Does anyone think the recent events about OSU and Jim Tressel will affect the way this year's recruits look at OSU? Especially kids in Ohio who ND is also targeting? Or is OSU still OSU to most kids and it won't bother them that investigations could go on? Just want to get other opinions.

Could affect this year, but I don't see it going on any further...could be a reincarnation of the USC scandals, where kids, especially Ohio boys, will simply flock to Cbus just because its Ohio State like you said in the beginning.

Tressel's image is what will be in question. For year's I've heard recruits say how great of a guy he is and how he boasts integrity and honor, but I'm afraid this is a scar that's gonna take a toll on his image in the long run.

Will be in question with whom? The ND, BYU, Stanford recruits? Or their parents? To recruits looking for the easy route around academics and accountability, Tressel has firmly established himself as the "player's" coach. "Coach T will take care of you. If the prez there is afraid to mes with him. He's untouchable."

Unless the NCAA imposes sanctions, forfeits not vacating, loss of scholarships, and "retirement" ala Pat Dye and Gene Stallings, Tressel becomes a role model for the badasses that want to cheat.

USC received sanctions and then proceeded to gather a class of 30+.

OSU won't have a problem.

No, sadly this just confirms to the quality athlete/low morality crowd that OSU is the place for them to go. I can't express how much I want them to clean up the game, but our country is corrupted in every single aspect, from government to college athletics to anything else you look at. College football is a microcosm of America at large in that respect.

I have a lot of friends that are OSU fans and they all seem to be in agreement that this situation will end up helping Tressel recruit in the long run. He shows that he has their back and isn't afraid to lie and look the other way when they try to get a little money in their pocket.

But one thing you have to put into consideration is....sometimes sad but true...the parents make the decisions or have a strong "voice" in where their kid will go...so if the parents aren't exactly screwed up they will have second thoughts about going there....their kids i mean

Trust me it wont change a thing. The kids who go to Ohio State know what they get and know they will keep getting it by different means. Ohio State will still get most of what they want from Ohio-those people dont give a #@$% about this other than they got caught. They love Tressel and unless the school is forced to fire his @$# all will be right back to business as usual. Its like the SEC in that regard only they dont beat SEC schools when they play them at crunch time. This is a blip on the radar for the Buckeyes unless Tressel is forced out (aint happening). At least the culture has been exposed for what it is.
