By moving up he makes the defense respect his legs, which can result with a defender leaving a receiver open underneath. It's a smart move, hard for a defense to defend both.

No, it just closes the distance to the defender. The defender didn’t have to close any ground. He quite literally ran to them.

He needs to step back and make them choose who to defend. If they come forward throw the ball, if they don’t then stand and throw somewhere else.

Yup. This is why we'll never get over the hump with him. He's just not heady in the moment.

Not saying he's great, but good lord. He's 12/14 with a TD.. lol.
And he's picked up some nice yards with his feet and made some nice tosses.

I agree he takes off too soon sometimes, but BK has pretty much said he's coached that way, and is why they've had a decent amount of designed QB runs. He hung into the pocket last week on several, and even had one of those spotlighted by BK in the weekly program.

Wait...Geoff Collins makes 3 million a year, but if GT gets a stop on 3rd or 4th down he donated $10 to the Children's Hospital? Not that impressive, less than $1k paid this year lol

That’s what I was thinking as well.

Off topic a bit but I just saw on the ticker... Harbaugh is 1-3 against MSU at home... NO Way he makes it another year without beating OSU

If Book wasn't a threat to run the defense would just sit further back in coverage, we saw it all the time with Tommy at QB. Problem lies with our WRs being so up and down this year.

A nice throw to tremble which was almost money. Then a garbage throw to the the tight end.

He’s outside the pocket, it’s not a designed run. At this point it’s a broken play and what gives his guys a better chance to get open, step back and give them more time, or run at the defender and the LOS. It makes no sense.

There was no backside pressure and the only pressure to his front was the pressure he created by running at the defender.

We need better from Book against a bad team. But the o-line needs to play much better against a bad team.

These WRs aren't world beaters. They're not open all day, even if you give them time. Better Book threatens to run and make the defense respect his legs, it opens the possibility that a guy comes free underneath as a defender moves up to chase Book. If he stays home, Book can take off. If Book sits in the pocket and no one gets open then he has more ground to cover with his legs.

Offensive line and running backs look like crap today. They need to wake up.

The o-line is not protecting him very well today. But Ian is still missing on throws. He doesn’t know how to lob the ball unless it’s out of bounds.

I’m not sure what play you were watching but the defender wasn’t covering anyone accept Flemister coming out of the flat. If you run at him, it does the opposite. The defender does not have to choose. He waits for Book to run at him and tackles Book. Just like what happened. He needs to create space. If the defender comes forward across the LOS, then Flemister is open. If he doesn’t then he stands there and has time to deliver to someone else. This has nothing to do with the WR’s. It was bonehead play that served no purpose. That’s it.

Let me just say, it’d be completely different if that defender was the option defender in an RPO, like how Mike Norvel has his QB’s press the LOS horizontally. But this wasn’t that. It’s a broken play where the best thing Book can do is keep the play alive until there is a throw to be made. Instead, he just ended the play himself. And this isn’t a unique situation for Book. He doesn’t this a lot under pressure.

Yea. I thought they would take over this week. Kramer especially has looked bad on a few.

I think he plays really high at times. When he is winning low, he’s a tough matchup. But when he gets too high he’s just a big guy lumbering around.
