Why don't they just change the name of the big ten to what the collective Big Ten fan base really is???

What makes you say that?

IMO the Big Ten is usually the 2nd best Football Conference (Behind the SEC) and the best basketball Conference (ACC has fallen a bit the last couple years).

that would be your very biased opinon... and you're entitled to it, step child or not...

I dunno.

ESPN aired a story on Charlie Weis' dinner with Brady Quinn and the captains, alot of people were pissed about that.

And ESPN has discussion on all of Notre Dame's games. When OSU played Bowling Green, there is very little, if anything about their game.

Why do you think they have Holtz? His lisp is embarrasing, and if he wasnt a former Notre Dame coach he wouldnt be there.

And after the MSU vs ND game last year, Brent Musberger went as far as to say "A Game for the Ages". When MSU beat ND two years ago in what was probably a mor thrilling game, nothing like that was said.

Pissed about a story about dinner? Were these same people pissed about the story about the Clemson player taking care of his brother? Or Adrian Peterson's dad coming to his first game since junior high? Is there also a Clemson & Oklahoma bias?

That's because Notre Dame doesn't play MAC schools. OSU should be embarrassed that they played Bowling Green. And what discussions are these? Most of the the discussions are Mark May, Rece Davis, Robert Smith & Chris Fowler bashing the Irish and saying they are terrible.

Really? Attacking Lou's lisp? Did Stuart Scott got to ND? Because he has that lazy eye so he must have gotten his job through ND bias.

MSU beat ND last year you idiot. MSU lost this year. If you can't get the years right, how do you expect me to believe what you claim Musberger said or didn't say.

You are as good at making an argument as your team is at finishing off a game or a season.

The MSU/ND game last year was hardly a game for the ages, because the team that won had blown a huge lead late, had narrowly missed losing on a safety, and pretty much backed in to victory. Michigan State retreated in that game after blowing a huge lead. Had they rallied for a big comeback win in South Bend, or had ND completed the comeback, it would have been a notable game. As it was, it wasn't. It went down as more of a missed opportunity, ND not finishing a comeback.

I agree with AZ.. this was merely an attempt to bring attention to the site and the author of the article. I can respect that because, truthfully, nothing gets more people going than stories on Notre Dame (positive and negative). The only thing I have a problem with is the personal shot at Weis' eating habits...very uncalled for regardless if it is satire.

That was a stupid ass article. And for ESPN to even publish that article is crazy. The Mad Scientist brought up some good points. Yes I'ts might sounds like sour grapes, but that's why the players love him . You think they wasn't think the same thing. So before his player say it and everybody starts bashing and berating them. Charlie say's it. That's a coach who have a feel for his locker room. Damn he's good. That's why he's The Mad Scentist.

Remember when sports used to be fun and there wasn't all this arguing and hating going on all the time?
Remember when the athletes and analysts acted like gentlemen? The worst thing was Todd Christensen secretly rooting for FSU in 1993 game. Dexter Manly getting caught with coke every 6 months or so.
What happened?

The internet happened. It didn't change the behavior, but it sure as hell helped spread the gossip like wildfire.

Sorry, but major college sports became what they are several years before the advent of the internet.

If you read my post, you see that I didn't blame the internet. I guess I should have said that we learn about it more often and much quicker than we used to. Mirertobrooks referenced the 1993 FSU game. I believe the internet was just about to pick up momentum by then. What is several years? The 60's?, 70's? I'm sure we could say that in every day and age there were athletes who (just like non-athletes) weren't law abiding citizens or who would try to cheat to gain an advantage. I was merely pointing out that the internet, with all of the media, blogs, open forums and chat rooms has helped spread the news. And, for some reason, people love to see a train wreck so all of the negative articles spread faster than the feel good stories.

To all the guys saying "Why did I get pissed off about this"...?

I already admitted that I realized it was his intent to get people fired up. But his writing didn't fire people up because it was "On point" and tough to hear.

It was annoying because some Page 2 articles are meant to be serious (but very opinionated) views. And when this one is thrown in there, seemingly diguised as that, it is ridiculous. To insult somebodies' weight? Tell me how it would go over if an ESPN article described Lloyd Carr as having a face "like a piece of rotting garbage."

Would that be acceptable, would UM fans and alumni think that was an OK thing to say, even if it was known that the column was a satire? I doubt it. Criticizing someone for their actions is one thing, making cheap jabs at their looks is just downright disrespectful.

Sparty, if you want me to really disect what was wrong with the article, I can, and will. But most here already could point everything out to you.

Who said this guy is reputable?

Exactly. The Onion and Cracked aint exactly the New York Times or USA Today now is it? Dude is a freakin nobody trying to make a name for himself. Same guy who's next jouranlistic masterpiece is probably a "get on your knees and and pleasure" piece about Troy Smith or Pete Carroll. Eat a full bag of $hit Onion boy.

I make it a policy to stay away from Page 2. On occassion someone will send a link for whatever pitiful article they have on ND. They have said some awful things about Charlie. They offer nothing to college football and what they consider satire is just poor taste. I hate ESPN.

Hey, haters think this is pure literature.

I wipe my backside with anything in print from ESPN. Their magazine is the biggest rag on newsstands.
