Not for nothing but in the final coaches poll he ranked ND significantly higher than most other coaches. Maybe he can be swayed by going from $500k/year to $2.5m knowing he will be under a defensive head coach and should have full autonomy over the offense. Thats a lot of money to let ego get in the way, so hopefully he just didnt want to give up full control to have to answer to Saban.

yeah id be thinking the same. It's not such an easy task. Like if you are ND you don't want the negative press of having a bunch of dudes reject you. You want to pick a guy, keep it all very hush hush and have the deal sealed quickly without any leaks
