From the President Elect Nikias in a memo to the USC family:
The Trojan Family honors and respects the USC sporting careers of those persons whose actions did not compromise their athletic program or the opportunities of future USC student-athletes. Accordingly, I have instructed the senior vice president for administration to remove athletic jerseys and murals displayed in recognition of O.J. Mayo and Reggie Bush by mid-August--before the incoming class of students moves on campus--from Heritage Hall, the Galen Center, and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The university will also return Mr. Bush's 2005 Heisman Trophy to the Heisman Trophy Trust in August.
Now lets have NBC show some common sense and do the right thing and start over with 2 guys who can give Notre Dame football the spotlight it deserves. If you are going to broadcast the games at least have 2 /3 guys who dont make me turn on the radio to listen to the play by play. Hammond must go. Someone needs to post one of these ideas on a banner at the university or a billboard or something because I repeat these telecasts have morfed into a sham and does not do anything for this fine football program they way they present it. They dont even give enough time to the teams taking the field and the pagentry of the start of the game. I'm damn tired of Hammond, commercials and the same crap before every game. Their story line is always the same Notre Dame mired in a 10 yr slump, Notre Dame trying to right the ship, Notre Dame is not the Notre Dame of your fathers. We understand all this but how about a positve (homer) approach. The nation is not tuning in to see the opponent they are watching because they are Notre Dame fans. How tough can this be?Man this summer is getting better and better.
I respect Pat Haden. I understand that he went to USC, but he is (compared to many at SC) a class individual and is an intelligent person. He is a Rhodes scholar and has been a successful businessman.
That said, I look forward to a change in the NBC broadcasting team. Make that a complete change.
I would like Lindsey Nelson and Paul Hornung, please.
