Path to the CFP?

There is only upside in the playoff and only downside outside of the playoff for ND. If we get matched up vs Bama or UGA the narrative will not change if we lose, but if we win it will move the program forward significantly and we may potentially back our way into a title shot.

Now if we lose to MSU in some NY6 bowl? That’s a bad look because we are supposed to win that.

I really don’t see how you guys wouldn’t want in this playoff when there’s only upside and we’d be playing against teams significantly worse than the playoff teams we’ve played in past years.

THAT'S the problem... the Irish need to change the 'narrative' brother. And this is not the year. The 2012 game was on Kelly. It's a different story now. The Irish NEED Freeman to build up more. And a NY6 would be a better building block than a loss in the CFP. That's just my opinion. I respect yours....

so assuming Michigan beats Iowa I am totally on Bama. The only way this ends is for Bama to get as bored with winning as everyone else is with them winning.

According to the 'committee'.. I wouldn't be surprised if they put Baylor in the 4th spot if MeeChicken loses..... they have no idea

If these scores hold its:
1. Bama
2/3. Michigan/Georgia
4. Cinci

5. ND
6. Ohio State
7. Baylor
8. Ole Miss
9. Michigan State
10. Oklahoma State
11. BYU
12. Utah

Not 100% sure on 6 through 10. But likely this would mean ND vs Michigan State or Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Boring outcome for us, but we should destroy either of those teams. The pressure will be on us to produce as we will be favored.

Yep... I think the Freeman hire will inspire one hell of a win whomever the Irish play in the NY6 game.

Gotta admit, pretty baffling to see UGA do UGA things. Why am I surprised

Same old. On a different note, Georgia has 19 5* kids. I wonder how many years you’d have to go back to get to ND’s last 19. Maybe Weis and Kelly combined have brought in that many.

Does anyone have any idea the criteria for seeding the at larges in the NY6? Does the committee set the pool and the bowls “draft” their choices?

Per 247, ND has had 18 all time (I don’t know how far back it goes but the oldest is LeVoir in 2001).

God I hope Michigan wins.... any of US nutjobs wants the Irish in the mix of the top 4 is crazy.... enthusiasm and hope won't get the Irish through the first game of the playoffs

reality brothers......

Freeman’s first game as head coach versus an Alabama that just spanked Georgia. I’d have to agree with you.

Freeman needs to be all over every elite WR recruit we can find. Field enough of them with a good QB and you can beat anyone, even an elite defense loaded with 5* talent.
