For people who have an S-Video slot on your video card, there is a way to stream the game to your TV, provided you have a newer TV with said S-Video attachment.
I'm going to explain how to display your computer monitor on your TV for ease of viewing. I have a 22 in. HD monitor, but I still don't want to sit in front of the computer for a whole game. I would much rather chill on the comfort of my couch, watching it on my 48 in. TV. The quality will most likely not be HD, unless it is being broadcast in it, and your comp supports it, but a whole screen of football is still better than a computer monitor. Without further ado, this is what you need.
First and foremost, your video card must have an S-Video port on the back. If you look in the rear of your comp, and it should look like this:
Your video card is the area on the back of your comp where the funny looking cord you have to screw in resides. The S-Video port should be right by that. With this knowledge, you need to find the corresponding port on your TV. Most new TVs will have them, but if not, again, your screwed. Now these most likely ruled out several people, but if you have ports on the video card, and TV, you're in luck. Make sure you see how many slots are in the port on each, because you will need to purchase an S-Video cable from Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, or wherever is closest. You'll also need an audio (red/white) to run from your headphone or sound port on your comp, into the red/white slots in the same display setup as the S-Video. Generally an analog jack for the headphone slot on your computer will work fine, with the corresponding red/white jacks on the TV end. You can get both of these cables from Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, etc.
So to confirm this, you need to get an S-Video cable and an audio cable, all of which fit into the slots on your TV and comp. Make sure you get the right cables! You can get both of these for roughly ten dollars each, although some can be more expensive. Now, once you set up the cables from your computer to your TV, you need to run your computer display onto your TV.
I have XP 64 because I refuse to buy a new OS every time Microsoft wants to add new features they should have just included in the original OS. Your OS may vary slightly based on Vista or 7, damn you Microsoft. But I digress, and won't get into my personal feelings towards Microsoft. Now, to get the display going, head to Start>Control Panel>Appearance and Themes>Display>Settings>Advanced. A window with tabs should pop up. Look for your video card tab and hit start control panel. This should bring up a new window with options for your display. You want to select clone display, so it displays on the comp and the TV. You'll have to adjust your resolution until it is right for your television screen. This option should be in the final control panel you opened to select clone. You can just keep scaling it down until you get it right on your TV.
If anyone has questions, feel free to ask and I'll clarify. This is how I'll be watching the game tomorrow! **** you ABC, I'll get the game on my TV without your ****ing help!
If this gets enough attention, Mods, can we make a thread out of it for ease of viewing and staying on topic?
