“I mean, I know why they dropped me — it was because of the game,” Thompson said. “My mom wants me to play in the Army game because she thinks playing for the military will look more beneficial for my resume. My mom made a great point: I’m playing for the military and they sacrificed their lives for us. So who wouldn’t do that? Who wouldn’t want to play for them?”

No idea if that's why he slid, but the services do seem to bump up "their guys".

Was anyone surprised by Sam Darnold committing to USC? Two 2015 Elite 11 quarterbacks on the same team? And Max Browne just ahead of them. Duke or Northwestern would have made a lot more sense for Darnold. Francois is now the only one left standing(Auburn or Florida State). There is a quarterback with a unique predicament, the kid from Cass Technical, but he's sitting in jail. Programs in need of a quarterback will be forced to poach.
