i think BK coming out to say he has simplified the playbook to level the playing field is his way of saying Rees wont be in the picture.

Then we are counting on beating teams with our superior talent and execution. I don't know how that translates against USC, Oklahoma, Stanford, Michigan State and Miami.

We had one qb for 3.5 years and always, always, always took spring ball as an opportunity to get better at the basics and develop the younger kids. Reminds me of the saying "Jack of all trades, masters of none." Use spring ball to get 10 pass/5 run plays working like a well oiled machine. Then no matter what you add throughout the year (plays specificially designed per opponent) you still have those 15 plays that you know you can call and have 100% trust in your players regardless of qb.

Hey does anyone think "hey maybe Tommy got better over the off season" or is that just me? I think I would be the only happy Irish fan if Tommy starts. Maybe just maybe tommy worked on his throwing like a smart person would do.

Isn't it a little early to be hammered?

O and you havent seen that with other quarterbacks? Tommy had his fair share of long balls to. And on that note what have you seen from Hendrix, Golson, Keil. Nothing. Im just saying not tring to be mean.

You're right, I haven't seen enough of Golson/Hendrix to say they're better, but I'm sure as hell ready to close the book on Tommy and give them a shot. Personally, I've seen enough of him to know what we'll get.

Im not saying we just give tommy the spot. I just hate how almost everyone on here is saying "Tommys sucks" and they act like evryone is becoming all stars and tommys throwing picks in the spring. If anything I read an artical on Tommy that said he had a 40 yard run. Im not saying hes a runner now but maybe hes improved. He has said he relizes he needs to work on these things and he is. So you can tell hes fighting for it.

If Tommy starts the season.... I will surely schedule my first ever AA meeting, the night of 9-1-12. If Tommy starts the first two games, we will surely be 2 and 0. God help me if he starts against scUM. Arm strength isn't something that develops over time. Great kid but BK knows it's time to move on.

If you watched that game I dont think you would of said that. Tommy drove us down the feild with 30 seconds left and then the defense dident show up. The defense wasnt in the whole second half so I would really pick a different game because Tommy almost won

Tommy just can't play Q-back against a 'solid' defense. He's shown that time and time again. Defensive coordinators are too good at limiting him. I'm not saying I have the answer, but I just can't watch this team for another year with him being the QB.

whoever Kelly thinks the long term solution is. If I had to guess it's either Golson or Hendrix as I expect Kiel won't be ready being a true frosh.

Don't fret kuehnja--it absolutely will not be Rees

They want a QB who can extend plays with their feet & mobility--That is not REES

They want a QB who can give them an aggressive vertical game--That is not REES

They want a QB who can turn it up & run------That is not REES

They want a QB that is instinctual and doesn't over think--That is not REES

Absolutely everything they are looking for--they being Kelly & Martin --in retooling the sluggish 2011 offense requires a QB with a different skill set then Tommy----

Kiel is to young---Rees is totally wrong for the changes they seek--its not that complicated

It will between Golson & Hendrix---IMO Golson will be the choice --but i am quite positive it will not be Tommy in 2012.

Hendrix will be the starter and Golson will play in certain situations like Hendrix did last year imo.

IMO (and it ain't worth much)

#1. Golson or Hendrix
#2. See #1
#3. Rees
#4. Keil (redshirt or whatever you want to call it)

I think we see the #2 QB on the field for 5 or 10 plays per game.

I am looking to see long term continuity in our qb approach. I am absolutely thrilled with our latest two qb recruits but wonder how we evaluate and how we develop our roster and potential signee.

Probably the best and most likely scenario. Considering that Hendrix and Golson have similar athletic capabilites, they are more interchangeable than a Rees and whoever combo package. I'm not against Rees and I'd love to see him come out blazing and lead the Irish to BCS game. But I can't pin my hopes on that. He only gets the job if Golson &Hendrix choke really bad.

I think either Hendrix or Golson will start this season, but why would you want to play both of them when they basically have the same skill set? When I think of two QBs playing, I think of two completely different QBs that make the defense defend a different aspect of the game, like a pass first QB and a run first QB.

Then lastly if both Hendrix and Golson both share reps this year, I think we will be in this exact same place next year debating which QB will be the starter next year. We need one QB to play to give us stability for the years to come.
