Thanks. I get tired of reading stuff cause everyday its something different. Hopefully he gets signed so the Flyers can get Gagne moved.

It has been strangely quiet. A lot of other transactions are dependent on the Kovy domino falling first, so after that gets finalized one way or another, I think things will pop pretty quick on other fronts.

Be careful with the reports from either Eklund or Kyperos. Neither really has "confirmed" sources and they both will Tweet things that are either blatantly false or are half truths. There are a ton of scenarios that could be holding things up.

The Koivu contract in Minnesota didn't help the Kings leverage. I know Koivu is a center and what-not, but Kovy is still going to use that as a reason he should get even more. We'll see. A lot can happen. I still think Kovy is going to the KHL. That is the only place he can get the dollars he is asking for. There are a lot of things that are contingent on Kovy's signing and it is going to be very interesting to see who goes where once the Kovy deal gets done.

On a side note, how to think the Donal Fehr thing is going to impact the NHL? The players like him, apparently, but do think that his hiring will raise the potential of a work stoppage? That could really do some damage to the league and all the goodwill from the Olympics and a great playoff season this year.

I know Eklunds "reports" are a heaping smelly pile of shit. I cant even begin to count the number of crap rumors he's come up with. I know I hate that Koivu contract cause that means Jeff Carter of the Flyers is gonna be asking for some big time money.

The Gagne to the Kings deal keeps coming up in regard to the Flyers, but I haven't heard any other Philly-LA trade possibilities. Gagne has made it clear he won't waive his no-trade clause, so I don't know why that possibility keeps coming up.

I am surprised Stempniak is still available. He seems like he would be a good bargain pick up. That is probably one of the pieces that will fall right after Kovy signs.

I know. I really really want Gagne to stay, but it doesn't look likely. I want him to go to LA just cause I can root for him out there and he'd have him a good chance to have a good year. As long as its out of the east i'm good.

I think Stempniak is waiting to see what Kovy gets.

Ok i'm just gonna say fuck espn. They don't even do nothing to promote the NHL or cover it. Yet when I go on espn.com to the NHL page 3/4'ths of the articles are insiders stuff. God how effing riduculous.

They already got 2 this offseason..

I only knowof one and I never heard of him... I'm talking about established defenders who can make an impact with the first line(s)

It would have to be a trade. The Leafs are looking to unload Kaberle, but I would say no thanks to that. Who else is really on the market?

KPENN - latest rumor, report, scuttlebutt...whatever you want to call it: Kings offer Kovy 15 year 80 mil contract. Front loaded in years 1-5. Says it is all but a done deal.

I've heard similar reports, so I won't believe it until I see it. Who knows? I hope it gets done one way or another soon.

That would be a big downgrade from the 10 for 10 he was looking for. Would make the Kings a very dangerous team though.

On a side note, I guess a good buddy of mine from Williams is doing real well at the Pen's prospect camp. He's a beast with good speed and decent skill, I'm hoping he gets a shot to play in the AHL.

ESPN knows hockey fans are hardcore and those that are out there may just pay for the crumbs...

Ok that's pretty good money for his value. There is no way he's worth $10 million

Yeah, the cap hit would work out to be on average about 5.3 or so per year. Very manageable. The 15 years makes me a little nervous. That is a pretty long deal. Doughty should get 15 years, but a guy that's 27? I dunno.

Eh as long as he doesn't have a no trade or no movement clause it should be ok.

I am no expert, by any stretch, but I gotta think with that kind of a low cap figure, his no trade is going to be pretty iron clad. I would just think that would be the trade off for giving him so much lower than the 10 year 100 mil he was hoping for.

Yeah true . Still if the Kings get him for $5.3 million that's a good deal for the Kings

$5.3 mil and 40-50 goals = good deal.

$5.3 mil and 20-25 goals = ugh!!!

I like Simon Gagne and respect the hell out of him, but considering Simon Gagne makes a little over $5 million its a good deal.

Edit: I meant that from a goal scoring aspect. I thinks Gagne is a a lot better 2 way player. Still would take him over Kovy

I couldn't agree more with you.

As it stands right now, I would also take a better two way player in Gagne over Kovy. I might change my tune when I see Kovy light the lamp a bunch of times in a Kings sweater, but I am not sold just yet. He played out East, so I admit, I have not seen much of him. It looks like a done deal so I had better get used to cheering for him.

I'll admit maybe I'm a bit to hard on him, but the guy is selfish. In fairness to him though he's never had a legit #1 center or a really good team around him. Having guys like Kopitar and Brown(one of my favorite non flyers, love his game. He'd look great in orange and black) who they could potentially put on a line together will help Kovy a lot.
