I had a Cuban a few months ago. Honestly, I wasn't impressed. Nicaraguan and Dominican were far superior.

On a side note, I'm buying my first boxes on Friday at an AJ event (Last Call and Enclave).

what kind, and how fresh? i won't pretend cubans are the end all be all, but a decent cuban brand is pretty heavenly.

if you have a choice, try a punch double (my fav when I'm sauced) or really any montecristo, hoyo, or cohiba... if they aren't fresh, pass

I smoked a Don Carlos Edicion de Aniversario, last week. It was kinda "meh" to be honest. It was a nice, smooth smoke, but the wrapper unraveled, half-way through. Come on, AF, if I'm going to pay $30 for a stick, I expect the construction to be perfect.

I'm smoking a Flores y Rodriguez Connecticut Valley Reserve, tonight. This cigar is flavorful. I'm pairing it with some Zaya rum, and it's a perfect match. This cigar needs some sweetness to cut the spice.

Yep, and the problem with that is that they're going through a civil war, so expect shortages. However, apparently they shipped a bunch of their tobacco to the Dominican. So there's a good chance that the Dominican you're smoking is actually a Nicaraguan, which is a good thing IMO.

I've never had a Connecticut that had spice, it sounds like a weird combo. I haven't had a Connecticut in months.

I can't do too much sweetness, but at the same time I don't like to have too much spice. I guess I'm picky lol.

I'm with you there. I love smoking a cigar and I usually would smoke maybe a dozen a year? Usually reserved for tailgates and golf.

With nothing else to do, I've been golfing just about every week, hence a cigar a week.

I want to get a humidor but I know I'll be tempted to keep the habit going.

Get the humidor, my man. You can age your cigars that way; you don't always need to smoke them right away.
