy.

If he has qualifying test scores in by the first weekend in Feb, it looks like Milton will be making an official visit to ND.

wow, this is cutting it close. but if he made the effort to take the test this late, sounds like he is interested. if he were already satisfied with the offer he has, no need to put yourself through the difficulties of extra test taking.

when do the results come out?

This once again jsut shows the grades you need to get into ND. Because trust me on this one, i live in California and UCLA is extremely hard to get into.

He took the test in Dec, but he still doesn't have his results back yet. He said he checks on-line everday hoping that they'll be there, but so far, no luck.

The staff told him that given his 3.1 GPA if he scored an 18 on his ACT then that should be good enough.

An 18 is pretty low....for ND....just hate to see him go to a school that not is right for him but maybe with some extra work he can make it through ND! I wish him the best because he really seems to want to go to ND!

Im sure he'd be fine, athletes have opportunities to have tutors all the time. If he puts in the effort for the education, he will be able to stay on top of it all.

wonder why we are still recruiting another RB with our abundance of talent already at the position...i would rather see us offer another interested Oline recruit, since that would be the most needed postition at the moment in my own opinion.

IF there was any OT talent still available they would be and ND doesn't have a ton of RB's despite what what you may think plus they are all very different and all can be valuable because of that because it gives the team many different looks plus Knox is very good and you down turn down talent when they are interested.

It's either 2 this year and 1 next year or 1 this year and 2 next year.

Most prospects don't come in and play and getting guys in now to play later is important so they are skilled within the system when they get there chance and by the time he's ready to play some of the RB's will no longer be on the roster.

i agree with ricochet. WE may have a lot of RBs but the way ND played this year gettung recruits with good potential at any position is fine with me. Not all highly touted recruits pan out, get as many good players as possible. We may not get another for a while (i doubt that though)

Last I saw on his rivals profile he was down to UCLA, and Florida.

Those things often become outdated quickly. Especially during this time of year. As of right now he is still considering UCLA, Florida, Miami, Colorado, and Notre Dame.

He still has one official visit left and ND will get it if he gets his qualifying ACT scores back in time. If he doesn't then it'll go to either Miami, or Florida.

Milton is very good friends with Dayne and Anthony and from what I've heard Dayne has really been pushing ND to him for some time.

Ron Powlus also stopped by Knox's school yesterday just to check up on him. Powlus will be having lunch with Crist and McDonald today. The only thing that may hurt ND is that he never recieved an in-home visit from ND, but that's just speculation so who knows.

However, as was mentioned above, he does really seem to want to "leave" UCLA, and I think if he gets an offer and if the visit goes well that he'll be Irish come NSD, but that's still several big questions marks at this point. I just hope he gets his test scores back soon so he and ND at least has the opportunity that they both want.

I have also heard that Knox is good friends with Clausen. Heres hoping Milton gets a good score, and ND can offer.

Word is circulating that Milton got his test scores back and he will be visiting. This didn't come from any kind of official source/reporter but rather a poster on another board so I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet but it is something to keep an eye out for.

I know of some people that have some connections within the ND admissions office and they plan to check into it to see if they can find anything out one way or the other, so hopefully we'll know something for sure very soon.

Milton has also recently said that he wants to make up his mind where his trip is going to be by Tues or Wed.
