It's hard to believe that Quinn is taking so much heat from the scouts and the draft "experts." I (although slightly biased) can't think of any good reason he isn't better than JaMarcus Russell. Nobody really knows whether Russell can read a defense, people had questions about Vince Young, but Russell doesn't have near teh athletic ability that Young has. Who cares if he can throw it 60 yds on his knees; if he's on his knees he will probably be sacked and you can't throw it down field every play, even if you have Randy Moss. And, Quinn doesn't exactly throw lame ducks around, he can probably throw it a good 50 yds, if given enough time (again, this is the Raiders though)
The only possible explanation for the Raiders picking Russell over Quinn is Quinn's character. Which of course means that Quinn has too high of a character to fit in on the Raiders team, and with their new HC.
Judging by the physical and the weigh-in alone, it shows that Quinn cares more about his pro career and is more competitive than Russell. Russell gained, supposedly, ten pounds in a little over a month; and, in the same amount of time, Quinn went from 6.8% body fat to 4% body fat, and obviously has incredible arm strength to beat out many of the offensive linemen in the bench press. How can a team pass up on someone with that much of a work ethic for someone who was lazy preparing for one of the most important events of his life.
The one good thing is Quinn's opportunity to play for a better, more stable team. I guess I would rather him go top ten and have a great career than him go #1 and have a decent career. That way, we could hear about how stupid the GMs are.
Go Texans! Draft Quinn! Then, lower ticket prices so some of us Texas natives can enjoy a game!
