So basically at this point we're looking at guys without jobs or who are going to be promotions from lower tier (i.e., also ran) programs, right? Chryst, Leftwich, etc? Maybe a Matt Nagy, just to really screw with us Chicago-based fans. ND is basically the Bears of college football anyway, live off the glory of grainy black and white film and a great season in the 80s and then pretend like you're still committed to winning.

Once again reminding coaches, fans and players that at the end of the day it is all about not spending money, and thinking that no matter what they do, the fans will continue to show up and pay as long as the team wins 8 games a year. its been so long since they won a title that they forgot what kind of money comes with that.... I wish they made some real business decisions.

When is Swarbrick’s contract up? I don’t trust him. I wonder if Swarbrick has ever actually been invested in Freeman as a coach considering his hire was contingent on Rees as OC. This current lack of support does not reveal that he is if the rumors are true.
The conventional wisdom is it runs out at the same time as Jenkins, whose term ends in 2025.

Nothing will change when him or Jenkins are done. The next guys will be the same way. The clown show won’t end no matter who’s in charge

This is ultimately the question, right? Does the BOT or even the BOF decide that a change in direction is necessary, or are they content with the direction of the University and the Athletic Department's place within it?

Wait he's clerking on SCOTUS right now? Just looked it up and he's Kavanaugh 24-25 lmao holy crap. When he was writing me up back in the dorms I'd never have guessed.

Florida definitely not, no one thinks of them as an academic school recent ratings manipulation aside. USC is a rich kid school, not academically serious for undergrads. Michigan I will give you, which is why beating them in football is so important.
Clerking on SCOTUS next year I think.

They would rather have ND go 9-3 with no issues while the program prints money than go 14-0 and actually win the national championship.

Calling it now this is the kernel that will end the ND Freeman era. This is a PR nightmare that's going to cost ND for years, no top HC, DC and OC aren't going to come to ND after this.

One of two things is going to happen, Freeman don't have the resources to compete at the highest level and the ironically buyout Freeman to get rid of a failed coach. The other is Freeman wins in spite of being handcuffed by the administration and bolts to a program that will fully support him and those programs won't blink at paying his buyout.

As long as it's not: Brian Ferentz, John Donovan, or Gerad Parker as a non Co-OC.....I'm good at this point.

This is almost always the way our coaching searches go. Lots of optimism in the beginning, usually with unrealistic expectations. Eventually we wind up with everybody's 5th-7th lukewarm option and we have to pretend it's awesome
Hoo boy...

I dont understand it. Isnt a buy out just like a soccer transfer fee?
So you get it back with your own transfer fee a few years later when he heads elsewhere.

I honestly don't think ND writes contracts that have buyouts in them. LSU and Alabama paid us nothing.

It's unbelievable.

This school doesn't deserve Freeman.
Shit, for all of his flaws, it didn't even deserve Brian Kelly.

If this is how it's going to be join the Ivy League.

So whose our options now? We apparently told Sean Lewis no, the Kansas State guy turned us down? Moorehead got an extension, and Ludwig we don’t wanna pay the money. This is just embarrassing not only does it affect the current players but it can’t be a good look for recruiting either.

Looking all over Twitter you have a lot of pissed of alumni and people tweeting to Jack. A lot of them have donated to the 18 billion endowment and don’t want Jack around any longer.
