4 Game series starting in 2015:

Texas, Notre Dame agree to four-game series - ESPN

Kelly's Take:
"Starting a series with the Texas Longhorns is great not just for Notre Dame, but college football, and we couldn't be happier about it," he said in a statement. "When I look at the job Coach Brown has done at Texas in reviving a once proud tradition, I see many parallels to what our staff plans to do at Notre Dame. "The addition of Texas to our future schedules is just another example of the type of high-profile programs we plan on playing as an independent. We look forward to embracing our unique status within college football and continuing to schedule games against similar programs down the road."

Texas is No. 2 in NCAA history with 845 wins. Notre Dame is third with 837.

Wow I just came to post a new thread about this but you beat me to it.

Should be a series of great games. Could definitely put us in the National Championship picture if we do well against them and Miami.

We have one of the toughest overall schedules this decade, we play OU twice, Miami 3 times at least, Texas 4 times, USC 10 times, who knows which of our rivals could make a come back (UM) or become a perennial contender (Pitt) All i can say is, if BK wants to make ND the best again, he's got the schedule to do it.

Don't forget Boston College just about every year and Arizona State 3 times.

Catholics vs Cowboys?

Catholics vs Cowboys?

If you havent heard already, ND and Texas have agreed to a four game series stating in 2015 week one in South Bend, I personally am stoked for this, (partially because if im lucky enough to get into ND, this would be my first game as a student) ND is 8-2 against Texas all time, the last time we played a home and home in 95 and 96 and won both. So how do you feel about ND vs the Horns? As always....oh wait KPENN i want my vbucks. I'd love to hear your opinions on what is surely to be a fantastic series!

I love it. I like how far away the series is too, if it were in the next year or two I dont think ND would fare to well. BK should have the program rolling by 2015.

ND wins this little serious 3-1

2015 will be a great year to start this rivalry back up. Certainly by that time BK will have us up in contention with the nations best. Very good move by both programs I think.
One of the biggest knocks that Mark May has put on us over the past 3-5 years has been strength of schedule. Now wth Miami, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona St, Pittsburgh, USC, and even Utah, Lou Holtz will have plenty to fire back with now.

Bumping this thread because at this point both teams are going to be 4-5 after today. Although I don't see this as much of a surprise considering the injuries and everything for ND, what is the reason Texas is so bad this year?

Found this on espn self proclaimed "experts"
How To Fix Texas - ESPN Video - ESPN

I don't know what is worse. Danny Kanell saying " it is a disservice to put Texas in the mix with ND and Michigan" or David Pollack saying that Texas had two of the greatest players in the last era in Colt McCoy (LOL) and Vince Young.

I don't see what's wrong with any of those statements. Texas played in the national championship last year. They also beat Nebraska and were competitive against Oklahoma this year, something neither Michigan or ND would be able to accomplish. Also, Colt McCoy has more wins than any other quarterback in college football history, and he did that in years where Texas had a very subpar running game so he was mostly doing it himself. And if you don't think Vince Young is one of the greatest college football players of all time (or at least the past 10 years), you must not have watched him enough.

Man this is going to be great for ND football and a great way for us to recruit in Texas !! We need some of those big boys (O-Line, D-Line) and them strong (Run Backs, D-Backs). Yeah ND football is popular mostly cause back in the days ND was one of the only schools that where on TV every weekend, but players in Texas and in the country don't really get to see all that much of ND football tradition, with ND playing USC every year and off and on with UCLA, Washington, Stanford, and now in the future with Arizona St., they do really well on the West Coast recruiting. I truly love ND being an Independent more and more every year, cause they don't have to just play in one coast/conference like most teams do. They can go to the West Coast to the East Coast to the Dirty South, to ChiTown Central every year whenever they want !! We just need to win games so we can get those 5 star recruits.
