Kansas star Kevin McCullar Jr. ruled out for the tournament. Kansas has been terrible without him on the floor.

UVA away from home was absolute dog water and shouldn't have gotten a bid over about 10 teams. I mean they lost to ND by 22 before ND was decent! They lost to Memphis by 23, Virginia Tech by 34, Wisconsin by 24, NC State by 16, Wake by 19, and Duke by 25. Seton Hall was the right pick based on resume IMO.

That was a great game. Both teams didn’t flinch and hit some great shots down the stretch.

John Calipari has done far better than most Italians ever could in Elvis Country, but I think the time has now come. His seat must now be on absolute fire.

Dayton did everyone a service by eliminating Nevada. Thank you, Flyers.

It Just Means More.

Cal throwing his team under the bus just makes the loss even worse.

Hard to see him surviving this even if he gets next season as one more shot.

Read about it, didn't see it until now. That's insane. Official has the same exact view and angle we all had. Even if it was close that rarely gets called in that situation.
The official that had that angle didn't call the foul. Still a horrible call. It's like the ref didn't blow the whistle until he saw that the Kansas player was about to take a hard fall.

All ball, these things tend to work themselves out. Kansas isn’t that good right now so they’ll get curb stomped shortly

Pretty sure I saw his buyout is a cool 33 million.

Edit: his buyout is 75% of his remaining salary, which this year would be 33 million

Yes. That's a stupid football buyout let alone basketball.

It drops to $27M after next year.

Cal had his oldest team ever in 2022 and was a two seed. Lost to St. Peter. In October, he said he'd rather have talent than experience. Gets a three seed, goes out in round one, throws team under the bus afterward.

He's 65 years old with no title since 2012, no Final Four since 2015, no SEC tournament since 2018 and no SEC regular season since 2020. During his most successful period at UK he relied heavily on his assistant coaches, and those guys are all gone now. Any patience after last night probably got incredibly thinner among this fanbase. They've taken to social media and message boards throwing out names like Bruce Pearl, Rick Pitino, Dan Hurley and Scott Drew. It's not great.

That's like saying he had toddlers instead of infants. There's a reason a lot of these lesser schools make runs every year or pull an upset. They are primarily juniors and seniors who have played together much longer and won't get the jitters.

Please look at the 2021-22 Kentucky roster. This is not accurate.

He had Grad Students from Davidson and Creighton. Redshirt Junior from Iowa, Junior transfers from WVU, UGA and Rhode Island. Two sophomores, four freshmen. Got knocked out in round one.

Heavy freshman squad this year, round one.

Whatever his roster compilation is, he's falling way short of the expectations that go with Kentucky Basketball. His teams are playing together for entire seasons and bowing out early however young or old they are. This is the point.

I think this year Purdue actually makes a run deep into the tournament, they have all the motivation in the world to not repeat what happened last year. Similar to Virginia a few yeasts ago

If it was football that buyout wouldn't be an impediment for an SEC school. Not sure if its works that way for hoops tho, even if it is Kentucky.

I think if you look at his squad’s besides 2021-22 it’s more an exception than the rule. He set himself up for criticism when his early squads had more success that realistically isn’t sustainable playing freshmen and sophomores.

No doubt they struggled last year and in 2021. 2022 they were beat by St Peters but so did everyone else until the championship game. 2019 they lost to #1 Virginia in OT in the game to go to the Final Four.
