ND's opponents

Just wanting to point out some things in case you already didn't know:

Wake Forest: If it beats Clemson on the road in two weeks it has a great chance at reaching the ACC Championship game

Pitt: They control their own destiny in the Big East. Tough game against Cincy coming up but if they win that, they have a chance at the Big East title.

Michigan & Michigan State: Michigan State losing to Nebraska made things bad as Michigan pretty much has to beat Nebraska at home in a few weeks for either Mich or Mich State to have a chance at going to the Big 10 final. i'd say neither team has a chance in the Big 10 final but if they get to play Penn State then, yes, they have a chance. My guess is that Penn State will lose their next 3 games and either Ohio State or Wisconsin will go to the title game.

Stanford: Huge game coming up in 2 weeks against Oregon. If they win that they have a good shot at being #2 in the nation when ND plays them. Personally, i think every ND fan needs to hope Stanford runs the table up until our game with them. That's the stage we want. On the road, last game of the year, against the #1 pick of the draft, and the #1 or #2 team in the nation. If that happens then we get to see how much we've improved. If we win, it's the program's biggest win maybe since 1993 or at least since the Michigan or Fla State wins in 2002. If we get demolished then at least we know heading into next year that we aren't there yet and still need to improve a lot. I just don't want to see Stanford lose 1 or 2 of these games before we play them and them be something like #13 in the nation.

Yeah, we have a realistic chance of ending the year with victories over 2 to 3 conference champions. Would be pretty crazy.

I doubt we will be ranked even if win win out till then. We go the voters to vote for us and we proved them wrong busy our own bad play. It is going to take alot for them to vote for us again.

First off the game against Wake Forest noone other then us the fans will be watching this game. Everyone will be watching LSU and BAma. Wake forest and MD bot can be tricky. You never know which team is gong to show up some weeks they play good and others the play like CRAP. I do believe we win all thses i just dont see us being ranked.

Tis is 15 out of the top 25. We may have 3-4 teams ahead of us vying to get in but I think about 9-10 of te scenraios happen. That allows ND to squeeze into number 18-19 IMO. IF we finish strong and are not challenged in the next 3 games we can impress the voters. We are underfeated if we turnover the ball 3 times in the first 2 games and 0 vs USC. I don;t think we're a top 4 team with those wins but we are closer to being in the top team than any other 2-3 loss team out there. IF we are 18 going into Stanford and we win we sneak into #14 and yes BCS! Many of those scenarios play out if you include the last game of the season. some teams will drop because of losing a divisional championsip game.

We received one vote from the AP and are at #33 overall. We received 9 votes from the coaches poll and are at #32 overall.

We're already picking up a few votes in the polls after the Navy win. Barely any, but at least we're on the radar.

If we're 8-3 going into Stanford, we're in the top 25 for sure. Looking around the country, there are a handful of top teams, another ten or so fairly solid teams, and everybody else. For certain there won't be 25 teams with two losses or less. Voters are not forgetting how whacky our three losses have been, and USC [sadly] is proving that it is still a powerful team by this stage of the season. We'll be in the top 25 with the three ACC wins, if we can get them, regardless of score [Wake and Maryland have some respect out there]. But even if we upset Stanford, we will not crack that top 15 in my crystal ball. [mental game: let's say that you give the top five conferences an average of four teams apiece --- a pretty big stretch for the ACC and the PAC12 and even the BIG --- and the Big East one. That would be 21 teams. Add Boise of course. Still three slots left to push out an 8-3 Notre Dame?? And, the glorious SEC has two monsters but not a lot of consistency elsewhere. Big 12 is probably the only really deep conference this year. ]
