I'm sure that their students and boosters didn't want to travel that whole way to watch their team get embarrassed either.

" The university sold only 2,771 out of an allotment of 17,500 tickets ..."

Don Bosco would have sold more tickets.

Don't worry. Once TCU rapes the league for the forseeable future, you won't see that happen again. Basically its TCU + the Big East.

They'll be one of the teams we pick up from the Big East, since we've been looking at getting some more big games in the future. TCU/ND fixture methinks!

TCU will be competing with Depaul, however, for the bottom of the Big East Basketball annually.

Ohio State lost money last year by going to the Rose Bowl, and that's a fact.

The $18.5 million [Ohio State received for making the Rose Bowl last January] went to the Big Ten, where it was added to a pool of bowl revenue that was then sliced into 12 shares - one for each team, one for the league office. That still left Ohio State with a tidy $2.2 million to spend, which the Buckeyes did. Ohio State's team travel costs were $352,727. Unsold tickets ran the school a cool $144,710. The bill to transport, feed and lodge the band and cheerleaders came to $366,814. Throw in entertainment, gifts and sundry other expenses and the Buckeyes lost $79,597.

It makes perfect sense if you think about it:

1) YOU have to foot the bill for travel, lodging, food, etc. for entire trip
2) YOU get the same cut of the dough that bottom feeding teams who didn't make a bowl get, and they don't spend a dime during bowl season

This is the exact reason I could care less about a "fair" system. These schools cry and complain about never being given a chance, and then they don't show up when they get one.
