That last play was an embarrassment. We called a time out to run the same smash route we run 30 times a game? That is the best we could do?

You can't spin this one. You can't. D was bad, Tommy was terrible and we never matched their intensity. Had a chance to put this away several times and never did. That goes back to preparation.

Time to go bottom feeding in our bowl game. There is no reason to have this even be close tonight. None.

Fuuck you people who believe this shiit.

Is it Kelly s fault Golson got kicked out of school forcing Tommy Reese to be QB?

Is it Kelly's fault Gunner Kiel is a puussy and transferred?

Is it Kelly's fault 13 of the 2 deep on defense were either out with injuries or hobbled? Not even counting Jones getting hurt during the game.

Is it Kelly's fault TJ Jones fumbled on the 5 yard line?

Is it Kelly s fault Tuitt get's kicked out during the first quarter.

Fuuck you asssholes.

No way Kellys fault, lack of attitude by players is the fault. Pitt wanted it more. Oh by the way, if Golson is here we are 10-0. We are playing with a MAC or Big Sky qb that cant run.

Wanted it more?? That's the line tonight? I'm sorry. It's football. You have to want it. And when you don't it means you don't care. And when you don't care it's your coach's fault.

Pretty sure the head coach is responsible for getting his players to have the right attitude. Just saying.

What needs to change at notre dame?

To have a chance to win a natty?

Start paying players and forcing them to juice up like they do down South. Stanford needs to go in the crapper. It wouldn't hurt if Michigan stayed mediocre but kept Hoke. Also - Kelly needs to figure out what he's going to do with this offense. Is it going to look like his offenses prior to ND? Where he looked like a genius and maybe a future NFL hire or is he going to continue to put out what we've been watching for 3 and a half seasons. Both sides need change to compete and in all honesty, I'd be cool with heaping blame on the S&C program as well as the ND shot callers. Want a natty? Put your money where your mouth is.

To beat Pitt?

I dunno. Maybe try to preach aggressive play instead of having a pillow fight for 4 quarters. It's college football and you're Notre Dame. Pitt hates you, Navy hates you, USC hates you, Michigan hates you, etc. They will play you tough - if you're not going to coach your players you need to fight every Saturday you'll lose to crap teams like Pitt unexpectedly.

How long have you been watching football?

Upsets happen. Anyone can beat anyone. Notre Dame should have beaten Pittsburgh like 35-7, but this is football and amateur athletics and **** goes awry.

Draw up a recipe for success: turnovers, allowing big plays/easy touchdowns, uncharacteristic plays, calls don't go your way, etc.

Turnovers: check. Inside the five-yard line, too, TWICE. Just brutal.

Easy touchdowns: check. Pittsburgh scored on short fields on three of their touchdowns. Totally aggravating. The missed tackle on the 61-yard TD pass... ugh.

Uncharacteristic play: check. The fumble from TJ, the missed fumble recovery. wtf.

Calls from refs: check. Doesn't even need to be elaborated, but hey.. playing without your all-american DE (with an already depthless DL), giving Pittsburgh an awful PI call, on third down, and thus the ball on the fifteen yard line.

Yeah, it was a recipe for disaster. It happens. Get on with life. BYU in two weeks and I'll be damned if I'm going to put up with an IE that has its collective head up its *** for two whole weeks.

ND Oversold on Kelly?

It's the staffs fault they keep running empty sets with a QB who can't and won't even attempt to run.

It's year four. You recruit, retain, etc to get to a point where you DONT lose these games. Like I said, at this point to be an average football team is inexcusable.

Welcome to all the trolls here as well. It's a great night for people with fewer than 200 posts who want to make it known that they know more about football than our coach (the one coming off of a national championship game appearance).

Enjoy Irish Envy!

You've been watching ND for too long. You are easily the biggest apologist for typical, underachieving ND play on this entire board.

When will you recognize that ND has a terrible habit of playing to their opponents. The team is absolutely awful against the spread. They have to make every game hard on themselves... even ones that should be a routine win. I don't care about the refs or the Tuitt call, ND should never lose that game if we ever want to be a consistent contender nationally.

Exactly. Just like LSU should never lose to Old Miss...

And Georgia should never lose to Vandy...

The spread?! The spread?! What the hell are you talking about? Did you read what I wrote?

Look at our losses this year...those work for you? A terrible Michigan squad, a mediocre OU team and a bottom feeder Pitt squad. Defend that...you ignorant f**k.

Notre Dame is an inconsistent team. Seems pretty simple to me.

Old Miss would stomp the crap out of Pitt.... And they did last year.

We lost to a BAD team tonight. Just like we played down to Navy (another BAD team) and Purdue (BAD team). When ND starts consistently taking care of business against inferior competition then they will get some national respect. Losing to Pitt and barely beating Purdue and Navy does nothing for the program.

There aren't many consistent NCAA teams.

A teams success against the spread is a general indicator of how good that team actually is. Again, it just proves that this team plays to its inferior opponents on a weekly basis.

There's a reason why the best teams in the country are typically great against the spread.
