I've always thought that about him. I'm personally not impressed. They got better on defense when he stopped trying to be cute and just let his players play.

His 3rd year at OK state they gave up 379 yards a game 23.5 points year 4 was 16.8 so his 4th year was good but year 3 was average

Chris Ash would be an awful hire. He was the defensive coordinator in 2020 for Texas where they gave up 406 yards and 28.5 points per game. He did win a national title as co defensive coordinator for Ohio State in 2014 but that team wasn’t a defensive team they just outscored everyone. His head coaching record is god awful.

As a lifetime PA native ND fan to go from embarrassing PSU in the second half, and ruining their season…..and since then they have had a bunch of important players pledge their return, and picked up the best defensive coordinator in the country…and we lost our best chance at a national title in 30 years and got Chris Ash. This certainly doesn’t feel great.
