What did he do to Jessica?

They were talking about the 2018 game against Clemson and Jessica mentioned that Clemson's D had like three starters out. Mick and Ian both gave her a hard time for that and Mick said he was going to mute her. I took it as a joke.

what would you think about eric bienimey being NDs next HC. he's long over due for a HC job but i wonder if his heart is getting a HC job in the NFL.

Won't happen. He did some things 20 years ago and it is the justification not to hire him. He's probably nowhere near their radar.

BK going full scorched earth on ND is epic levels of F’d up. Trying to take Freeman with him? Are you kidding me. I hope the players and Freeman told him to get lost.

The Shamrock Podcast goes in DRY on the admin. Here are the highlights:

1. Kelly didn't leave for money (which looks more and more true as the contract details come out).

2. Kelly left because the admin doesn't care about further elevating the football program.

3. The Gug is trash and might literally be the worst sports complex in power 5. They name like 20 schools with MUCH better facilities and they aren't juggernauts. They name Northwestern, Kentucky, and Wake Forest for a few.

4. Coaches STILL do not get private travel arrangements to recruit. This is a sin, a joke, frankly a slap in the face.

Good luck luring/keeping a legit coach when everyone else is in the arms race and ND is too out of touch or too stupid to get in the game.

ND refuses to go all in on football. Simple as that. If you truly want to win titles, you need to go elsewhere. Kelly has made that choice. Maybe it will be a wake up call to the administration but I doubt it.

The issue is that Swarbrick is on his last legs as well. Even if Jack realizes it, once the admin brings in a new "happy to be here" guy, everything starts at ground zero again.

You can take this for what it’s worth, but I watched the Virginia game with someone with direct insight into the program/boosters line of thinking, and they told me that an actual plan was in place for Freeman to assume head coach in the next couple/few years, upon Kelly retiring. He said the thought was that Freeman would essentially train under Kelly for a while and then ascend to coach.

I don’t know if this is true, but I trust the guy. If it is, ND obviously thinks highly of Freeman. Maybe they just don’t like the way the timeline was abruptly abbreviated.

With his baggage from Colorado? 0.0% chance.

I mentioned this when Covid hit. ND could’ve made a concerted effort to make these improvements at a time when a lot of schools couldn’t. You could even brand it good for the community as it would create jobs and tons of opportunity. They didn’t do that.

There was a list of things BK wanted and it seemed like those were getting done but the Gug renovation, for whatever reason, was never moved forward.

This is a big middle finger from BK to Swarbrick. With ND fans feeling the brunt of it. Both suck

I don’t see how there is any level of surprise or disdain for trying to bring Rees and Freeman. What was he expected to do?

my lord. I'm sorry, I didn't realize people didn't know he was a highly viable option to be the Next Head Coach at ND.

I mean it’s a completely different report. 50/50 he goes to Duke versus 50/50 he goes to Duke IF he isn’t the next HC are just different things.

Definitely a joke and she kept asking why aren’t people more off the ledge like the Spaces was supposed to just be a shit show lol

It won't be a wake up call. Holtz pushed, Weis pushed, Kelly pushed. They might bend ever so slightly now and again but there are no big bends and certainly no breaks.

It's hard to imagine where Notre Dame would be without football but they have bitten the hand that feeds them for nearly a century.

If BK convinces Rees and Freeman to join him, then this is a ND problem. If even the most ardent believers (BK included) in ND as a championship football team don't think the school is serious enough to do it, well I guess they made the right call. And if it is the case, you aren't going to get an elite coach to come in. You'll get up and comers who will leave for better pastures. We lucked out that BK had a stumble and needed extra time to up his resume.

I really don't get why ND insists that even a little bit of leeway in the form of athletic concessions makes their academic university reputation go south. Doesn't seem to effect Duke, can't imagine all those 1 and dones are elite when it comes to playing school. USC is ranked right behind ND, and all I hear is that it's easier for elite athletes to get into USC than ND. Michigan, ranked a couple of spots behind ND. Why don't they have academic hurdles to get in?

As much money as this university has there’s no reason reason we don’t have top facilities and our own jet. That needs to be addressed.

Well that name has more weight than a recruit

Yeah, I don't think Jack is concerned about a lineman coming back for one more year. He's concerned about getting the right head coach for the next 12 years. Same with the recruits.

There is a lot of interest in this position for a change.

Well if you miss a couple of cycles then that can affect the team for years afterwards. I think a short term solution needs to be focused on with an eye on the longer term.

As shown with BK, Elko and the Gug, the admin's commitment to football has to be put in question. There really is no doubt that there is little interest in keeping up with the big boys. Swarbrick even said so a few years ago... That is a shame for ND football fans.

Not to rehash old debates... but just the insistence on independence and snubbing their nose at SEC TV money makes this a fait accompli. Even if you have a similar donor base, you cant keep up with teams that are making much more than you are.

Quite a few posters, including myself, have been saying this for months and that the administration would be perfectly happy going 9-3 every year. I guarantee you that Swarbrick's "outreach" does not include names like Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, etc. Driskell said last night that ND should reach out to coaches like Dabo just to get him to say no and do their due diligence. I'd guarantee that Swarbrick won't even do that.
