I know it's probably been more, but I only remember 1fumble...against army in the endzone and it still went for a touchdown. He was probably our most sure handed player on offense.

His other fumble was in the UCLA game, he got twisted around backward in the pile and the guy came in and popped him hard ball popped straight up UCLa recovered. Think it was in the first quarter.

Been watching the combine this weekend on NFLNetwork and I saw some interesting things.
1. Quinn is a physical freak! During the weigh in session you had skinny qbs, plumb qbs, and then Quinn in his own class. J. Russel looked like he had a fanny pack on his waist. Also some of the tatoos were out of control. Then quinn gets called out by the strength coach from Ariz. Quinn calls his agent, who tells him "Nooooooo" - and then he strolls over to the bench and gets called "sunshine by the spotter". He casually gets under the weight and cranks off 24 reps - there were lineman who did not get 24. No receiver and I think no RB got 24! Ryan H got 22, Santucci got 23! Wierd when your QB is as strong as the OL

2. Ted Ginn JR is doing his best Nelly impersonation.

3. Chris Leak may not go until 4-5 round. He looked intimidated.

4. Calvin Johnson is another freak!! Electing not to work out - he sees all the scouts there, so he borrows another guys shoes and runs a 4.3.

5. Thanks Ty for helping Olsen pack his bags in south bend. Cannot believe we had this kid and lost him to the U.

6. Kaliel (sp?) Center from USC is the best lineman in the draft. And he knows it - good but a little arrogant. He was asked about certain guys electing not to participate in the combine and he stated "they obviously have something to hide" kind of an a$$hole statement figuring he must know every guys situation to make that comment. The poodle has done with his apprentice.

Thanks Weis for losing BOTH of the Little's, and losing out on Marvin Austin as well!

How does the loss of the Little's or Marvin Austin, who by the way I don't think we ever had anyway, have anything to do with the draft. recruiting is over for now let it go.

Cool, thanks. Here's the correct breakdown:
  • 04-05: 4 fumbles, 2 lost
  • 05-06: 2 fumbles, 1 lost
  • 06-07: 3 fumbles, 2 lost
Not bad if you ask me.

Very good actually. His ability to hold onto the ball was excellent. I beileve he might have set, or come close to setting, the ND record for touches without a fumble.

Anyone who says he has fumblitis is a fucking idiot. And that's sugar coating it.

In my opinion thats excellent. Yet when i was watching the nfl network this morning they said Darius will now probably not be taken until the later rounds because he ran a 4.6 and they said he had a major fumbling problem his whole career.

From Pat Kirwan (link):
Ryan Harris, the big tackle from Notre Dame, may have struggled on tape for a few teams, but he came across as a young man with the maturity and personality of a guy teams would like to have on their roster. For a player like Ryan, there may be a few players with a higher technical grade, but they may not fair as well in football intelligence. His interview will be a critical factor.

And this from SI (link):
After Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson and Joe Thomas took part in the workouts, scouts were astonished Brady Quinn decided the leave the combine without throwing in the RCA Dome. This comes on the heals of the phantom injury that forced Quinn to withdraw from the Senior Bowl three days before the event began. Quinn's draft stock has taken a major hit at the combine. There are questions about his decision making on and off the field as well as his leadership skills.

Ahh, yes, that "phantom injury" that required his knee to be drained during halftime ...

But honestly, what are we supposed to expect from a reporter who can't even spell "heels"?

I still think he would impress in all the drills, might as well do them and put aside any doubt. Agents....ugh.

anyone know how Nedu did? I think the DBs were today...

The NFL site only showed his vert as 37.5 and 15 bench reps, both in the middle of the pack. No 40 time, they only showed top 10, which was 4.3-4.46.

His 40 time was 4.51. Not too suprising. His bench reps were among the lowest of the DBs...again not too suprising.

Is it me or do our guys at the combine seem to lack upper body strength? Other than Quin, they all had below average reps for bench. Could this be why our offensive and defensive lines seem to be manhandled on occasion? I believe our strength and conditioning program needs to be improved before we will be a dominant team.

The skipping the combine thing is actually pretty routine as far as the top 2 or 3 QB's are concerned, I don't think Leinart or Young threw last year. If you look back at the last ten years or so I am sure you would see that most of the top QB's in those years way til their own schools pro day to workout. Its just blown out of proportion because Quinn is "sliding" right now in the draft.

I guarantee the guy that wrote this article probably saw exactly no ND games this past year, or even in the past four years in all actuality. Look here's my thing, if you want to be a sports writer, thats great, but do the research ask your own questions, and come to your own conclusions. Don't just spout out every other talking heads regurgitated bullshit.

There was an opinion article that said something to this affect in the observer today.

I know it's routine. It is still annoying though. I got the feeling from the Quinn Bench video that he'd be game for any of it, but due to the agent, he can't. The same agent that is profiting, as his draft status "drops". Just do the damn workouts, he has nothing to hide.

Oh yeah I know Quinn wasn't scared to do the drills but as he said on the NFL Network he wanted to put himself in the best situation to put his best foot forward. which means throwing to his own receivers, having his own coaches run him through the drills. Plus, its a "myth" that his stock is dropping, I guarantee those that really know their shit will pick him if they need a QB. I think Oakland would be a train wreck of a place for Brady to go. The only reason I see Quinn dropping at all is because (a) Al Davis is a moron and (b) it all depends on what teams decide is their highest priority at that spot in the draft. It won't be because Quinn has suddenly dropped in talent level.
