I'm going to pull for Florida to win that game, if that is in fact the match up. Oklahoma doesn't deserve to be there, they didn't deserve to play last night. I'm still in awe that a team can beat another on a neutral site by 10 friggin points and the loser gets the advantage??

They claim a playoff would ruin the importance of the regular season, well apparently, the regular season already means nothing if the loser of a head to head match up gets the rewards instead of the winner....it's a head scratcher...

Gotta agree with that. I am scratching my head because I just agreed with a Buckeye guy. I put in another thread that they did not belong there just a minute or two ago. They are good but I think Texas should have been there. Plus I thought margin of victory was not important anymore. I guess if you lose on the last play of the game as opposed to hanging 60 on them then no championship for you. Even if you beat the team in the championship. Go figure.

Frankly they should put Texas vs OU in the BCS. Florida won, but not overly impressively. Alabama has been living on the edge all year and was due for a fall. Had Florida put a stomping on Bama, then I would have said put them in.

What about Teas getting in over Texas Tech then???? Every one crys for Texas but no one can answer that question...

I'm so sick of hearing the playoff cryers... most pro sports "champions" are a joke lately BECAUSE of a playoff... (wildcards CONSTANTLY winning the World Series, teams that CLEARLY were not the best during the entire season getting hot and winning the Super Bowl) I thought the whole point was to crown the best team for that YEAR not who was hottest come playoff time... even Pete Carroll said he was for a playoff b/c the team pllaying the best ball at the end of the season never gets in the title game in his opinon... well GOOD, that team should have shown up during the first two months...

how would a playoff solve the problem??... it would make a bunch of new problems that all other sports suffer from that we are all just more comfortable with b/c we deal with them in every other sport...

Texas Tech got absolutely undressed and beat with a sledge hammer. Thats why Tech is not in the discussion. As for the playoffs, I think if they want a true NC then they are needed. If not go back to the old bowl systems and don't play 1 vs 2 anymore.
The Giants winning the superbowl last year was clearly not a fluke..
Besides if #1 wins all the time, it kind of takes the excitement out of it.

by Oklahoma thank you

the Giants were CLEARLY not the best team for the year 2007 and I am a well known Patriots hater who was very happy when they lost but facts is facts... Chargers at 14-2 deserved better a few years back... saying the steelers were the best team in football the year they won the Super Bowl is much more of a joke than having OU in over UT... St Louis Cardinals??? My Angels the year they actually won it??? Look at the NCAA tourney... you actually call THAT a legit way to crown a champion for an entire season??? But people still talk like playoffs crwon true NCs... BOTh systems are flawed and playoffs are so loved b/c its the status quo here... I strongly believe that

Texas beat OU by ten at a neutral site. TT beat Texas on the final play. (great game) OU hammered TT. I have no answer as to who deserves what. I think Texas was the most consistent. Florida deserves to play for the NC more than LSU did last year. Florida beat #1. I think Florida beats OU. I think Florida pretty much beats anyone right now. I hate to say it because I am not a fan of any of those but they are the best. Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Alabama, Tech, Penn St., Boise St. Have a playoff!

I think OU is going to fist hump Florida.

I think the Gators will win this one. Their defense will be the difference. I don't think OU has faced a defense w so many good athletes

Well everyone can call Dallas a neutral site, but a texas team playing in texas is more or less a home game. And I believe Demarco Murray was out in that game against texas. OU has a better defense than Texas and has more offensive weapons. Who's better between Bradford and McCoy, well that's a toss up. I think this will be a great game and I think it's the correct match up for this season.

Actually the Cotton Bowl is closer to Norman than Austin. I have been to a game there and it's pretty much 50-50. The only time that the attendance is one-sided is when one school has a team that isn't very good. It was definitely a neutral site game. Texas got screwed ....they should have been in the Big12 title game

I think it's hilarious that two weeks ago Bob Stoops was crying like a baby about the BCS. Now he's on the podium saying "Well, it's a tough thing for Texas but they got it right". Give me a friggin break.

As far as a playoff system....how can that be flawed? You can't punish a team for one bad week. I don't want to get into baseball here but any time you have to win three, four and four it's not a fluke. If that's the thinking than why have any postseason, in any sport, at all? Just name the team with the best record as champion.

The thing about a playoff--and I advocate 16 teams--is that it eliminates the subjective aspect of the BCS rankings. The current system leaves too much to opinion. Let the boobs vote all year and then take the conference winners from the ACC, SEC, Big Ten and Pac-10 and have 12 at-large berths up for grabs.

I don't think that anyone in the Big 12 faced a DEFENSE all year, let alone a defense like Florida's.

Closer by what 10 miles or so. It's still in Texas. Besides that point Texas had to fight their way back against Texas Tech, and still lost that game. If they won every game this season, like Auburn did a few years ago then you could say they got screwed. But the great thing about college is football is you better control your own destiny otherwise the voters do.

I think Florida will win this game but would love to see OU beat them. I'm tired of the SEC winning NC's.

Having a playoff for college football would suck massively. As pointed out, it would devalue the regular season schedule and games because the "hot" team at the end of the year would go through the playoffs on luck or momentum. It's better to have someone in the title game because of their body of work. Plus, having a playoff totally destroys the rabid "every game counts" mentality and outlook in CFB. With a playoff, we'd become just like college basketball...a sport nobody really watches religiously until March. Screw that. Sure, not every game on every schedule is a "playoff" game (as is the big proponent of the "every week is a playoff for us" theory in CFB). But, not every game in the March tourney is either. Unless they break up the 119 FBS teams into smaller divisions, there will always be cupcakes and powerhouses.

CFB enjoys the best regular season of any sport. Look at the NFL. Parity has been implemented so much so that even 8-8 teams make the playoffs some years. Yay! Congrats on going .500. (I know...we're .500 too but I don't think we should be going to a bowl either. Difference is, were playing in the Hawaii bowl and not vying for the NC in a playoff race.) That having been said, the computers chose correctly. So what if Texas beat OU? Texas also got beat by Texas Tech and OU pasted TT. If OU and Texas played today, even in Austin, Texas would get smoked. Florida is going to get smoked in the title game too. OU is stronger than all right now.

I dont know about that. Defensively Florida has the edge in my opinion. I would have liked to have seen Texas vs Alabama. Or Oklahoma vs Alabama, and Florida vs either Texas or Oklahoma. I think those four are the best in the country. USC may be in the conversation too. But imagine the blustering pontification if those four play each other. Arguably a dual NC, I think it would be eye opening for the Big Twelve vs SEC argument.

Mad reps for the most part

and I have NOTHING against UT but sorry longhorn fans... beat Texas Tech or don't cry about it... but I know they have enough class in Austin not to throw up a title banner when they smash a team from the big ten like other 'legit' schools out there love to do when they don't get their way

I think OU is going to give Florida a Cleveland Steamer.
