A lot can be pulled from this year depending on how you wanna spin it. I'm not ready to send kelly down the road yet and realistically with the Weis era still pretty fresh in everyone's no one should honestly think it's time to ship out BK with that in mind alone. All things considered it's obvious this program has taken strides under brian kelly. 2012 was in reality a flash in the pan. It was cool. But its not the level this program is at in all reality. But were also not throwing snow balls in our own house and hopping on planes to play Hawaii in a before Christmas bowl.
That all being said..
It's fair to start waivering on the pedestal many of (myself included) have collectively put brian kelly on since arrival on campus, and shortly after the 2012 campaign. He may not be as "elite" a coach as we were so ready to believe. A good coach, absolutely. The man knows football. Seems to posses the balence and merit it takes to run a university that requires your kids to compete in the class. The mold seems to fit. But it's hard to tell. Are we expecting too much out of the old ball coach? Are we forced to compare him to the Slumlins and Urban Liars of the world? The nick Satans? The "elite" coaches are winning 10 11 12 games a year because they can sleep at night knowing their guys can just about do anything short of a felony and start on Saturday. Not have your signal caller, or your shutdown corner, number one wideout, and your depth chart all be depleated due to academic violation on Golsons end and an ONGOING INVESTIGATION in which leaders on both sides of the ball, key players, depth on the line were all impacted significantly before the first snap was had against Rice on the 31st of August. An investigation that took weeks to conclude, these players couldn't play over the extended period of time were not found innocent or guilty yet were still held out till the evidence was analyzed and a conclusion was drawn. meanwhile in Tallahassee elite head coach jimbo Fisher has an administration having a conduct code meeting moved back till the day after the Season so his heisman trophy winning quarterback can lead those FSU NOLES! I know this is seen as the classic cop out, but this is the reality of our program in the modern day of college football. I want to compete. I believe there is a way to still compete and still hand out world class degrees at the same God damn time. But I've come to realization that its going to take a special head ball coach to infact wake up those echoes were always hearing about. Is brian Kelly that guy? I don't know. But I'm not willing to sail him down the river when it's December and a team that has never oversigned is depleated from playing physical opponents like navy and standford, intertwined with the talent of FSU and ASU. It happens when an already thin depth chart runs into those kinds of teams. It happens. And when i weigh out these reasons stated above I can't quit on the Brian Kelly era just yet.
A few big changes I hope to see from BK heading into the future offseason
1)Hire an offensive cordinator, take a step back and get someone in here that can help run the spread offense to its fully capacity. Keep the thumb on the pulse, but allow the offensive cordinator take the reigns, let BK focus on the attention to detail that has been so over present on this skid (EG: the 2 point conversion vs Northwestern)
2) Run the rock bruh.
If we're gonna take the time to drag elite tailback talent out of SEC country, for the love of God lets utilize the damn Sunshine State Stable (trademark pending) BK get pass happy far too often, I get it, getting vertical with the likes of fuller and all these reiceivers is fun, but coverage sacks and turnovers isn't because you haven't dictated the pace of the game by establishing the run and everyone on campus knows your throwing the ball on 3 and 8 or 3 and 14 as of lately. Establish. The. Run. Open up windows down field, your talented signal caller isn't pressing and forcing balls because windows are open because 8 guys are in the box cause #25 and #1 are banging you to death. Run the ball. "YALL WANNA WIN LET BOOBIE SPIN."
That's all I have to say about that.
