Yeah in January I thought we might win three national championships this year (excluding fencing) Now more like zero.

A couple of our bottom feeder programs did have a good week. MBB won two including a crazy 4 OT win over Cal yesterday. And today our last place Hockey team extended their season by taking out Minnesota in the Big Ten tourney two out of three in Minneapolis.

I'm pretty confident the lacrosse team will improve. I saw them play at OSU last year and although we won we didn't look great. Far better team in May. The margin for error might be smaller this year, though, given the way other teams are playing.

Watching ND/Mich on the Big Ten Network today. Irish up 8-3 at the half.
Jack Kizer on the BTN. (not our Jack Kiser) =. Pretty good broadcast. Was afraid it would be homer city but they've been quite even in their commentary.

watching this game and it is pretty sad that our irish don't get with the times and have a video board like scUM has and so many other programs

Cohesive lines played pretty darn well, everything midfield driven to create scoring opportunities for the attack instead of asking Kav to QB things.

Team looked great to my VERY untrained eye.

Announcers, I thought, were very ND friendly. We got lots of praise.

Team finally started playing up to their standard.

Admittedly, I don't think it was a complete shitshow against Maryland (definitely not their best, but Maryland is also a great team, so you can't afford many mistakes, if any), but the Ohio State game was absolutely shitshow territory.

This was back to the norm.

The team is definitely still trying to figure things out....Like LAX said, switching the offense to be more midfield driven, to create plays for the attack definitely worked out better. Angrick played that role incredibly well. They really only played two lines at middie today too. I will say Finley has A LOT of work to do. I thought he could develop into a Dobson presence....he's not. Pretty much can only go one way, and has been a turnover machine. They are definitely still trying to figure out their SSDM's too. Ramsey essentially played the whole game, which is going to be incredibly tough. Alacqua was back, but noticeably hobbled. Reinhardt looks great, but is still a freshman, and learning on the ropes. Definitely an interesting move to put Jeffrey at SSDM. I'm sure it wasn't what he was thinking coming in as the #1 rated player, but it actually may serve this team well to put him in that role for the year. IMO, you have to have two quality lines of SSDM's. Lynch dominating face today definitely helped too!

Didn’t receive a ton of specifics but I can share that Buchner’s injury is not expected to be season ending thankfully…need him back soon for that SSDM depth.

Any idea why they didn't take a transfer shorty? To me its like a WR or DB in football, just take one because there's no such thing as too much depth there and seemed like an obvious need with Parlette and Harris graduating.

Agree with Irishrb, they still need to find that outside hammer to stretch the defense. Liked what I saw from 99, but Michigan had quit at that point, not sure if he's a legit shooting threat or not.

The Irish yearn for Sergio

Rewatched some of the game and figured I’d share some thoughts and questions for those that know more than I:

-Ricciardelli still has his moments to fix, but I find myself really enjoying watching his mobility both in and around the cage. I’m sure that will come in handy as he continue to grow with time.

-Busenkell (who I really enjoyed last year) and Maheras had very nice sweeping shots from the outside that I feel like we haven’t seen much of this year (man, I miss Dobson). Both are seemingly skilled passers and generally pile up a handful of total assists per game. Could these skills translate to attack and give us that second passing threat we are missing there? I’m sure there’s something I am missing in the translation from Middie to attack whether it is physical or play-style wise.

-Like the addition of Jeffrey at SSDM as we get healthier there and allow the offensive lines to gel. Still, watching his transition goal, it’s tough not to get excited about his potential. Not sure if they can really afford it now, but I’d love for him to get another shot on offense at some point to try and stretch the field.

Big game against duke today. Week off so I will be curious to see if they have 2 healthy lines of SSDM's and what they do with Jeffrey. Looks wet, which will help duke...Hopefully they come out ready to play and curb stomp them!

Did we ever hear where Lyght was yesterday? Defense was still incredible even without him. I doubted Ricciardelli to start the season but it seems like he’s settled in and will be the next great ND goalie

Can't ever find anything about injuries in lacrosse unless LAX gets insider information. Lose Lyght and Busenkell, but bring back Buchner, and a healthier Alacqua. They have yet to play a game with a fully healthy D. Hopefully they have everyone healthy when it really matters!
