Final RPI:

1. Cornell
  • 0.6780
2. Maryland
  • 0.6778
3. Princeton
  • 0.6655
4 Penn State
  • 0.6492
5. Ohio State
  • 0.6431
6. Syracuse
  • 0.6397
7. Duke
  • 0.6304
8. Richmond
  • 0.6294
9. North Carolina
  • 0.6250
10. Notre Dame
  • 0.6220
It wouldn't surprise me to see ND hosting at 7 or 8. I'm guessing OSU gets the 4 seed...and much deserved over psu. PSU has the big Cornell win, but not much else. 7-10 RPI's are pretty close. ND beat Duke easily at home, beat UNC easily on the road, and their strength of schedule is much harder than Richmonds.
I think it should be...1. Cornell 2. Maryland 3. Princeton 4. OSU 5. Cuse 6. PSU 7. ND 8 Duke
This makes sense and is more like what Inside Lacrosse has been doing with their polls. How does RPI get us behind Duke, UNC and Richmond? Strength of Schedule? Half of our games were against teams who get bids.

I saw a mock at Lacrosse Reference with a similar set up and us hosting Harvard. I guess that’s reasonable, just a hunch we’ll wind up at Ohio State.

I think Cornell is by far the best team and then Ohio State, Maryland, Princeton, and the 4 ACC teams are all really close. I think Penn State is quite fraudulent, their win over Cornell was an officiating fluke.

Basically:

Tier 1
Cornell

Tier 2
Maryland
OSU
Princeton
ACC

Tier 3
Richmond
Penn State
Harvard

Tier 4 & 5
Everyone else

I’m content with the draw. One step at a time, but Ohio State and then the winner of Penn State/Colgate isn’t horrible. Would have been nice to avoid Cornell until the Championship game since I don’t think they are very deep, but I think we match up OK against them.

ND is tied for the 4th best odds to win it all despite being unseeded and being sent to the Big Ten champ in the first round lol

Only teams with better odds are Cornell, Maryland, and Princeton. Maryland and Princeton are getting the benefit of being on the “easy” side of the bracket.

ND is also a slight favorite over Ohio State on the road in the first round.

Yeah, I don't hate the draw...I HATE the format...The fact that geography is still a major contributing factor to first round match-ups is an absolute joke. For example....I HATE osu, but it's incredibly unfair for them to get ND for their first game. They just beat the number one RPI team to win the Big Ten, and get rewarded with...the 2 time defending champs who everyone knows can still make a run in this tourney and are a slight underdog... Meanwhile, PSU, who is seeded below them, who OSU beat on the road, gets to open up with Colgate as a 4.5 goal favorite. Just goes to show that winning the big ten tourney was absolutely meaningless. At my local high school the band and cheerleading team typically travel from northeast to Florida for a yearly competition..and I know a lot of high schools do this....Yet the NCAA can't make a fair bracket because they don't want teams to have to travel for one weekend...It's insanely stupid.

PLL Draft was tonight, and we had three guys get drafted:
Jake Taylor -> Philadelphia Waterdogs
Chris Kavanagh -> California Redwoods
Ben Ramsey -> Boston Cannons

Assuming there are not many PLL watchers here but I am excited to continue watching these guys this summer!

Yeah, I was hoping Ramsey would drop one more slot so the Redwoods could take him. Definitely excited to see these guys continue playing in the PLL. Now that the draft is over, hopefully they dial it in, maybe with an extra chip on their shoulder for Kav/Ramsey for dropping in the draft, and others that looked like they might get drafted and didn't, and get this 3-Peat going!

Looks like Jeffery is out for the tourney...Big loss in my opinion, as he was really starting play like the number one recruit that he was and was routinely drawing slides with his speed/dodging ability. Time for this team to step up and play more consistent lacrosse!
As always, big games typically come down to Faceoff and Goalie, which is quite concerning as OSU got the better of Lynch in their first game, and OSU's goalie has been one of the best all year long. Lynch really stepped up last year come tourney time, so we'll see if he can dial it in again.
I expect this to be a rather low scoring...11-9 type game...Hopefully ND does enough to move on!

Extremely encouraging 1st half….Lynch dominating faceoffs is huge and could hopefully have more of an impact the later the game gets. Offense looks about as comfortable as it has all season doing a lot of inverting and taking less poor shots. Let’s bring it home boys!

I have yelled out “OH MY GOD” more times watching this game than I have in any other I can remember this season. The boys are playing with a different level of grit today than they have all season long

Hell of a win….undoubtedly the best game we’ve played all year given the quality of opponent. If they can play like this next week, I think I might find myself in Boston for Memorial Day Weekend!

I live in the South so rarely is LAX on tv at restaurants. Today we went to Waldo’s Chicken & Beer after church and the ND/OSU game was on. So relaxing to watch them punk the Buckeyes in their stadium. Still learning about LAX but I watch when ND is on ACC Network.

Great win. This team has been hot and cold all season. Hope they were just waiting for the tournament to flex.

Great win. Kavanaugh and Taylor were unstoppable. How do the Irish measure up against Penn St? Would be awesome to knock the Nittany Lions out of another playoff!

That was definitely an entertaining win! As with most big games, it starts and ends with faceoff/goalie... It all started with Big Game Lynch. He had such a dominating performance that totally set the tone to get their offense in rhythm and just totally control the game. 17/23 is just insane. On the back end, Ricciardelli really stepped up too..71% save percentage..Again..crazy. I can't see them keeping those numbers up, but if those two are even close to that...watch out...3 peat incoming...GO IRISH!
